Chapter 25 Protecting her

I stayed in my study the rest of the day working, at least trying to get some work done, but I couldn't even think properly.

All I could think about was Mia and that kiss.

God, her lips felt so...

I slammed the documents in my hands back on the table. I was not going anywhere with this.

I got up from my chair and walked to the mini wine bar I had in my office. It was quite hidden so it was hard to notice.

I picked up a bottle of whiskey and a glass and went back to my chair, before pouring the whiskey in the glass.

How deep were my feelings for Mia for Christ sake? All I could think of right now was her and what she was doing right now.

My mind went to the sexy dress she was putting on, and how it made my body feel... Shit!

I drowned the glass and poured myself a new one.

Mia was unlocking feelings that I never knew I still had and it was driving me crazy no knowing how and why and if she even knows what she was doing to me.

I drowned the second glass before dropping it with a sharp thud on the table.

I was going crazy.

The door to my study suddenly opened and I snapped my head quickly to the door.

"Mia?" I asked before I saw the person at the door.

I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding when I saw it was not Mia but my sister, Victoria.

Why was I so disappointed? Was I expecting Mia to come over?

Why?

My shoulder slumped and I took another sip from the glass before walking back to my chair.

"Bro... I need to talk to you".

"What so you want Ria? Or are you ready to talk about how you spent over a million on a fucking dress?" I asked pouring myself another glass.

I had almost forgotten about my sister's extravagant spending because of Mia.

That girl had clouded my entire thoughts.

Victoria closed the door and walked closer to my desk, before she crossed her hands on her chest.

" Alex... Is there anything between you and that slave of your's, Mia?"

Slave? Mia?

My face hardened ad I glared at her.

" Don't you ever call Mia a slave". I warned pointing my finger at her.

" See, see what I mean? But what is she if not a slave? You bought her at an auctioning house didn't you? "Victoria yelled back at me.

How did she know?

Fuck! When she checked my study she must have found the papers I signed when I got Mia.

" So that's why you checked my study". I said with realization while shaking my head.

" No... I only checked your study because I trying to find my account on your laptop so..." Her eyes widened when she realized what she was saying and she clasped her hands on her lips to shut them.

But it was too late.

" You wanted to delete your account so I wouldn't know of the huge amount of money you spent on a dress?" I asked in disbelief.

I never knew Victoria was capable of doing something like that?

" Stop trying to change the topic, I know dad forced you to go to the auction house, but I can bet he doesn't know you bought a person".

Was she threatening me right now?

" What are you trying to say Victoria? " I asked with a cold voice glaring at her.

" Nothing... I just want to know what's going on between you and Mia". She answered back her voice holding a hidden threat

I smirked. She would rat me out to father the moment I admit it and then my father would either use Mia for what I bought her for, or he would have her killed.

" Alex... You know I've always been daddy's favorite... I just want to know ".

I swirled the liquid in my cup before taking a sip.

" Have you seen anything going on between us?" I asked her in return a gentle smile playing on my lips.

Whatever the cost, I had to protect Mia from my father, I can't afford for him to know about her and my feelings for her, not yet anyways.

Victoria let out a frustrating sigh.

I was glad the conversation was boring her.

" Seriously, tell me the truth. What's going on between the both of you".

" Ria..." I began but she held out her hands to stop me from talking.

" Tell me Alex. I saw both if you standing at the bottom of the stairs together and you were pretty close to each other". She insisted emphasizing how close she saw me and Mia.

My eyes widened.

Could she possibly have seen the kiss?

No she couldn't possibly have right?

I waited for a while after she said that but she didn't bring up the kiss so I was sure she has no idea.

" Look here Ria... There's nothing going on between Mia and I, and there would never be".

I felt a sharp pain in my chest after I said that but I kept the cool and calm expression on my face.

Victoria let out a huge smile that slowly turned to a grin.

" I know... I know, it was just... I can't bear it if my brother starts dating a girl he bought with money, like for just a million dollars, it's literally the same amount as my clothes". She said smiling.

I felt the urge to slap her after she compared Mia to her clothes but I held it in.

I wasn't one to beat a woman, not to talk of my sister, plus she was indeed my old man's favorite, that was one of the reasons I tolerate everything she does.

" Now that we're done with that... You still have to explain why you bought a dress that expensive".

"Come'on brother, you speak like we don't have the money, you bought a person of the same amount".

I squinted my eyes.

Really?

" Okay okay, I won't do it again, but it's a latest and you can agree it looks really good on me " She said twirling around for me to see show the dress fit her.

I rolled my eyes at her dumb antics.

The dress would have fitted Mia better, that I could guarantee. She had more curves than Victoria, plus her hot legs.

" Just leave Ria, oh and never threaten me with dad ever again". I whispered as she left my office.

I felt her quicker in fear as both our eyes met, she could see the seriousness in them, I noticed.

She nodded before skedaddling away from my office leaving me with thoughts of how to keep my feelings for Mia away from her.

Or should I just ask her to leave my house? No I can't do that. Mia would have no place to go.

Maybe I should rent an apartment for her... I shook my head against it immediately.

Victoria would notice it too quickly, and once she tells it to my old man, that was the end for Mia.

"Dargh..." I yelled in frustration running my hands through my hair.

What was I going to do now?
