Chapter 33 Alex's Apology

The surgery would come with some risks, not entirely safe.

The doctor informed me that the worst-case scenario might be not different from now. My mother could remain in a coma indefinitely. She might wake up someday, or she might never wake up again.

I thought I could accept that risk. I was willing to take a chance.

"Ms. Claire, the nurse will bring you the consent form for the surgery shortly. You will need to sign it." The doctor was pleased with my prompt decision, avoiding a prolonged deliberation allowed them to proceed with necessary arrangements more swiftly.

"Once you sign the consent form, we'll schedule the surgery as soon as possible, likely next month. Depending on your mother's condition, there may be adjustments, and we will provide you with detailed updates. If you have any concerns before the surgery date, you can still contact the hospital."

I agreed.

After signing the consent form, I left the hospital.

Instead of taking the bus, I walked along the roadside.
