Valerie
“Oh you must be Val!” Mrs. Johnson crouched down and gently touched my hair, “nice to meet you!”
I followed Mrs. John with my parents and walked into the living room. The decoration here was simple and warm. A three seater sofa in blue velvet was placed near the window sill, allowing the sweet sunlight to sneak in between curtains and to form different shapes on our shoulders. A large vintage rug lying flatly on the floor that was comfortable to walk on with bare feet.
“Here you are. Hope you like it.” Mrs. Johnson put a plate of cookies on the coffee table and handed me a glass of orange juice, I guessed.
I looked at mom in hesitation.
“That’s fine, Val. You can drink it.” Mom nodded to me.
Mrs. Johnson laughed, “Oh dear. Wolves drink orange juice just like you humans.”
I forced a smile and felt embarrassed about myself.
“That’s fine. Just get yourself comfortable darling.” Mrs. Johnson smiled kindly before she went into the kitchen.
“Victor told me to buy some whiskey,” Mrs. Johnson’s voice was loud enough to get through the space, “do you guys love it?”
“Y…yes, sure. That’ll be great.” Dad replied but he looked nervous. He kept rubbing his forehead and checking outside the window.
When I took my gaze back from Dad’s odd motion, I found a boy was standing next to the sofa. He looked the same age with me but he stared at me like an adult before asking, “Who are you?”
I wasn’t able to ponder on an answer as he quickly changed the question, “what are you doing here?”
“We’re invited.” I replied
“Who?” He asked again.
“Me and my parents.”
“I didn’t see them.” He shrugged.
“They’re just here…” as I turned to look for mom and dad, there was no body at all on the sofa. I was shocked and then I raised my voice to call, “Mom? Dad?”
No one answered.
“Who invited you here?” The boy now glared at me.
I was freaked out. I cried aloud and looked around in panic.
I wanted to run out of the house but he blocked my way.
“Who told you to come here?” He repeated the question.
I screamed and struggled but he wouldn’t let me go. “Please! I don’t know! ” I begged.
“You lied!” He growled.
Then I saw he grew up quickly and shifted into a huge wolf. He bared his canines at me. His eyes turned into crimson.
“No!” I shrieked…
***
I opened my eyes as I panted breathlessly from the nightmare. It was the same one I had repeatedly since my imprisonment. Sometimes, the wolf who bared canines would be Mrs. Johnson but the theme was always the same, my family disappeared and a wolf wanted to kill me.
When my breath smoothed down, I realized I was lying at the backseat of a moving car. My body was likely to fall apart as I tried to sit up.
“Lie down.” A man’s voice came from the front seat, “it’s the side-effect of anesthesia.”
My mind lost in dizziness before I memorized what happened.
I was on the auction.
After the sudden presence of that unexpected guest, chaos trail off. Everyone looked frightened.
“M…Mr. Murphy, what brought you here?” The auctioneer’s voice was shaking. He glanced at me with a tentative look while kept bowing to the man.
“She’s not grown up.” The man said with a smoky tone.
“Y…yes. But she’ll be mature tonight. It’s h…her 18th b...birthday.” the auctioneer stammered.
The man didn’t reply.
The tension in silence was escalating.
The auctioneer gulped, “I…if you like a m…mature slave, we can pick you another one. We had—”
“I’ll take this.” The man cut him off then he turned around to look at me。
“Open the cage.” He commanded.
I gazed up to his face, from sharp jaw line to his thin pursed lips then the Greek nose, until I saw those eyes, like smoldering fire, in the color of crimson.
My heart suddenly flinched in severe pain before I fainted out.
Those eyes, I wonder if it’s just a delusion, were the same eyes I had seen countlessly in my dreams.
I swallowed in panic, wondering if the nightmare was going to come true.
I slowly got myself sat up, trying to observe the surroundings but it was too dark outside. The slight pain on arm reminded me of the cut but when I touched it, it had already been surprisingly bandaged neatly. The bleeding stopped.
“I’ll get you a generalist when we arrived.” He said.
Our eyes met in the rearview mirror.
Under his staring, I couldn’t help but flinching back. He frowned and reached out to look for something from the passenger’s seat.
“Put it on.” He threw a suit jacket to me.
I grabbed the jacket and covered my body before looking at him again timidly. His eyes were not flashing in crimson any more, they now looked placid in emerald green.
“T…thank you.” I wasn’t sure if it’s acceptable for a slave to use “thank you” to show her appreciation for the kindness from her master.
He glanced at me once again from the mirror before focusing on driving, “You can get some rest. We will arrive in thirty minutes.”
It was out of my expectation.
The man who bought me seemed to be very…odd. He wasn’t like either of those indecent guests or ruthless wolf guards. Instead, he treated me with politeness and good manners, which was bewildering.
I even had an impulse to ask him some questions before a realization hit me timely that underestimating the situation could cause great danger.
He’s my master. And a master, no matter how gentle and kind he seemed to be, had the utmost authority to decide whatever he wanted for me. He could easily make me die or suffer.
My life could be on edge by just one wrong move.
It’s not worthy to risk my life on stupid questions.
The drive was smooth and quick. But my mind was still on alert. I didn’t dare to sleep.
When the car was finally slowed down, the darkness outside was replaced by warm lights. I glanced through the window to see a huge castle appeared in front of me.
We were at the front gate where a male servant was waiting beside with his head bowed. The moment our car stopped, he walked quickly across the gate to open the door for his master.
He was in a tailcoat, look like one of the butlers in old English movies. He bowed with the left hand against his chest as the man stepped out of car.
“Welcome back, Alpha.” The servant greeted.
Valerie I had never known why Mrs. Johnson would be there in my nightmare. We lost her contact since the war began and when my parents were looking for a shelter, they tried best to reconnect her. But we never succeeded. The summer we spent at Mrs. Johnson’s holiday house near a seashore was the best one I’d ever had. My parents went there for doing some research related to their work and they brought me with them. I was lucky. Because they considered that I was too young to be left behind at grandparent’s house like Mathilda. We indulged ourselves in sun’s nourishment and strolled leisurely along the beach while mom and dad were off-work. Mrs. Johnson showed great hospitality to our visit. She volunteered to help look after me while mom and dad were busy with their works. She brought me to a small amusement park in vicinity and we had a lot of fun there. Mrs. Johnson was a widow. Her husband died many years ago and left her with no k
Valerie The peculiar mark on my lower belly, for what I had been told, was a birth mark. It had been there since I was born, as my mom said so. But it’s very odd to have such a birth mark which was shaped as a solid cross. I had once observed it careful through mirror and I was surprised to find that the two intersecting lines were exactly at the same length. I raised my doubts to mom but she told me that might be God’s bless because I was an angel to them. Well, they never believed in God. The truth was that I couldn’t remember if it had always been there since my birth. Literally, I didn’t have any memories before the age of 5. That used to confuse me a lot. When my friends were chatting about some funny stupid mischiefs they did in kindergartens, I would be the one who lost speech. They always consoled me. They said it was normal, that I might have a slight childhood amnesia but that’s not big deal. I didn’t conside
Valerie “Happy birthday! Val!” Whenever we had my birthday celebrations, mom, dad and Mathilda would give me a big hug before I blew out the candle light. On occasions, if I had invited a few friends to the party, mom would looked at us in a distance with an assuring smile. “My little girl was growing up into a beautiful lady.” She would say something like this, while my dad, on the other hand, would say, “No matter where you go, Val. You’ll always be our little girl.” Whatever wishes they blessed with me counted for a naught now. I sat on bed, staring numbly at the closed door where the master had left. It was until tears fell onto my laps that I realized I was crying. I hadn’t shed a single tear after being captured, even when I was brutally whipped by the guards. But now, I felt like suddenly being caught in the tide of pains that I had buried deeply into my heart. The tide pulled me out to the sea of sorrow, where
Xavier Pain. Pain was the only emotion I saw in her eyes. The way she looked at anything remained the same. She might sometimes appeared to be timid or scared, but that’s not her true feelings. I knew it as I used to see the same countenance on mother’s face before she perished. It was a face with hopelessness that they believed the rest of their lives had stretched out as a dead loop with no exit. It wasn’t quite a pleasant feeling to be reminded of my mother. But Valerie did resembled her quite a lot. My mother, the former Luna of Red Moon Pack, was born to be the only child of an Alpha’s, from whom my father took the crown. Despite being mated to my father, she never seemed to love him. And in the same way, as she had told me so, my father didn’t want her either. They were forced together by the responsibilities for their pack and sacrificed their own wills. My father Caser Murphy, growing up in a warrior’s fa
Valerie My stay at the castle, though with a harsh beginning, turned out not to be as bad as it was in the cell, actually, much better. After blending in with the other slaves, I was completely forgotten by the tormenters as I learnt how to be invisible. But the start was indeed very tough. Mrs. Manson, the head maid, had sought every opportunities to make me since my arrival. I woke up at 3:30 the next morning as she warned me to be present at 4am and I stood there alone waiting for her until she finally strolled downstairs at 6 o’clock. For the entire two hours, I didn’t even dare to sit down or leave the spot in case that she might suddenly appear. My back and legs were hurting. I was pretty sure that Mrs. Manson did it deliberately because very soon after she came down, the servants and slave all gathered downstairs, being prepared to embark on their duties. She gave me the wrong time. Mrs. Manson shot me a glance
Valerie My only encounter with a vampire before the auction was a very short one. It could hardly be described as an “encounter” because it happened so fast that I hadn’t even been able to see his face. But I can still recall the harsh squawks he made after being shot down. It was on a private after party of a wedding where mom and dad brought us to attend. The bride was my mother’s childhood bestie and she was very fond of Mathilda and me. She invited us to visit her newly decorated yard where the roses she planted was blossoming glamorously. We were stunned by the beauty of nature. She looked contented with our reactions and she asked us if we’d like to see her cute little puppy Betty. She told us that her loving husband had just build a new wooden kennel for Betty, which was placed in the backyard and definitely worth a visit. Of course we were delighted to. Mathilda and I both desired to raise a dog in our own family but mom never
Lucas This girl was different, and it’s not that she’s the first woman Xavier brought back to the castle. She was special to me because she looked so similar to her, my late lover Chelsea. The first time I held the girl in my arms, despite only a few seconds, I knew it’s her reincarnation. They had same empathetic eyes and delicate bodies like a malnourished flower. Her scent also resembled hers, a faint smell of rosemary, reminding me clearly of my first encounter with Chelsea, a human girl who had been serving Princess Elizabeth two centuries ago. Back then, I was the shunned vampire prince who had been sacrificed by royal council to marry off a human princess for the peace treaty. I visited their land with the envoy sent by my father for proposing this ridiculous arrangement which was said to be beneficial for both sides. That’s when I met with Chelsea. She was the only girl who’s not afraid of vampires. Up our arrival, we’
Valerie I was mopping the first floor when Samantha rushed downstairs excitedly to tell me something this morning. Samantha was the second slave friend I’ve made in this castle. She was an energetic girl who always seemed to be cheerful, and sometimes, the way she talked or laughed reminded me of Ava. But she was quite different from Ava. Or it would be more specific to say that she was distinct from any of us here, because she was a werewolf. That was not a secret in this castle and everyone else knew about it. So the first time I asked her about this, Samantha was not surprised at all. She told me that she was an Omega, which was considered to be the lowest rank in her wolf pack. The fate was determined since her birth, that she would either be banished or enslaved. She was actually contented with being a maid slave here, rather than being punished with banishment. And when I asked about the reason, she laughed. “Dear Val, d
LucasWhen I looked into her eyes, a rosy blush spread across her cheeks. I chuckled and gently pressed my lips to hers."Too late to feel embarrassed," I whispered against her breath."I... I'm not embarrassed," she mumbled, her eyes blinking. She averted her gaze, as if making eye contact was too strong for her. Her eyelashes danced like the wings of butterflies.I smiled. A surge of joy bubbled up within me. "Remember what happened last night?" I asked.Valerie's eyes widened, her blush now turning a deeper shade of red. She cleared her throat nervously and stammered, "W-What?""It seems that you don't remember," I said, "Well, I don't mind helping you recall. First, you touched your body to seduce me. Then—""No more details!" She extended her hands hastily and covered my mouth, stopping me from continuing.Teasing her always gave me a lot of enjoyment. I gently grabbed her wrist and brushed her skin as I started kissing her hand. She tried to pull away, but I wouldn't allow it."
ValerieLucas didn’t bite me. It was me who went out of control that night. And I didn’t realize what I had done until the next morning. When I woke up naked with Lucas, I found myself in shitty trouble. That night, the only thing I felt was exhaustion. I was extremely impatient with the discomfort in my body. My flesh was on fire, burning, flaring. Every inch of my skin felt like being nibbled by small bugs. They bit me in a rather tickling way. I touched my body in hasty, trying to find a way to stop it.But I couldn’t. I trembled and panted when Lucas put me somewhere soft and cool. I didn’t know where I was. I didn’t care. All I cared about at that moment was the man above me. He looked at me with those flaming eyes as I struggled to get away from his grip. My wrists were cuffed by his large hand. That’s disturbing. I snarled as I lift my head like a beast, threatening to dig into his flesh. But I wasn’t one of those wolves with sharp canines. My teeth were blunt. Lucas didn’t
Valerie This might be a wrong decision. The escape. But I didn’t have any other choice. Did I? The reason why I came here was simple. That’s the only place I could possibly get away from the wolf guards. They were afraid of getting close to this garden, the wolves. Just like they were afraid of Lucas Lang or any other bloodsuckers. Wolves had extraordinary olfaction. I supposed they had already found my trace, but didn’t dare to break in, especially on a night like this, with no blessing from the moon. The garden was nicely cultivated, remaining almost the same as last time. A fresh smell of rose and meadow hang in the air, trying to calm my nerves. It was romantic, I had to say. Lucas must be in deep love with a girl named Chelsea. Just thought about how he treated me, the one who he thought was Chelsea’s reincarnation. It wasn’t hard to find the pave to that beautiful statuary. Reaching out my arm, I brushed over the sleek surface of Chelsea. She looked at me with determined eyes.
ValerieAlyssa was rather candid or even blunt, to some extent. I supposed it’s not easy for people who had suffered from such a trauma like her to speak out their miserable stories in a frank way. But Alyssa, on the opposite, was eager to share. After being confined with the secret for so long, she desperately wanted someone to listen to her, comfort her and guide her, like a lamb missing her flock.Alyssa Woodland, as the only daughter of Alpha Felix, princess of the strongest north pack, was an Omega.“See, it was quite straight-forward, isn’t it?” She shrugged, trying to sound indifferent. But her voice was shaking as her eyes flared at me. “That’s why I can never inherit the throne. No wolf would be willing to submit to someone like me. Omega’s leadership? Fuck it! Even the most ordinary werewolf could easily topple it and put me to death!”Her utterance left me in complete shock
Valerie“Get into the bathroom!” Alyssa signaled to me while pressing her ear against the door to check the movements of guards.I darted into the small room on the right side, hiding myself behind the door which I left ajar for keeping an eye on what was going to happen out here.A hasty knock tense me up, goosebumps spreading across my arms.Alyssa opened the room door slovenly, grunting, “For god sake, do you guys know how late it is?”She sounded annoyed while pointing at the clock on her nightstand. “Don’t you understand that it’s very impolite for a guy to knock at a lady’s door after the sunset?” She grumbled.“Ms. Woodland, my apology.” The leading guard bowed respectfully, “We’re looking for a human slave who just escaped. Have you seen any suspicious human girl passing across?”“I know.” Alyssa rolled up her eyes,
ValerieI had stayed in this room for two days.Other than Samantha and the guards, I didn’t see anyone else coming, which I had no idea if it’s a good sign or not.Samantha had explained a bit more about the current situation of The Red Moon to me. Though she acknowledged very few about what had exactly happened, she gave me some useful clues to put together for the whole picture. She told me that Caser Murphy was never willing to hand over the crown but his physical condition had been deteriorating continuously after losing his left arm in the war. Shortly speaking, he had never been qualified for being an Alpha’s role. The Red Moon had been the greatest wolf pack across the continent for such a long time. Wolves would die for the becoming the leader of it. As upheavals grew intensively within the territory, they were in need of a new Alpha.Despite of Caser’s reluctance, he would still rather to cr
ValerieI regretted for my stupid hesitation. There had been enough time for me to explain my concern to Xavier that my parents could possibly be related to the horrible incident Amelia had experienced many years ago.But I spoiled it by being timid and reluctant. It’s my fault. When I plucked up the courage, the right opportunity had already slipped away, as a sudden knock broken up the peaceful tranquility abruptly“Alpha Xavier! Something emergent I have to report!” A hasty yelp of the guards came from the other side of the door.Hearing about this, Xavier frowned, his facing turning into a stern look.He tapped my hand softly and kissed my cheek, “I’ll be back in minutes. Stay here and wait me, Valerie. Whatever problems you are afraid of, we’ll always be together to face them.”Xavier eyed at me seriously before leaving the room.I had waited in compl
ValerieIt felt a bit awkward to have breakfast here alone with Xavier. I could sense his gaze was lingering around me all time, even if he was eating or drinking. He wasn’t inspecting me at all, just eyeing me fondly as if being possessive over something he treasured. But that did made me nervous, for my intention to make an utterance of my confusions and fears. But a strong emotion hesitated me. I was at a loss, deeply, wondering if that was the right occasion to put out my questions. I could hardly place my stare at him since what happened last night. It didn’t mean that I regretted what I had done with him.I just felt…embarrassed. As if noticing the oddity in my behavior, Xavier pulled me closer and asked me with a gentle voice: “What’s wrong?”I lifted my gaze to him before swallowing down the lump in my throat. I took a deep breath and said, “I have something to confess to yo
ValerieThe next morning I woke up, it was nearly at noon. I was wrapped up in a soft dry blanket, bathing the warm sunshine. My mind stayed blank for a few seconds, being baffled by the decoration in this room before I recall the memory of last night. The horny scenes made me flushed instantly.I couldn’t remember how many times we did, how many times I came and how I fainted out before the long-lasting sex finally finished. That was CRAZY.But I did remember when he carried me out of that room, reminding me of the ‘puddles’ I made on his bed. At that moment, I really wished I could bury my head in the sand like an ostrich. Then he held me in his arms and brought me here. It was one of his studies, decorated with a minimalism style. A large wooden desk was placed across the door, near which a cozy two-seat sofa stood in pair of a same-colored coffee table. But the small bathroom affiliated to the st
