*Stuart’s POV*
The people at the party continued to have fun singing. While Angelo stood to go to the mini-stage because he was the next to sing, Kaz and Patricia returned to their respective seats. This happened while Mago handed me a glass of wine. I took the glass and drank its contents while I used it as an opportunity to get a glimpse of Patricia.
“Don’t stop yourself, Bro,” Kaz tapped my shoulders, “stop secretly watching her. Why don’t you just go and talk to her.”
I squinted at him as I placed my glass on the table.
“Hey, be honest to me,” he placed elbows on the table and clasped his hands, “who is Patricia to you?”
“She’s my ex-wife,” I immediately answered.
“Really?” he smirked, “Because as I see it, you are into her. I mean, don’t make a fool of yourself, man. You love her, but your brain doesn’t want
*Stuart's POV*I have been staring at her bag since I arrived at the office this morning. I do not know what got into me and why I volunteered to keep the bag so I could return it to her today. I should not have bothered because I had no intention of seeing her."Ugh!" I massaged my temples in frustration. Why did I ever bother to take this bag with me? Aist! Why was she too dumb to leave her purse at the night party? I do not know why, but something pushed me to check on her bag. I smiled when I saw what was inside of it. What do you expect from a lady's bag? Of course, it will contain face powder, lip balm, and a wallet, but I creased my forehead when I couldn't see her favorite perfume. She can't go anywhere without it.I closed her bag and returned it to the table. She is nothing to me, so it should not bother her if she changes her preference for scents. But I like that smell.I shut my eyes and called for my secretary. This bag has been bothering me all morning. I must ask my se
*Patricia’s POV*I sighed before leaving the bank. I had to sign a promissory note because I failed to pay what was due this month. I did not get enough earnings this month, so I had to ask the bank to give me an extension. I do not know how to raise the money I need to pay the bank monthly. I guess I will have to accept Delailah’s offer. Delilah was the manager of the club where I worked as a dancer. I only danced on stage, but the club offered a special treat to its principal sponsors by giving them the privilege of having a private show with their favorite club dancer.I refused to do private shows because there are other things that a dancer needs to do besides just giving a private show. I was lucky that a principal sponsor volunteered to pay for my reservation. With that, I became an exclusive dancer, and no one was allowed to book me for a private show. I have never met that principal sponsor, and because of his reservation, I get ex
*Stuart's POV*Half an hour passed before the investigator came to meet me. We were in my car, which was parked near the entrance of the hotel lobby because I wanted to ensure that I could see Patricia as soon as she left the hotel."I want you to know Patricia Sandoval's whereabouts since the time we had a divorce," I required the investigator."Patricia?" he smirked, "You do not need to wait any longer. Your father had been paying me to do the same in the past years, so you can now ask me anything about your ex-wife.""How did she come to this kind of work?" I asked straightforwardly."A month after you separated, her mother died due to cancer. Her father was unable to cope with the financial problems of their company, and the family struggled to pay too many debts—""What?" I could not believe what I just heard, "I gave him money to help his company recover. Didn't he use it?""He did," he answered sadly, "bu
*Stuart's POV*I watched her walk down the dark alley. I can't imagine a former princess now living the life of a pauper. She lived in a very crowded squatter area, an opposite environment to the mansion where she grew up. I sighed frustratedly as I recalled how I treated her these past weeks. I was such a fool! I noticed her sad eyes and her different smile, but I did not bother to know why she wore them.I closed my eyes and pictured her sad image when she looked at me before getting inside the room. I know she does not like what she is doing, but she has no choice. I want to help her. I want to take her away from the life she is now in. But how? How can I help her without her thinking I am doing it because I love her? I do not want her to misinterpret my kindness.I came to the office late because I slept poorly last night. What happened to Patricia bothered me. For a while, I tried to focus on my work, but I always looked at the glass window
*Stuart's POV*I was enraged when I heard the news of the private investigator, "Kaz Legaspi was the one who paid for Patricia's private show service."“Sh1t!” I cussed, "When did this start?""It just started last night," the investigator answered instantly, "He paid Patricia's one-month private show service, and all these will be in a reserved honeymoon suite at the Grand Beatrice Hotel."I didn't say anything after hearing the report. Kaz is my friend, and I know he tak
*Stuart's POV*I smiled secretly as I glimpsed at her sleeping in the passenger's seat. We are on our way to the next town for our lunch. She wondered why we had to travel this far just to have lunch. Still, I made an excuse and told her that I wanted to check on the newly opened branch of Blue Plate, so having lunch in the same town would help me save time and gasoline. But the truth is I am determined to keep her away from Kaz. I have already made some plans and arrangements. All I have to do is ensure she does not leave my side. She will never fall for Kaz. I won't let her."W-where are we?" she asked when she woke up.I parked the car in
*Kaz's POV*I happily brought the romantic movies I planned to watch with Patricia tonight. Am I excited? Hell yeah! I cannot explain why seeing her makes me happy, but I love to see her smile. I have seen her cry hard, and I do not want to see it again.*flashback*"Do you know that love is like pimples?" asked Patricia, "it'll just appear on your face, destroying your image," she continued and then finished her beer bottle."Open this," she demanded, handing me a beer bottle."Pat, you are not used to drinking. Stop i
*Kaz’s POV*I got worried when I learned that Patricia and Stuart were still out of town until now. They were still together, and Stuart was doing things to ensure that Patricia could not attend our evening rendezvous. I learned that the car nap incident was just fabricated by Stuart and that he intended to prolong their stay in the hotel because he bought tickets for the pre-Valentine dinner for a cause held in the hotel where they are staying.I know I have no right to be jealous and no reason to battle with Stuart, but d@mn! Stuart hurt Patricia, and he cannot just show up to date Patricia anytime he wants to. I won’t make things easy for him. If he wished to get Patricia back, he had to work for it.“Roger,” I called my manager, “what happened to the invitation for me to sing in a certain pre-Valentine dinner at a nearby town?”“I declined it because you said you won’t be available,” my manager answered.“Call them again,” I instructed, “tell them to include me in their program a
