Methis Delis POV

“The SUV? Of course, I remember it. Why did you look at it so weirdly earlier when it almost hit me?”

“I’ve seen that car pop up at every location we’ve been to today.” Xander’s tone was very serious and worrying now.

“What do you mean?” I asked. My voice shaking. It was the first time I’ve seen Xander serious about anything and it made so much sense that even the most unserious person would be very serious about their own safety and the safety of those closest to them.

“It showed up at the medieval restaurant, it showed up at the tourist temple, it showed up at the club where it nearly hit you.” Xander’s stare bore a deep hole in my head as he said his next bone-chilling words. “Now it is showing up here.”

Immediately Xander said those words, I turned to see the black SUV reverse and disappear into a street.

I looked back at Xander. “What the hell?”

“We need to leave. NOW!”

“If we leave what then?” I asked. “It is just going to follow us and know our houses.”

Jamal Kunis POV With that in mind, I followed her the first day. She had arrived at school very early and from there she had met up with a group of friends. They were not three girls and two guys but after sometime, they all parted ways safe for her and one of the boys. That alone had my hairs stand on edge. What was happening? Who was the boy? Maybe I should come out now? I asked myself. But I decided to follow to see more. Unlike what Conrad had predicted, Methis did find another person. After an entire day of stalking, I became worried. Methis and the boy spent too much time together though I could understand some of it given the fact that while at the stadium they both had a media work bib on, the way they laughed and talked and the way the ‘playfully’ shoved each other was too much for me to watch with my own eyes. The boy was a bit handsome. With dark skin and a silky looking black hair, it was not hard to imagine how anyone would not fall for him. But that was my mate he was

Jamal Kunis POV It was evening time when they were done with all their fun. They had just left a dance club and were heading towards the direction that led to the bus stop. What a day it was for them. I watch them and follow just as I have been doing all day. Surely these two were close. There was certainly no other explanation as to why they would spend the whole day with each other. I just sat in the car watching. Eventually I had to meet her. Autumn had said it before. I knew it from the start. The both of them must have noticed me because they paused at the side of the road. The expression on their face said it all. They were talking in hushed voices. Though I was far away and could not hear a single word even if they were to speak aloud, I could just tell that they were making up a plan. Soon, they hugged and walked in different directions. I knew the trick. They wanted me to go after one of them. I knew very well that Methis did not live here. Of course, I had followed to her a

Methis Delis POV Of the million questions running through my mind at that moment, only one dominated them. Why wouldn't he just let me be? I was sitting on the couch, clutching a pillow to my chest, trying to calm my racing heart. Why had Jamal Kunis come to my school? What did he want from me? Today, he had cornered me in the hallway, grabbed my arm, and whispered in my ear, "I need to talk to you. Meet me after school." His voice was low and husky, sending shivers down my spine. His breath was warm and minty, making me dizzy. His eyes were dark and intense, piercing through my soul. I had pulled away from him, shaking my head. "No, I can't. Leave me alone." I had run away from him, hoping he would get the message. But he didn't. I had a feeling he had followed me to the bus stop, and then to my house. He had watched me from his car, waiting for me to go inside. And now, he was here. Knocking on my door. I heard his knock again, louder and more impatient. "Methis, open the door.

Methis Delis POV He let go of my hand, and walked away. He got into his car, and drove away. He left me standing at the door, feeling confused and conflicted and guilty and hopeful. All at the same time. It was scary as fuck. I closed the door, and locked it going back to the couch, where sat down. I tried to process what had just happened. Should I go to the hotel? Or should I stay at home? Should I ignore him? Should I reject him? Should I hate him? Should I fear him? Should I forget him? I didn't know what to do. I didn't know what to feel. I didn't know what to think. I didn't know what to choose. I looked at the clock, and saw that it was almost time for school. Getting up from the couch, I grabbed my backpack. I put on my jacket, and headed for the door. I opened the door, and stepped outside. I looked at the street, and saw his car. He was still there. He was still watching me. He was still waiting for me. He smiled, and waved. He mouthed, "I will see you." I felt a pa

Jamal POV Something told me she wasn't coming, no matter how long I waited. I checked my watch for the tenth time, feeling impatient and annoyed. It was already half an hour past the time we had agreed to meet. Where was she? Why wasn't she answering my calls or texts? We had planned this for weeks, ever since I saw her again at her apartment. I had convinced her to give me another chance, to come with me, at the very least I was planning to convince to do it for the sake of our kids, she would learn to love me later, but I just wanted us to be a family. But she was nowhere to be seen. I looked around the lobby, hoping to catch a glimpse of her. But all I saw were strangers, busy with their own lives. No one noticed me, sitting on the couch, holding a bouquet of roses. No one cared. I felt a surge of anger and frustration. I grabbed my phone and dialed her number again, hoping for a miracle. But all I got was her voicemail. "Hey, it's Methis. I can't come to the phone right now

Xander POV I glared back at the man, refusing to back down. He was big, way bigger than me, and there was some cause for concern, but I wasn't here to fight. I just wanted to ta to Methis. I looked past his shoulder at her, "This is him yeah?" She nodded. "What is he doing here? I thought I warned you not to let him in? How the hell did he get here?" "Xander, I can explain," she said, getting up and reaching for my hand. "Explain what? Why you're still seeing this jerk?" I snapped, pulling my hand away. "Hey, watch your mouth," The man said, "You don't know anything about us." "I know enough. I know you treated her like shit mister, I know you broke her heart, and I know you're not good for her," I said, glaring at him. He laughed, a cold and mocking sound. "You think you know her so well, huh? You think you're her knight in shining armor? You're nothing but a rebound, kid. A distraction. A toy." I clenched my fists, feeling a surge of adrenaline. I wanted to punch the basta

Xander POV School and work was exhausting. However, not as exhausting as having to understand why a strange man just showed up in between I and Methis trying to claim her. This man in question went by the name Jamal Kunis as I had heard Methis call his name before. I could not tell what exactly their connection was but I had a bad feeling about him. There certainly was something that Methis was trying to hide from me. Not just from me but from everyone possible. “Do you know anyone called Jamal?” I asked Sophia my sister one time. “No. Who is it?” she asked back. “I don’t know. Never mind.” It turned out not even her best friend Sophia was spared from being kept in the dark about this strange man. Though it was unlike me I went in further search of this man and off I went to the city’s library to find anything on this Jamal Kunis of which I found none. I used the internet and every means assessable but still found nothing. It was now beginning to creep me. A man who just happened

Xander POV I could swear that in that moment Jamal dies and resurrects. He flashed a nervous smile before getting himself back into his normal intimidating look. I thought that this was my chance and if I could press harder, Jamal would let something slip. Something that might lead me to discover the entire truth. “What? Does the disappearance ring any bell?” I asked. Jamal laughs and answers. “Of course it does. Methis had gone for treatment abroad. Nearly fatal thing, it was.” I cursed within myself. Jamal was probably smarter than I had anticipated. He did not evade questions. He answered them. Evasion was a sign of guilt but I knew better. Even with an aligning story from Methis and this strange man, it was still likely a well-planned lie. “Where abroad?” I asked. “I am not Methis mouthpiece. If you wish to know so much then ask her if she’ll be comfortable enough to tell you such details,” Jamal answered. “Now, seize with the interrogation, worm. I have better matters to att

I really don’t care what you think about us anymore and honestly it’s been hard for me as well having to see the one who I love reject me so often. So here’s what it is. I’m trying just one more time. Just one. That’s why I am here. To make my peace one last time. I really love her, Sir. I know that deep down you know it. She must have told you about out time during surrogacy. Even though you might look at it as a thing of tragedy which I completely understand, I implore you look at it from the point of I and Methis as well. She really enjoyed it, and so did I, Sir. You can ask for her own opinion. Just don’t intimidate her when doing it.”I sat staring for a while. Thinking if I should go on or just keep quiet. Jamal POVI returned to the shore to see the woman sitting and examining the beast. She gave me a puzzled look.“Where did you come from?” she asked.“My pet wolf ran to me alerting me of danger,” I casually said.“Well, aren’t you a bad master leaving your pet wolf to deal with this thing alone?”“That thing knocked me unconscious that’s why I could not help him,” I lied.“Alright let’s go then. Where is your pet wolf?”“I just buried it.”“Poor thing.” She gave a little sob.We walked back to the boat and made our way back to the city.“What is that thing?” I asked.“I’m supposed to be asking you. You are the one stuck on that island with it.” She gave me a puzzled accusing look. “And a pet wolf.”“Well a different fisherman dropped me there and ran off,” I lied again.“Is it Bob? He’s the coward around here”“How did you see the beast?”“I was out fishing one day and I saw it shoot out of the sewer and I thought ‘What the hell?’ so I went after it but I lost it.”“Why didn’t you ca

Jamal POVI could not believe I was about to do this now. I was about to wrestle this large snake. I could feel my hands sweat as I made my way to the edge of the island. I stopped just beyond the water and took a deep look into the water. From here, I could see its massive outline looming deep beneath the blue, casting a dark shadow in the sea. If that thing truly did swallow the key, then it must have digested already. Either way, today was the day I made my biggest hunting kill. The only problem is unlike other animals I have hunted, this one seemed to have some sense of reasoning. So maybe I could use that against him. I usually did not like to strike first in a fight so maybe I could make this snake strike first. I’d egg him on.“HEY!” I shouted from the edge of the island. “I am ready! Let’s go! Let’s fight!”The beast circled around the water, creating little waves that emerged on the top of the ocean and splashed on the island. I was beginning to question the sanity behind thi

Xander POVI had been chatty at work for some time now. I talked often, perhaps more often than I realized because I was getting more compliments like "What made you start talking so often?" or subtler ones such as "You look to be in a good mood recently." One time, a young lady working with us asked me what had happened during the time I had first begun working here till this moment. They all thought I had received good news that carried me for a long time but in reality, I was the saddest I had ever been in my entire life. I had not realized I talked more often until all the compliments came pouring in. But somehow it all made sense.I was talking more often so I distracted myself from the pain I was feeling. My subconscious mind was trying desperately to find a new connection to forget the broken one o had with Methis. In the past few weeks, I had experienced pain that hit harder than hammer, pain that cut deeper than sword. It was more than a heartbreak. A heartbreak was not the k

Methis POVI woke up the next morning, a pounding headache threatening to split my forehead into two and tossed it in the bed next to me.Again, typical. The practice of waking up with another problem bothering me had almost become routine so I wasn't really surprised.Nevertheless, I dragged myself out of bed and prepared for school. Irrespective of my feelings, life had to go on right? The first few classes were boring as hell, and I was extremely uninterested, which made the ring of the bell for lunch break a very welcome development.I walked into the cafeteria and almost immediately, my eyes fell on her. Sophia, sat alone at a table, picking her food, a bored look in her eyes.It made me feel like shit, she was alone because of me. I was her best friend, we did everything together including lunch and now we were fighting she had to suffer the discomfort of sitting in the cafeteria and eating alone, with nobody to talk to.I had to fix that.Taking a deep breath, I grabbed my tray

Jamal’s POVI woke up, already feeling exhausted and drained, I allowed my body to revert to its human form as the involuntary transformation subsided. I lay there for a moment, the gritty sand beneath me a stark reminder of the ordeal I had just faced. The sun dipped low on the horizon, casting a warm glow across the island. As evening descended, I woke from a restless slumber. My surroundings were eerily quiet, except for the distant murmur of the ocean. Pushing myself up, I took stock of his situation. The city lights shimmered in the distance, a connection to my realm that seemed both distant and unattainable. My exploration of the island unfolded like a surreal odyssey. The air was thick with the scent of salt and untamed nature as I ventured into the heart of the unknown. The landscape revealed itself in layers — dense clusters of foliage, rugged terrain, and mysterious, hidden corners. The island's interior held a complex tapestry of life. Vibrant flowers bloomed in patches, th
