Liam's POV

The news about Tobias and Maxine always spending time together pressed heavily on my mind. I couldn't shudder off the feeling of betrayal and disappointment from my thoughts. Maxine and Tobias. It felt like a thorn in my side, and I knew I had to deal with it. But how? Maxine had been nothing but helpful, organizing and creating a positive impact within the pack. She was acting like a true Luna, even though the pack hadn't officially accepted her yet. But allowing her to continue this would be a mistake, I wanted to make her happy but I regret it now.

As I watched her do her duties, smiling and encouraging people who felt helpless, I knew I couldn't allow this to go on anymore. I saw how some of the pack members looked up to her, especially the children. She was earning their respect, something that I hadn't intended for her to do. Regret gnawed at me for permitting her to be so involved. It was time to put a stop to it.
