“She is MINE!” Those were the words of the charming man to whom Brynlee’s greedy stepmother sold her. After being tortured several times by her, she was eager to use her as a sex tool for financial gain. That’s when Maverick came along. She was unwilling to be traded to a stranger despite wanting to break free from her family—a very hot and dashing stranger. After he defended her, she found herself unable to resist, and before she knew it, she was taken to his dwelling—in the forest! Was he a fugitive? If not, who was he? “I am the Lycan King, and you are my bride—my chosen bride and mate.” Although she was grateful for his help, that doesn’t mean she would get married to a supernatural being that only exists in movies! Sadly, she has to come to terms with it. What would happen when Brynlee was so pampered and spoiled by the man she was supposed to fear? Would she embrace her fate as a human involved with a werewolf, or does destiny have other plans for her?
View MoreI sat there in the dark, shivering non-stop. The only source of light was the dim rays from the cracked window sill. I knew she would do something drastic. My gaze remained fixed, scanning the area while my hands gripped the edge of my skirt.
Why does she hate me so much? My mother. Her hatred towards me is palpable, evident in her words and actions. Why on earth was she trying to marry me off to that stinking bastard?
“Why are you hiding, bitch?! If I lay my hands on you, I will chop you into tiny bits of smithereens! You dare disgrace me?” Amidst the gloomy atmosphere of that dark room, her voice penetrated through and provided me with a brief moment of relief from her anger.
Funny, right? A mother calling her daughter a bitch? Trust me; I have had it worse than you think. Bitch? That was just the tip of the iceberg. Despite my earnest prayers that she wouldn’t find me, it seems the heavens have always been and will continue to be against me.
Although it was dark, the ominous sound of her approaching footsteps made my heart race uncontrollably. Should I hold my breath?
And then I felt it; the pain brought my wandering mind back to the present. The slash on my body and the angry eyes staring at me in the dark ceased my tears for a second.
“Ouch! Mother! Please, it hurts!” I cried out after that one second of trying to process the fucking pain in my guts.
And it wasn’t enough because the pain won’t stop as my mother continued hitting me and slashing my body with the whip kept specifically for me. I screamed, wailed, begged, and even tried to stop the pain, but she kept doing what she knew how to do best.
“How dare you run away from the wedding? That man is willing to pay $100,000 to marry you!” I heard her say.
Yes, that old hag, old enough to be my ancestor, would pay that enormous amount of money to get married to a virgin who was old enough to be his great-granddaughter!
But then I have no one to blame. After all, my mother was happy to sell me off.
“Mom, I’m not even eighteen yet, I’m still studying, and I’m not even of legal marriage age. Why do you want me to get married?” I came up with the perfect reason, hoping she would calm down. How wrong I was.
I saw her scoff at my words as her eyes glared at me distastefully. What kind of mother would harbor such hatred for her daughter? If I wasn’t already heartbroken, her next statements utterly crushed me.
“It’s lucky you have someone willing to marry you with dollars. I can buy a suit with that money!” She said, spitting on the floor.
What? Was my worth just some fucking suit? Was she hellbent on selling me just to buy one? My chest heaved in anger, and I clenched the hem of my skirt even tighter.
“Regina is eighteen years old and a year older than me. Why don’t you let her marry someone?” I asked angrily.
I have had enough! She was my mother, for crying out loud. Why was she different since the death of my father? Although she hadn’t been the best of mothers, she wouldn’t exchange me for a suit or beat me for every little fault she seemed to see every time. I looked up at her, trying to see whether there was even the slightest sign of concern on her face, but I saw a sneer and the words I had come to get used to.
“How can you compete with her? Regina is my daughter, and she is beautiful and smarter than you. Compared to you, filthy thing, she is the best!”
I felt hurt like always; my chest squeezed at the thought of being compared to filth. I wanted to retort badly, but the only thing that came out of my mouth was a question.
“Why? I’m your daughter too!” I yelled, tears welling up in my eyes.
I watched my mother throw me a disgusted look, and just as I was about to hear her reply, my ever-precious sister, Regina, came over and pulled her mother away.
“Mom, don’t be angry with this trash. Please go have a rest.”
What do I expect? Solace? Consolation? From the one who wished I was never in their lives? I wonder if she didn’t want a sibling. That could explain her blatant hatred for me.
I heard her scoff as she approached me in the darkroom, representing all the darkness in my life. Although I couldn’t see her too well, I could see every step she took toward me, and I could picture her radiating her forced beauty as she flaunted it.
That’s Regin—the peacock of the family. She had just turned eighteen, and boys were already lining up as suitors, not because she was beautiful but because she knew how to become beautiful. Please don’t ask me how.
“Do you know why mom hates you so much? Let me tell you a secret.” She said, bending to my ears to whisper.
I strained my ears and eagerly awaited the answer to the question that had been eating me up—why my mother hated me.
“That’s because you are not her child! Hahahaha! You are the child of dad and another woman; that’s why mom hates you so much.”
My world stayed still for a moment. It was like I was floating in my world of uncertainty. I was the child of another woman?
I was shocked. No wonder my mother looked so plain, like Regina, but I looked very different. I also don’t look like my dad except for the hazel eyes and golden hair.
I lost all hope in myself. The hope that someday my mother would love me. That hope just got shattered, knowing my mother must have been the other woman since Regina was older than me.
Tears streamed down my cheeks as I recalled everything I had gone through. Dropping out of school, despite being the top student and being treated like trash since my father’s death, explains everything.
I have a feeling that this is only the start and that I will soon be sold out. I need to run away from home.

As soon as the mother and daughter duo left, I took my little savings and sneaked out of the house. Still filled with sadness and anger, I kept walking in no direction.
Our house was situated on the city’s outskirts and was surrounded by trees and rocks. I kicked the rocks and stared at the ground with my thoughts scattered.
I wished my father hadn’t died; maybe I might know a little about my biological mother. As I walked deeper into the forest that leads to another little town, my body suddenly tensed up.
I felt a strong wind blow past me. It wasn’t just an ordinary wind; it was like the feeling of something rushing past you. The force was so huge and violent that it knocked my whole body out of the way! I fell to the ground.
“Ouch!” I cried, holding my butt.
I got up from the grass to check who hit me and was surprised it was a huge but injured dog. What would a dog be doing here? As I approached it, I furrowed my brows upon realizing its true nature.
“A wolf?”
I shivered in fear. Was this how I was going to die?

He noticed how worried he was and he sighed."I'll be fine in a few days. I have to leave now. The palace needs some rumination." maverick annouced.Brynlee nodded and watched as he left. Days went by after that and the new palace for the Solar pack was in place. Two huge status stood magnificently at the entrance to the palace and it won't take someone a second to see that it was the Luna and her Alpha."Sir there's a report,"Loren walked inside the study room of Maverick who was going through some files.Maverick stared at
"You came?" He asked with heavy breath, staring at her as she still struggled in cutting the rope. She paused and turned towards him, staring at him with a smile on her face before she placed her palm on his face and then replied, "Of course I did. You would do same for me."He smiled at her. The pains he had felt around his hands had already ceased as soon as he could feel her hands around his skin, and for a second, his love for the lady had rekindled ten times more than what he had already felt for her.But all of the emotions were cut off just as soon as his eyes had sighted the movement of a rogue wolf approaching them at a very intense speed."You might want to be a bit faster in cutting off this rope!" He said. "Why?" She asked"Because another is coming in our direction," he said. Her eyes immediately turned backwards as she could also sight the rogue wolf running towards them both, and the tension within her spirit had immediately catapulted."Shit!" She groaned as she kept
AUTHOR'S POVHeavy breath accompanied every hasty step she took round the building. Her eyes moved round the entire building, her face beaded with sweat drops as she stood with her hands on waist, seeming lost in the thoughts of something uncertain."My lady..." A voice sounded from behind her which interrupted her train of thoughts, causing her to turn backwards in view of who had called towards her."He's not here! He's not anywhere in the building" Loren said. His eyes were squeezed at the sight of her facial reaction. Her face was squeezed, as though tears were about to fall down her face. She turned back and forth, already sniffling her nostrils with the hasty breath increasing as the seconds passed by. Her hands were on her head, her fingers rushing through her already scattered hair in thoughts of what next she could do.She searched for Maverick as soon as the strangest feeling pierced through her heart. She had started her search, but when she had seen the impossibility of he
As soon as Alexandria and Regina was taken away, hurried footsteps were heard coming towards the place they were. It was Loren and Tamara who heard about another poisoning episode."I heard about what happened. Are you both fine?" Loren rushed inside the mansion along with Tamara.Brynlee stopped with what she was doing then stared at the couple who just came in."Loren? Tamara?" Her eyes widened in surprise. Tamara stared at her, surprised then stared at Maverick who gave a short nod."You finally remember us?" She asked with watery eyes. Brynlee nodded frantically and they both held each other screaming."I thank God that everything is fine now," Loren walked towards Maverick. He took a seat on one of the sofas while he watches the ladies. He was about to say something but Maverick phone started ringing. He stared at the buzzing phone and the table."Hello?" Maverick coldly asked. He knew who the caller was and he wondered why he called?"Are you free?" Uncle Berth's voice sounded f
Author's POV"Is it because it's poison?" Willow asked and Alexandra's brows creased together."How dare you give an accusation without proof?" Alexandra thundered."You know what I hate the most? It's dramas. It's either you give her that pie like she requested or get your head on a platter for being a traitor," Brynlee coldly replied."Mr Maverick! Will you let her talk to your guest like that?!" Alexandra accused.Maverick stared at her then back at the pie. If the woman knew how much he pampers his mate, she wouldn't dare ask him that. But for the fact that they are trying to deceive Alexandra, he just had to play along. "Is it truly poisoned?" He calmly asked. Alexandra's eyes widened in disbelief. Why was Maverick suddenly believing them? Didn't he ask her over here because he wanted her help? Wasn't that why he always danced to her tune? "You don't believe me?" She feigned a sad look on her face. Maverick simply stared at her without saying a word. Alexandra's hands tightene
Willow's POVThere were so many words I wished to tell my daughter. I wish I could tell her how sorry I was to leave her alone all these years. I wish I could stop all the maltreatment she received from Alexandra after the death of her father. But I just couldn't. I didn't want to make her life more complicated than it already was. How could I tell her that she was at risk then because I broke the rule of witches?Back then, powerful witches of the royal bloodline were forbidden to mate with humans. That was how we were taught, not until I met Brynlee's father. He was so perfect that I fell in love with him.But of course, I knew the implications of what I was getting myself into. To protect him, I wanted to denounce my witchy powers. I was determined to be ordinary so I could be with Brynlee's father.I never knew those were just my wishful thinking. The man I fell in love with lied to me. I found out another woman was pregnant with his child. Filled with fury, I wanted to destroy h
Third Person POVUncle's Beth's gaze sharpened as he stared at the shadow standing at the window. There was a moment of silence before it slowly disappeared from there. "What's that?" He muttered as he quickly ran towards the window to check but no one was there. He sighed then turned towards the dressing table. He picked the bottle with serenity and placed it gently inside the drawer."Get ready to meet your demise," He chuckled lightly as he climbed the bed and slept soundly.Hours passed in the blink of an eye and it was morning already. A maid walked towards his room and knocked gently."Sir, breakfast is ready," The maid said but he simply ignored her. He wore his suit and walked past her."Tell the driver to get the car ready. I'll be there in 4 minutes," He said to the maid as he made himself a coffee. The maid nodded and dash off to relay the order. Few minutes after that, he was on his way to Maverick's mansion. It didn't take long before the car pulled into the mansion."W
Alexandra's POV"How long have you been here, willow?" I asked the frightened woman before me."It hasn't been long, ma'am. I only came here to inform you that I have to head back home now. I do not have any money with me and I don't think I can stay in this place stranded," She replied. My brows creased at her words but then she said right. She can't spend all her time here without earning from it.She needs money to survive and I don't expect to keep her around me. There are a lot of maids in here who can meet all my needs but then… I do not think they are worthy of my trust. So that's where she comes useful."Ma'am," She called out."Yes, you can stay," I gasp out then sighed."I can't stay here, ma'am. I need money," She argued."Money Is not the problem. I will pay you while you do some minor jobs for me. Let's just take it as our usual routine before I came here. I can't trust anyone in this palace and I've known you for a month now. Apart from Regina, you are the next person I
Alexandra's POV"We are here," Loren said as we entered the grandiloquent building. I couldn't help but gasp at how beautiful and luxurious it was.Is this really the place where my 'daughter' has been living? My eyes rolled at this but I still made sure to feast my eyes with everything I could see. I watched as the maids quickly take our luggages towards the Mansion and they all look so happy with their work "Woow," I gasped in disbelief. Don't tell me they are enjoying the luxury here?Hell yeah! It's better I stick to the deal and stay here forever but… I do not think the clean way is good."Ma'am, is there anything I can do? I mean, you asked me to come over leaving the house empty," a disturbing voice interrupted my inner happiness.I turned to stare dagger at the haggard looking maid I brought with me. If not that she was very good at her job and somehow, I just can't chase her too."What's that name of yours again?" I asked, making sure to sound demeaning."Willow" She said
