THE deafening silence engulfed both of them. Michelle looked at him intently, while Ethan only took a quick glance at her before he gazed back at the road.

It took a minute before Michelle finally realized that Ethan had ignored what she had just said. She let out a sigh of defeat. She thought that they were already cool because he already believed and defended her from his parents.

She assumed that he finally realized that he thought low of her at some point and did not trust her enough. That’s why she asked for an apology, but then, she felt so wrong once again; so wrong to assume that somehow he would realize that she deserved his sincere apology because of what he made her feel.
