The air smelled of gunpowder and sweat. Shouts echoed through the dark alleys, and the occasional crack of gunfire sent shivers down Selena’s spine. The night, which had started with tension, had quickly spiraled into chaos.

"Boss, the place is surrounded by Lucian's men, almost as if it was a setup," Matteo said, his voice urgent.

"Matteo! Make sure Selena is safe," Adrian ordered, his voice steady but laced with tension. "Nothing must fucking happen to her."

Matteo nodded and grabbed Selena's arm. "Come on, miss" he said firmly, pulling her toward the back door.

Now, as Selena stumbled behind Matteo, trying to keep up, her chest burned with panic. She clutched her side, her breathing ragged. Her heart pounded in her ears, drowning out most of the noise around her.

“Stay close to me, Miss Selena,” Matteo barked, his tone leaving no room for argument.

“Where is Nathan?” Selena shot back, her voice trembling.

Matteo spun around, his eyes blazing. “We don’t have time for th

The night smelt of smoke, blood, and gunfire. The club had turned into a battlefield, and Adrain was right in the middle of it. It didn't faze him, this was his usual night routine. Fighting for his life and that of his men. Then his phone began to ring, he checked it and saw it was Matteo."What's the problem?" He asked after picking the call. Matteo never calls unless it is urgent.“Boss, we’ve got a problem!” Matteo’s voice crackled over the phone, urgency thick in his tone. “I already know, Matteo,” I growled, scanning the dark street ahead of me. “Lucian’s bastards are everywhere. Fucking rats.” “Your wife—she’s hurt,” Matteo said. My blood ran cold. “What the fuck do you mean hurt?” “She got stabbed. It’s bad, Boss. Nathan’s with her, but…” Matteo’s voice trailed off. “Where are you?” I barked, gripping the steering wheel so hard my knuckles turned white. “We’re heading to the Sade house for cover. It’s the closest safe spot.” “Stay there,” I ordered, my voice low

The air in the hospital waiting room was tense. Adrian paced back and forth, his boots thudding heavily against the tiled floor. Matteo sat slouched in a chair, rubbing his temple, while Nathan leaned against the wall, his arms crossed and face pale.Adrian stopped abruptly and glared at them. “How the hell did this happen? You were supposed to protect her!”Nathan’s jaw tightened. “I didn’t know she’d jump in front of a knife for me, Adrian. She—she didn’t give me a choice.”“Bullshit!” Adrian roared, his fists clenching at his sides. “You always have a choice. You should’ve been faster, smarter—”“She’s alive because of me!” Nathan snapped, his voice rising to match Adrian’s. “If I wasn’t there, she’d be dead already.”Matteo stood, raising a hand. “Enough, both of you. This isn’t helping. Let’s focus on her.”Adrian shot Matteo a look but stayed silent. The truth was, his anger wasn’t just at them—it was at himself. He should’ve been there. He should’ve protected her.The waiting d

The room was quiet, save for the beeping of the machines that surrounded Selena. Adrian sat beside her bed, his eyes tired and full of worry. His hands were clasped tightly together, and his jaw was clenched. He hadn’t slept or eaten for days, only staying by her side, watching over her, praying she would wake up. But now, the quiet seemed deafening. As his gaze shifted toward her, a memory from his past suddenly hit him, sending a cold chill through his body. It was a memory he had tried to bury for years, but now, it felt like a reminder of everything he had lost and everything he feared he could lose again. He remembered two years ago when his parents were murdered. The sound of the door to the hospital room had creaked open, and Adrian had slowly stepped inside, his heart heavy with dread. He had been called in the middle of the night. His mother had been gone. The world had seemed to freeze around him, and his feet had felt like they had been stuck in place. The sterile scent of

Adrian stood up suddenly, his chair scraping loudly against the hospital floor. Selena blinked, confused, her hand instinctively reaching out toward him. He didn’t look at her, didn’t even pause. He just stood up from the bed, straightened himself, and walked toward the door without a word. “Adrian?” Selena called weakly, her voice barely a whisper as she pushed herself up with difficulty. Her body still ached from the injury, but her heart hurt more as she saw him walking away. “Where are you going?” she asked, her voice trembling. He stopped at the door, his back still turned to her. “I’ll be back soon,” he said, his words flat, emotionless. Without looking at her, he opened the door and stepped out of the room. The door clicked shut behind him, and the silence in the room seemed to grow louder, wrapping around Selena like a heavy blanket. She sat there for a long time, staring at the door he had left through. Her thoughts were jumbled, her emotions a mess. She had been hurt, confu

The morning light crept through the sheer curtains of the mansion, casting a soft glow on the polished floors. Selena sat in the sunlit dining room, poking at the untouched breakfast laid out in front of her. The food, as always, was perfect, yet her appetite had vanished. Her thoughts were consumed by Adrian—where he was, why he hadn’t come home yet. The ache in her chest deepened with every passing hour of silence. The sound of heels clicking on the floor broke the stillness. Selena glanced up to see Valerie entering the room. Her best friend looked as flawless as ever, her fitted dress exuding elegance like shed always did in college. Yet today, her usual air of confidence was tinged with something softer, almost hesitant.“Good morning,” Valerie greeted, her voice warm yet careful. She pulled out a chair and sat beside Selena, resting her manicured hands gently on the table.“Morning,” Selena replied quietly, forcing a small smile.Valerie studied her with the keen, perceptive gaz

The sound of laughter and the soft hum of music filled the grand ballroom. Crystal chandeliers sparkled overhead, casting a golden glow over the sea of elegantly dressed attendees. The charity event was one of the year’s most anticipated gatherings, a night for the wealthy and influential to mingle under the guise of doing good.Selena stood near the entrance, her fitted emerald-green gown flowing gracefully around her. Her hair was styled in soft waves that framed her face, and a delicate diamond necklace adorned her neck. Despite her outward poise, she felt uneasy. This wasn’t her world—it was Adrian’s. Yet tonight, he wasn’t by her side.Instead, Nathan stood beside her, his black suit tailored to perfection. His usual cocky demeanor was replaced by something more restrained, almost protective, as if he could sense her discomfort.“Relax,” Nathan said, leaning in slightly. “It’s just a room full of rich people pretending to care about charity. You’ll be fine.”Selena couldn’t help

Selena blinked, her heart pounding in her chest. Adrian’s words hung in the air, sharp and cold, cutting through the noise of the ballroom behind them. “What?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Adrian’s hand lingered for a moment before he pulled it back, his expression unreadable. “You know what I mean,” he said, his voice low and controlled. “You betrayed me.” Selena stepped back, the weight of his accusation pressing down on her. “Adrian, I didn’t—” He raised a hand, stopping her. “I saw the way you were with Nathan tonight. Laughing, smiling, touching his arm like it was nothing. Do you have any idea what that felt like?” Her brows knitted together, confusion mingling with anger. “He was being kind because you weren’t there,” she shot back, her voice rising. “You left me to fend for myself in a room full of people I don’t belong with. What was I supposed to do? Stand in a corner and disappear?” Adrian’s jaw tightened, his hands clenched at his sides. “You co

The dining room in Adrian’s mansion was as grand as the rest of the house. A long wooden table stretched across the room, surrounded by tall chairs covered in dark leather. A glittering chandelier hung overhead, lighting up the table where plates of fancy food were arranged neatly. The delicious smell filled the air.Upstairs, Selena stood in front of her mirror, adjusting her dress. Tonight wasn’t just any dinner. It was a meeting of Adrian’s closest allies—the people who helped him run his gang. She wasn’t excited about it. When she came down the large staircase, Adrian was waiting at the bottom. He was dressed sharply, his suit fitting perfectly. His serious face softened as he saw her. A small smile appeared.“You look beautiful,” he said, holding out his arm.“Thank you,” Selena replied, taking his arm with a faint smile of her own. When they entered the dining room, a few guests were already seated. Matteo, usually full of jokes, looked serious tonight. Beside him sat Valerie,

The Gathering in the WarehouseParker stood in the center of the dimly lit warehouse, his sharp gaze scanning the masked figures surrounding him. Shadows danced along the cracked concrete walls, the single, flickering overhead bulb casting an eerie glow over the meeting. The air was thick with the scent of oil and dampness, the remnants of a forgotten storage facility now serving as the meeting ground for a faction that thrived in secrecy. Each figure stood cloaked in dark garments, their features concealed by masks of varying designs. Some bore symbols etched into the fabric, silent declarations of past allegiances or blood debts yet to be settled. Though their faces were hidden, Parker could feel their eyes on him, waiting, expecting."The Monadikos are moving," Parker announced, his voice steady, carrying the weight of the intelligence he had gathered. A large wooden table sat at the center, surrounded by figures cloaked in darkness. The air was thick with tension, the weight of secrets pressing heavily against the silence.A man in a tailored suit leaned forward, his fingers tapping rhythmically against the aged surface. His eyes, sharp and calculating, flickered with something close to amusement. “So… it seems our dear Adrian has found what we have been looking for.”Across from him, a burly figure with a scar running down his left cheek exhaled sharply. “I told you we should have destroyed that underground years ago,” he growled. “Leaving it there was a mistake.”A woman with piercing blue eyes and an aura of authority spoke next. Her voice was calm, yet laced with venom. “The mistake was underestimating him. We assumed he would remain blind to what lay beneath his own empire, but Adrian is no fool.”But it is not the same underground. Our informant told us it was something no one could ever discover it was if not for their smal

A lump formed in her throat, thick with emotions she couldn't quite name. Anger? Worry? Fear? She clenched her jaw and inhaled deeply, trying to suppress the surge of questions threatening to drown her thoughts. What was he hiding? Why was he being so cryptic? The night air was biting cold, making Selene shiver slightly as she wrapped her arms around herself. Nathan noticed and turned to her. “You should go inside,” he said, his voice laced with concern.Selene nodded. “I will head to my room now.”Nathan fell into step beside her, escorting her through the dimly lit corridors. Just as they neared her room, footsteps echoed from the other side. Without hesitation, she left Nathan’s side and rushed toward him. “Adrian,” she called softly, relief and affection clear in her voice.Nathan clenched his fists as he watched her throw her arms around Adrian, pressing herself against him as though he was the only thing that mattered. His stomach twisted in knots, but he forced himself to remain composed.Adrian responded immediately, holding her close as he kissed the top of her head. His grip on her was posse

Nathan’s footsteps echoed sharply as he stormed down the corridor, his jaw clenched so tight it ached. His hands balled into fists, his mind racing with everything that had just happened.Adrian was playing with them. Toying with them.He didn't need to say their names. His knowing looks, the smug amusement in his voice, it was clear. Adrian suspected them. No, he knew. And that meant they were walking on a thin line that could snap at any second.Behind him, Isabelle followed at a measured pace, her expression eerily composed.“Are you going to slow down,” she murmured, “or should I run to keep up?”Nathan exhaled sharply but didn’t stop. “He was testing us.” His voice was low, furious. “And you played right into it.”Isabelle chuckled, a soft, knowing sound. “Me?” She arched a brow. “I handled that beautifully.”Nathan spun to face her, his eyes flashing with barely restrained anger. “He doesn’t need proof, Isabelle. Not with the way you smirked through the entire thing. You might a

A slow, wicked smile curled her lips as she glanced back at the door they had just shut. Nina’s pained gasps still echoed faintly behind it, her weak body convulsing as the poison did its work. A fitting end for a loose end.Isabelle exhaled sharply, the thrill of control surging through her veins. She had done it. One less obstacle standing in her way.But Nathan wasn’t as composed. He walked beside her, his jaw clenched, his posture stiff. Something about the way he moved, the way his fingers twitched at his sides made it clear that something was on his mind.Isabelle noticed, but she didn’t comment. Not yet. They emerged from the labyrinth and stepped into the crisp night air. The guards they had drugged still lay motionless, their breathing slow and even. Everything had gone exactly as planned. No mistakes. No witnesses.Nathan ran a hand through his dark hair, his expression unreadable as he turned to her. “It’s done.” His voice was flat, but there was something underneath it.

The moment Isabelle returned to her room, she shut the door and pressed her back against it. Her chest heaved, her fingers trembled, but not with fear. No, it was something else.Disappointment.Power.Nathan’s words still echoed in her mind, cutting deeper than she wanted to. "You should be making peace with Victoria, not picking fights with her. That is the only way you stand a chance of winning Adrian back."Her lips curled in disgust.Make with peace with that brat that doesn't even like me at all, she scoffed. He thought she was weak.Adrian thought she was insignificant.Selene and Victoria had made a fool of her.The rage inside her boiled hotter, clawing at her insides, demanding release. She wouldn’t allow this. She refused to be discarded like trash. Her fingers curled into fists as she paced the room, her nails digging into her palm. Nathan’s villa was quiet, but the silence was shattered by a deep, thunderous voice.“ISABELLE!”Adrian’s furious roar echoed through the sitting room , his voice sharp enough to cut through the whole villa. His eyes blazed with rage, his presence commanding as he stood in the middle of the sitting room, his fists clenched.Isabelle sat on the edge of her bed, her fingers digging into the sheets as she bit her nails, her mind a whirlwind of frustration and anger. The events at the training grounds played over and over in her head, taunting her.She should have handled it better. She should have fought harder. Her pride was wounded, and the humiliation burned deep.“Damn it,” she hissed, her fingers gripping her hair as she rocked slightly, seething. How could she have let Victoria humiliate her like that? How could she have lost control in front of everyone? Her breath came out uneven, rage tightening her chest.Then. “ISABELLE!”The deep, thundering voice shattered the silence. Her

Adrian had planned to spend a quiet evening with Selene. He walked into her room with the simple idea of enjoying some calm time together. But as he opened the door, he found Victoria sitting there, chatting with Selene. The two women looked up, startled, as they saw him. Selene’s eyes widened in surprise because she had not expected Adrian so soon. It has been long he visited her room.Victoria was about to offer an excuse, a polite reason to leave them alone, when Adrian raised a hand. “Sit down,” he said calmly. With that, Selene moved toward him and gently rested her head on his lap. Adrian smiled softly and began to caress her hair, his touch both comforting and intimate.Once they settled, Adrian began to share news about recent events. He spoke about Nina’s latest activities, his tone low and serious. Then he mentioned Isabelle. The moment the name crossed his lips, Selene instantly sprang up from his lap, her face filled with worry.“How did she get back into the estate?” Sele
