Isabella's Pov

It was a jolt to witness his sudden shift in reaction. Initially, he was composed and amiable, but then, without warning, he changed as though the beast in him was awakened.

“What on earth is happening?” I pondered, retracing my steps to his room after being sent out like I was a nobody.

A nagging thought crossed my mind—could it be the water I had brought that set him off? Why should I care? This was someone who had treated me poorly, yet here I was, feeling a twinge of sympathy for him in his current turmoil.

I gently tapped on the door, eager to avoid provoking him further. “Alexander, may I come in?” I asked softly.

As I turned the knob, I discovered it was unlocked. Peering through the narrow crack, I caught sight of him, seething with anger.

“How dare she dredge up the past? How dare she?” he bellowed, his fury palpable.
