Chapter Two

JARED

I strolled into my office, hands tucked in my pockets. With a sigh, I collapsed down on my swivel chair. Closing my eyes, the image of that girl from earlier flashed through my mind, making me frown. The spark I felt when I saw her - it was ridiculous.

She can't be my mate. The moon goddess had to be joking if she thinks I will accept that weak thing who can't even recognize her mate as my own. Just thinking about it made my blood boil.

The door swung open and I opened my eyes. My eyes landed on Lisa, my girlfriend who smiled and sauntered over to me. She settled down on my laps.

I couldn't help but smile. "You are here."

"Hmm. A girl was taken to your room. Who is she?" Lisa asked and I smirked. "Just some stupid bitch whose father gave to me in exchange for his debt."

"Whatever, I missed you." With seductive eyes, she began fondling with the button of my shirt.

"You did, hun?" Chuckling, I grabbed the back of her head before crushing my lips against hers. She kissed me back eagerly, her hands wrapping around my neck.

"Hmm." she moaned, wrapping her hands around my neck, fueling the hunger in me. I could feel my cock getting hard and it seems she felt it too cause she began straddling me.

I let out a low groan as my hands slid from her waist to her ass, squeezing it hard. She moaned loudly, her hands going to my shirt buttons. She was about unbuttoning them when the door opened.

"Damn it!" I groaned, and pulled out of the kiss. We turned to see Mavis, who raised his hands up in surrender.

"Carry on, I will leave you to it." He said and turned to leave, but Lisa spoke up. "It's fine. I will see you later." She turned back to me and pecked my lips before standing up from my laps. She left the room after. I shot a glare at Mavis.

"I had no idea she was here." He shrugged and walked over to the chair in front of me, settling down on it.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, leaning back in my chair.

"I came here to give you this." He raised up a document I just noticed was in his hands. He dropped it in front of me and I took it, reading through it briefly before looking up.

"It's the demands of the orphanage home," he answered the question I was about to ask. Nodding my head, I dropped the document. "Give them what they want."

"Isn't it too much?" He asked, taking the document to stare at it like he was not aware of its content.

"It doesn't matter. It's for the orphanage, so let them do their thing." I waved my hands.

"If you say so," he nodded, taking his gaze from the file to stare at me. "What are you going to do about Martin's daughter?" He asked.

Martin was the father of that weak thing the moon goddess decided to give me as a mate, also the bastard who owed me a large sum of money, and gave his daughter to me to pay it off.

"What a sick bastard." I muttered, earning a curious glance from Mavis.

I chuckled and responded to his question "For pleasure."

I stood up after and walked over to a small table where a whiskey decanter was.

"You want some?" I asked, and he nodded. I poured some of the whiskey into two glasses before going back. I dropped a glass in front of him before going back to my seat.

"Okay. Now, what's wrong? You rarely do things yourself." He muttered, staring at me suspiciously as he drank from his glass. I chuckled. He sure knows me well.

"She is my mate."

He spit out the whiskey immediately, and I frowned, in disgust.

"So sorry." he took a tissue and wiped his mouth, including the table.

"Who is?" He asked when he was finally settled.

"Martin's daughter."

"What!" He shouted. "How is...well, it's possible." He nodded.

"The worst thing is that she doesn't even recognize that I'm her mate. Like, imagine how weak she is. Does she even have a wolf?" I scoffed, shaking my head.

"If she can't recognize you, then... she probably has no wolf. What are you gonna do then?" He asked.

"Rejecting her stupid ass, of course. You don't expect me to acknowledge that weak thing as my mate. It's better she doesn't know I'm her mate, so I don't have to go through the pain of rejecting her." I replied.

"But... are you sure about this?" Staring at the worried look on his face, I rolled my eyes. "Of course, I will stick with Lisa and make her my Luna."

"Your choice, bro.” Martin shrugged, and looked at his wristwatch. "I have to go." he gulped down the whole glass of whiskey before standing up. He left the office after.

I took a small gulp of my whiskey before dropping the glass. I stood up and left the office for my suite.

On getting there, Garvey, my guard who was stationed at the front of my suite bowed before opening the door. I walked in and my eyes landed on a small, petite figure, standing by the window side.

Having noticed my presence, she turned around and fear clouding her eyes the moment she saw me.

"Scared, huh?" Smiling, I began walking to closer to her, but she took a step back. Too bad. That was the only step to take to come into contact with the wall. I chuckled and took my hand to her pale cheek, caressing it gently.

My eyes locked on her pouty lips, which were small and inviting that I couldn't resist the urge to kiss them. As my lips met with her own, she gasped in shock, but I ignored it, moving my lips against hers as she stood, motionless.

"Bad." Pulling out of the kiss, I commented. "You are really bad at kissing."
