Chapter Fifty Nine

After hours of training, I finally called it a day. I bid Princess Riley farewell and headed back to my room, eager to unwind. I quickly took my bath before getting into comfortable clothes.

Just as I settled in, a knock came on the door. I smiled as I opened it to find Mia. "Come on in," I said, stepping aside.

"Are you busy?" I asked, shutting the door behind her.

Mia shook her head, her bright smile and sparkling eyes a stark contrast to my fatigue. She settled onto the sofa, and I joined her.

"How was your training?" she asked, her curiosity evident.

My expression faltered, and Mia's gaze turned concerned. Her hands enveloped mine, her touch warm and reassuring.

"Did something happen?" she asked, softly.

Sighing, I hesitated before speaking. "I couldn't open a portal."

Mia's brows arched. "Why?"

I recounted Princess Riley's words, and realization dawned on Mia's face. "That's sad," she whispered, her eyelids dropping.

I forced a smile. "It's fine. I just need to keep trying."
