We sat in silence for a while, and I leaned my head against his shoulder, feeling a wave of sleep wash over me. However, I didn't want to fall asleep there because it might be difficult for him to carry me inside. As if reading my thoughts, he leaned back and rubbed my back.

"Go ahead," his deep, nonchalant voice said, and I nodded, too tired to fight it at the moment.

I didn't immediately drift off to sleep, and I was awake when he shifted me into a more comfortable position. This time, sleep claimed me instantly. When I woke up, I found myself in bed. As I sat up, the sheets fell into my lap, and I glanced around, realizing that I was alone. However, the empty space beside me indicated that I hadn't slept alone.
