Birthday Gift

Lucius woke up to the voices of the pack ladies as they waited outside his door to attend to him.

"For the first time I await a gift for my birthday." He smiled as he let them in.

"The alpha is smiling." One of the maids whispered to the others and they blushed. Then they did his bed and set up his bath.

"I'll handle the rest." He dismissed them and they left him to his peace and quiet.

The whole pack house was busy, they were setting up the crown room for the big celebration. The diamonds and gold formerly in vault were used to decorate the pillars of the throne room.

The throne was cleaned with the rarest oil to make it shine and a red carpet was used to path the way to the throne. Numerous food was set, placed, and exhibited on tables, the meats smelt like happiness and the lighting of the room was like heaven.

The time set for the celebration had come and all who were representing their families arrived, the special guest from other packs also arrived and they waited for their Alpha.

Lucius was not concerned about the celebration at all, his mind was on the news the moon reader was to deliver to him today. He dressed up in one of his finest robes and brushed his soft, shiny locks back, his face looked defined.

A tall man with an upper-body muscular build. He was a man with a well-defined jawline, alert eyes, and also a smooth forehead, he does well to show it off by combing his full and long hair back.

When he was finally ready, he left his room and his guards followed him down to the throne room.

As the tall doors opened all heads bowed to welcome him respectfully in. He nodded and walked down the red carpet and took his seat on the throne. He signaled to them to raise their heads with his hand.

"Let the party begin." his Beta, Ethan said.

The guest celebrated in their own way, some danced, some ate, some drank, some gossiped and others sat quietly to admire the alpha on his throne.

"You look cheerful for one," Ethan said as he took a seat beside Lucius.

"It's not because of my birthday," Lucius said.

"Then what is it that makes you smile." Ethan was curious,

"You'll soon know." Lucius smirked,

"I could guess," Ethan said

"Then you know."

The party went on and on with a lot of activities for the Alpha's birthday. But it was called short by the presence of the moon reader. She walked into the throne room at the peak of the celebration and caught Lucius's attention.

He lifted his hands and called a stop to the noise and music. "Come forward," he said to the moon reader who was a little bit taken aback. She had no idea how long it felt for the alpha to wait for her arrival at the party.

"My alpha." she bowed and waited for him to give her a signal to rise.

"Tell me what you saw." he went straight to the point.

Everyone was silent waiting to hear what she had to say. Although, not as curious as their Alpha.

"I do not know personally the family of Eugene, but as revealed to me, your mate is the blond first daughter of Eugene."

A few people that know about the family of Eugene gasped. And murmuring filled the air.

"Quiet." Lucius commanded and stood up, with a disappointed face he left the celebration.

The moon seer stopped him in his step before he could get to the tall doors of the throne room. "That's not all I saw, I see the past, the future, and the present. The news I gave you is just the present, the past was that the girl was the child of a human who died while giving birth to your mate, because her mother was human, you are disappointed, but know this, in the future she would be the one to save or destroy the pack and everything you have built."

"What do you mean by save or destroy." Lucius turned to face the moon reader, she had gotten his attention again,

"She is stronger than what you think, she might be from the weakest home in the back, maybe the daughter of a human but she will be the strongest in the pack. Her strengths will cause the back salvation or destruction. The future is never certain but the present is, so prepare the present well if you want a good future." she conclude and bowed.

Lucius was silent, and so was the entire pack. "Our Luna is our salvation," someone said and the rest of the pack members followed to the chorus.

Lucius nodded, he liked the news, but something was unclear deep down. "We will set a date for the meeting of our Luna soon," he said before he left the throne room.

Isabella, the current wife of Eugene who was the representative of their family in the ceremony hurried out and went back home. She had no mate after the war years ago and when Eugene's human mate died she married Eugene. She hated his daughter, Iris, from his human mate. A year after they had married she gave birth to a daughter Amelia, she treated Iris as a slave and never let her outside of the house since birth, but she treated Amelia like a princess and made Amelia hate Iris too.

Iris was the first daughter of Eugene and was blonde, she always sneak out of the house at night when everyone would be sleeping because Isabella never let her out during the day, no one in the pack even knows what she looks like except her friend outside the pack. She was the same girl who the alpha had seen the night before his birthday, he had no idea she was his mate because of that curse, and neither did she know her mate was the alpha.

Without knowing what was going on, Isabella came to him and dragged her by the hair, sat her down, and took out a red dye she bought on her way home to change the color of the girl's hair.

"Why are you doing this," Iris asked as she struggled to stand back up but Isabella pulled her back down. "Don't you dare move." Isabella said.

Iris innocently sat still and obeyed as usual, she had endured all her life. The problem this time was that Isabella planned to have her killed, knowing that she is the true mate of the alpha already she was scared of the outcome if she becomes the Luna, Iris will probably take revenge on her. She dyed Iris's hair red, knowing that red her is an abomination in the pack and anyone born with red hair is banished or beheaded. She wanted to get rid of Iris fast and also make her daughter take her place.

Iris had no idea that the red dye will cause her life she thought it was one of the woman's craziness towards her again.

When she was done she told Iris to call her daughter and Iris went to Amelia's room to call for her.

"What the hell did you do to your hair," Amelia said as she saw Iris come in.

"It's your mum." Iris replied.

Amelia chuckled "Good, I would like to know what she is up to this time." She had a wicked smile on her face as she went to meet her mum.

"Iris leave us." Isabella dismissed Iris.

"You're planning to get her killed?" Amelia asked.

"Yes...but."

"Finally," Amelia said,

"That's not all, I'll make you the Luna."

"What do you mean." Amelia's brows tinted.

"At the ceremony today, it was revealed by the moon reader that the first daughter of Eugene is the Luna, I can't let Iris become our Luna, so I'll make you hear," Isabella said.

"How will you do that."

"First we need to bleach your hair too blond and you will know me as your step mum in public from now on," Isabella said and got to work on her daughter's hair.

"Wow, I can't believe I'm Luna" Amelia smiled

"Believe it now dear." they smiled as they watched Amelia's new appearance in the mirror.

Iris wondered why Isabella had done this to her hair, she bathed and let it wash away but the color wasn't removing no matter how hard she tried to wash it off.

Lucius sat quietly on his office desk as he thought of all he heard from the moon reader. "If we need salvation in the future, those that mean a war is coming?" He said, "I wonder how powerful a child from a human mixed with werewolf blood is, they are said to be weak," he stood up and paced his office space. "She is my Luna and that is what is important," he stated and toned his mind to accept it no matter what, that is who the moon goddess made just for him, he would appreciate her no matter what. "I love her already." Even without seeing her yet, his heart started yearning for her, it has been years he had waited for the moment.
