Alyssa

I don't know what I expected the castle's inside to look like, but this wasn't it. This place looks like a bordello!

A red carpet covers the floor, and expensive lamps hang from the ceiling, ornamented with diamonds and other gemstones from different parts of the world.

Couches are covering the walls, each one velvet red, and the candles positioned on every table give this place that ultimate touch of sex—it wouldn't surprise me if Azrael claimed he was a pimp. I'm expecting an escort to jump out at every corner!

"Are you coming?" Azrael asks playfully as I hesitantly follow him up a staircase.

"This isn't really what I expected this place to look like,"

Azrael chuckles. "Not as fancy as your castle, princess?"

I glare at him, which earns me yet another chuckle. He leads me further into his cave, and it gets weirder by the minute.

The other floor got way too many rooms for a castle. Music is sounding behind a close

Alyssa Waking up the next day in a room that hasn't been mine for more than twenty-four hours is strange. My eyes dart to the left, a chair is standing placed before my bed with clothes draped over it, but somehow, I find the letter stamped with a heart on it more compelling. Smiling and not knowing what to expect, I reach out my hand to grab the letter and bring it back to bed. Red hair in the color of flames is fanned out over my pillow, and my heart pounds against my ribcage in this beautiful rhythm as I claw up the envelope. Good morning, Princess Laughter finds me as soon as I spot my new nickname, but I keep reading, interested in what my new boss has in store for me. I left your new working attire on your chair while you were talking about me in your sleep. I shake my head, snorting through my nose. "I did not do that!" Maybe I made that up. "Hell, yeah, you did!

Alyssa Entering the maze was a different kind of mindfuck—the lush, green walls made of bushes straightened higher as we walked in, and now I'm almost convinced I could climb them to reach the sky. "I don't like this place," Sleepy says. "I can't believe I agreed on this," An eerie howl sound in the distance, and Sleepy immediately hides under my red hair. I resist the urge to laugh. When I met him, Sleepy had such an attitude that it surprises me to see him act like such a scaredy-cat. I clear my throat to draw Sleepy's attention. I'm still fighting that inner urge to pick him up like a toy. Although small, his presence now burns at the side of my neck. "Can you fly above the walls and look where we are going? I don't want to walk around in circles," The fairy peeps out from under my hair with a grimace. "Azrael's spell would shoot me down from the sky in an instant. I can fly in here, but only as far as the walls can reach," "Huh," I

AlyssaAs we run for our sweet, fragile lives from this Arachne person, I dig my eyes into Sleepy while panting in exhaustion."You called-..." I lick my lips and press on forward, ignoring the headache building behind my eyes. I'm about to have a migraine. "You called her a dridder?""Yup,"Sleepy is flying as fast as he can, entirely stretched out with his wings barely even moving—if he were a little bigger, he would probably be faster than the rest of us.Bigger!Suddenly, my chest sparkles with newfound hope. "Sleepy!"The fairy blinks down at me. "Should I be worried about the look you're giving me?"I shake my head while running and almost stumble over Malia's dog in the process; the little furball seems to think this is a game."No," I pant like a dog while talking, probably something I picked up from the actual dog. "I mean, can't you size-change and carry us?""You don't think I would have done that

  • Slave To The Archangel   Chapter 9

AzraelShowing emotions or even flashing someone a smile is something I try to refrain from doing. It could result in the other person dying. Falling for an angel without them loving you back will slowly crumble your heart to dust, kill you from the inside out in the most excruciating way possible. Therefore, I try to act like a heartless bastard and never carry a smile. It makes me miserable, but I've been telling myself that finding my mate is the cure, my savior, and blessing from this bitter lifestyle. Once the mating ritual is completed, the angelic charm will wear off, and people will no longer die when they fall in love with me—I think it's a cruel way for destiny to make sure an angel always picks their mate. But I have a big problem.Alyssa.Sighing, I trace the tip of my thumb down her back. My other hand is cupped under her, holding her fiercely as I stroll down the road. The feelings I have for the vampire are rising within

  • Slave To The Archangel   Chapter 10

Alyssa As I scrunch my nose, a soft fragrance of nectar and fruit juice hits my senses. I've never been a person who wakes up in the mornings since the sun would burn me to death, but it's pretty lovely keeping my eyes closed to the sound of birdsong. Like a feline, I stretch and let out a delighted yowl when something lightly massages my shoulder. Then, grabbing hold of some fabric between my fingers, I fall straight back into the warmth of my bed. I only half-open my eyes when I hear rumbling chuckles coming from above me. "You're pretty cute; you know that, right?" Was that a male's voice? Why was it so loud?! When my eyes fly wide open, Malia's face is the first thing I see. But, unfortunately, the view isn't pleasant. The werewolf is freaking flipping huge, and her childish smile looks even scarier now! "OH-MY-GOD!" I shout and crawl backward until hitting something hard behind a wall of white fabric. Whatever it is sways—

  • Slave To The Archangel   Chapter 11

AlyssaI barely slept this morning. These dreams keep haunting me, nightmares about the day my mother sacrificed herself and then looked me in the eyes, declaring her love for me.In my dreams, she does these weird things, almost as if she is trying to tell me something. Once I saw her stand by the entrance to the maze, smiling with her red lipstick and beckoning me to follow her. I can't hear what she is saying, but her lips form words that I've been trying to grasp for days. Her eyes are always so hauntingly blue; in the past, I loved how at least our eyes were similar, but these days her eyes make me shiver. What is she trying to tell me in my dreams?Stuffing my mouth with cereal, I look up right in time to catch Azrael spying on me from the doorframe. He tries to back away, pretend he wasn't there, but his blonde hair is sticking out.It seems like he is back to looking young again; good, the older version of Azrael is dangerously sexy. Someti

  • Slave To The Archangel   Chapter 12

Alyssa"I'm not wearing that thing!" I shout, not even caring that people can hear us from outside Azrael's office.Azreal is grinning at me, winking while holding up a rather revealing maid outfit. It's low-cut, black and white, with cat ears, and oh-my-god, there is even a tail!"But I specially bought this one for you!" Azrael is pouting at me, looking innocent even though I can recognize that glint in his eye. This man is purely dangerous. And I hate how attractive I find him!I'm not in love with Azrael yet, but my attraction towards him has developed into a full-time crush. The truth is, part of me would gladly jump into the sexy suit he is presenting to me, but I know he is only joking around. I don't think Azrael is interested in having something physical with me, and since I'm a virgin, I would probably pass out if he ever attempted to seduce me soberly."And I am not wearing it!" I exclaim.Azrael sighs. "There goes my fanta

SleepySmile, wink, sip, and don't think; these have been my rules for what feels like an eternity.Thinking about the past is painful; therefore, I've spent the last pathetic three years of my life drinking and partying like the cowardly prince that I was born as.Oberon.Fuck. My name doesn't fit me at all. Sleepy is what my friends call me by, and yes, ever since a random monster appeared from a random portal and annihilated my entire family, I have started to see the other fairies as my friends and family. We all have lived inside a hotel room for three years, partying and doing non-fairy stuff, like smoking weed and shrinking hookers, but things are about to change. My calling is here, and I can tell my fellow fairy people are excited to see me brimming with energy again. Indeed, they would support me if I chose to drink away my life, but they seem to prefer seeing actual life back inside my eyes. And it all began with her, a woman, of

AlyssaThe plan is simple: find Sleepy and somehow return to our world. Azreal is going to try and open up a portal. But first, we need to find my mate. I can faintly sense him. It must mean we are getting closer. Sadly, it's dark, and Azrael and I have found a cave for shelter. A fire is lighting up the cave walls, and I'm sitting with my hands reached forward. The warmth feels nice on my skin. "I didn't think vampires could get cold," Azrael comments from the other side of the fire. He is wearing a curious smile. "Yeah, but..." I hesitate before speaking, unsure if I should tell him what I'm about to say. I'm still not sure. "I think I'm becoming human again. This realm is doing strange things to me, and I'm not even weak to the sun anymore. My skin might be pale, but I no longer burn.""Interesting... Do you think it's only because of this being the realm you came from? I have a hard time believing you could handle the sun back in our realm, err, the realm we lived in."My chest

  • Slave To The Archangel   Chapter 50

AlyssaI stare at Azrael, unable to move because he has hit me with the truth. The strings of my heart are playing a tune of surrender. It's tired of running from the spiraling heat in my chest. And I agree—I can't flee forever. Not when Azrael's eyes are imprinted into my mind. He is like a spreading infection. When he was gone, I couldn't focus. It was like someone had taken all the colors from my eyes and painted the sky black.I was in pain when Azrael was gone, and now he is here—so why can't I just be honest with myself and take what I want? Why am I afraid?I wet my lips. "We should..."I can't finish the sentence. Something unnamed is swelling between us, warm and tender. It gives life to Azrael's eyes, and his features show radiant humor. Does he have to be so beautiful? He gives me sappy butterflies without even trying."We should what?" Azrael is watching me while walking. "Fuck? Because that would be a great idea."

  • Slave To The Archangel   Chapter 49

AlyssaAzrael is eyeing me with severe eyes. "So you said the ones who kidnapped Sleepy smelled like cat people?"I inhale. In the past, I was more at ease with Azrael, but now there is electricity in the air. I should focus on the mission to find and save Sleepy before making it back to our world, but Azrael is making it somewhat hard.He has those bedroom eyes, and the mate-bond is like a sweet, romantic melody in my ears whispering, "You know you want him,"I need to get a grip, but it's easier said than done. Azrael is all curious eyes and smiles. It's seriously distracting. One glance and the man can reduce me into a nervous wreck."Yeah... And the other cat person called Sleepy's captor for "boss," so I imagine he is someone powerful.""Hmm..."Azrael taps his chin with his blonde hair falling into his eyes. He seems deep in thought, so I steal a glance of him. I absorb the view of his large shoulders and follow them down to his

AlyssaI slowly back away from the large angel. Azrael is glaring daggers at me, and it's making me uncomfortable. Blonde hair falls into his eyes, and his jaw is ticking with words unspoken. I'm not sure what Azrael's intentions are, but they can't be friendly, judging from his angry expression. And I would be a fool to stick around for too long—the angel could harm me with a move on his hand, squish me like a bug.Azrael is scary."Hello..." I lick my lips, trying to find words: his eyes, violet crystal, zero in on me, and it adds pressure. "I've been looking everywhere for you, but uh... Something tells me you don't remember me?""You're wrong." A smile, cruel and cold, seizes his lips. "I remember you, Alyssa. I gave my life to save you and—"I gasp, interrupting his hateful speech. I've never experienced a true mate bond in my entire life, but there is no doubt about it. Flames are dancing in my chest when I lock eyes with A

  • Slave To The Archangel   Chapter 47

AlyssaWhen I open my eyes, an elderly lady with cat ears glares down at me while holding clothes in her arms. She is dressed in this medieval maid attire and throws me an identical-looking set of clothes. The colors are mainly white and brown."Well, get on with it then! Put on your clothes, lass!" The lady sounds upset with me, stressed. "My name is Esme, and the master doesn't like to wait! He is sleeping right now, and it's our job to clean him up after his latest battle. Hurry!""E-Excuse me?" My voice comes out high-pitched."What is it you don't understand?" Esme pulls me up from the mattress beneath me, and I squint at the sun coming in through the window, but I'm not hurt by it. It seems the feather around my neck is still determined to protect me."Stop dreaming and put on your clothes!"Startled by the tone of her voice, I stand straighter and nod at the bossy lady—I can already tell it's not wise messing with Esme. "Yes!"

  • Slave To The Archangel   Chapter 46

Alyssa Sleepy and I are walking through the forest after disembarking the ship. The impossibly tall pine trees seeming to reach for the stars reminds me of home, yet the atmosphere is different. The winds traveling past us seem colder somehow, and the air is heavy to breathe. Every pant vaporizes, and I blink away frost from my eyelashes, shuddering. "It's so freaking cold!" My lips are quivering. Sleepy chuckles. "Well, it's autumn, not summer." "The seasons seriously change too quickly in this world!" "Agreed." "I'm starving too," I complain, wishing I had a coat to pull over my body. I'm snotty and probably close to running a fever. "But it doesn't look like we will find any nearby restaurants." "Meh, why not eat from nature?" My mate shoots me a charming smile. His hands are resting behind his head, and the muscles in his arms are bulging. How he isn't freezing is beyond me. "From nature?" I snort. Sleepy ca

  • Slave To The Archangel   Chapter 45

Alyssa After some fun with shrinking and some much-needed cuddles, I'm sharing a blanket with Sleepy on deck. The boat is approaching land, and the skies have cleared, leaving the morning sun to sweep in through the cracks in the clouds. I sink further into Sleepy. I'm sitting in his lap, and with a content sigh, I relax my entire body weight against his chest, which seems to be made of steel. His arms curl tighter around me in response. My head is tucked between his shoulder and neck, and he smells great, like sea salt and the ocean mixed with his usual nectar. Neither of us says a word as the sun shines brighter above us. I'm so warm and reasonably confident I could die a smiling woman nestled against the firm expanse of his chest. I don't think I will ever be able to return to sitting alone, not after using him as my couch. "Alyssa, look over there!" Sleepy nods ahead of us, whispering into my ear in a tender voice. "I think I see our new h

  • Slave To The Archangel   Chapter 44

AlyssaStrength isn't how you avoid trouble—it's how you act when put under pressure and your solution to getting out of the darkness. Right now, I'm battling for my life. It's getting harder to fight by the minute, yet the pain in my limbs is only fuelling my will to survive.I scream and punch a siren in the face, gritting my teeth and roaring before slamming my boot into another one's stomach. Even though I'm engaged in a losing game, a fire is raging on within my chest. The night might be cold, but my fists are heated."Why won't you give up?""Girl, you won't win this fight."I keep on struggling."Ah, you're getting tired."I throw another punch, screaming in vain when the sirens won't shut up. They keep harassing me, hugging my exhausted body when sweat has broken over my skin.A tongue flickers by my earlobe. "You're weak."Those words awaken more adrenaline, and I break free, crying out into the night as I

  • Slave To The Archangel   Chapter 43

Alyssa Two months have passed since we defeated Fabian. And I still long to hear your voice again, watch your lips as you form the words to call me princess. I've been working hard on getting on this boat, and Sleepy has been making money too. We are fine. We are smiling. We are surviving. Yet I still miss you. "I swear to god that I will commit suicide and throw myself overboard if we eat the same slobbery fish for another day!" I grimace at the bitter flavor and shudder in disgust. "Surely, there must be better things in the sea. Why aren't they catching shrimp or lobster?!" I grumpily dig into the fish again, aware of the amused laughter coming from above. "Hey! It's not that bad!" Sleepy hangs his head like a bat and smiles down from the top of our bunk bed. Green hair falls around him like a mane, and I laugh at his big smile. We are eating dinner and praying the boat won't sink and disappear in the waves—t
