VIOLET
I come back to my room and this time, Wolf doesn’t follow me. He can sense emotions right? Then, he must have sensed I was embarrassed and angry at myself so he made a good choice by staying behind and letting me walk away.
As I close the door to my room, the heavy weight of all the revelations and of all the burdens comes crashing down on me. It hits me hard and I slump down on the bed.
I just went from not knowing who I was and what I was…then to knowing that everything in my life — everything small and everything huge was an absolute lie.
It’s gut wrenching. Of course.
But, it feels like something has been freed inside me. I finally feel a little familiar with myself.
Although, I am not sure what I want to do with these powers. As Wolf said, an Orpheuns had the power to kill the greatest of werewolves — a king then doesn’t it mean
VIOLET“ THAT…I will tell you later… ” Gysla picks up the fork and goes back to eating her food in silence.Cora snaps out of the daze and continues to eat like nothing happened and as if she was not sitting still like a statue just now.I glance at everyone, one — by — one. Then, I look at Wolf who is glaring at the table, his eyes lost in some deep thoughts. The silence is heavy in the room and no one is actually addressing it.Suppressing the unanswered questions, I pick up my fork and begin to eat the fried egg that Elias placed in my plate only God knows when.*****When we are done eating, everyone gets up and leaves but I stay seated and think about Gysla’s words. The images, the reflections, the voices…they are all evil? Did she mean this?I am glad the reflection which continued to repeat that it was in fact me, was not me. The girl in the mirror must be
VIOLET“ Okay. You already knew that, didn’t you? Then why are you worrying about it now? ” I step inside the office and slowly walk to the table.“ You are right. I thought we will still have a lot of time even after you turned eighteen but now I am realising that we can’t wait until you learn to master all your abilities. ” Wolf sighs and looks away.I take a seat on the chair in front of Wolf and relax back a little.“ Something must have happened to make you think of all this so sudden. ” I voice out my thoughts, not wavering from the original question. It’s scary to me that I can now easily talk to him and I can force myself to push all the memories at the back of my mind so they never resurface and interfere with these peace—making path we are walking down.“ Just like this pack…” Wolf starts and looks me straight in the eye. “ I had m
VIOLETI look at Wolf for a while, my eyes fixed at his.“ What relationship did you have with Katrina? ” I can’t help but ask the question which was struck in my mind for a while.Wolf’s eyes harden. I might have crossed the line.I nod my head to myself and get up from the chair. “ I understand. It’s one of the things you don’t want to talk about. ”“ Yes. ” Wolf is quick to reply.I feel disappointed. It won’t be wrong to say that I still expected him to prove me wrong and tell me about this too like the many things he had revealed to me.“ What is your plan exactly? ” I lift my head and my eyes collide with his again.A moment of silence passes between us. I watch him thinking the question through.“ Once you master all your skills, I will
VIOLETI wait for Cassius. Time seems to have slowed down. The eerie noises of the frightening, dark forest cause my hair to rise on their ends many times, but I continue waiting for Cassius to come and take me back to the town. But as more time passes and the forest begins to seem more terrifying, I start to lose the hope that he is returning any time sooner.Still, I wait for him, my knees pulled to my chest, my arms wrapped around my knees as I scan the surroundings. To my surprise, my vision has cleared a bit and I can now make out most of the things around me. Perhaps, my eyes adjusted to the darkness after spending too much time here.I inhale deeply and place my chin over my left knee.‘ He is not going to come back. ’ The male voice whispers in my head for the uncountable time. The spirit’s voice has been saying the same thing to me from the time Cassius has left me behind. This voice is the
VIOLETA loud growl makes my eyes snap open. My heart jumps in my throat and I jolt up.Goosebumps rise all over my skin when I scan the surroundings with scared eyes.Another growl pierces the air, making my heart tremble in my chest. Is it Cassius? Or someone else? But did they have to take their wolf form?I gulp and try to calm my rapidly beating heart by placing my hand over my chest.Slowly, I get up from the hard ground and look around me to find out where the wolf is. Everything seems dark once again. It’s hard for me to make out everything.I hear the twigs breaking from behind me and instantly turn around to see what’s there.I can make out the silhouette of the animal stalking towards me. I breath deeply. It must be someone from the pack.A voice snickers in my mind all of a sudden, confusing me.“ Are you…” Is it stupid of me to try to talk t
VIOLETNothing happened as I expected — which is quite normal and doesn’t even surprise me anymore.I wake up when the rays of bright sun heat up my face, making me feel like I am being barbecued.I am in hell.My whole body is burning up, my eyes feel heavy just like my head. I try to open my eyes, but the dried blood is acting like glue and it’s nearly impossible to see anything.I lift my right hand and touch my cheek. It’s double the normal size which means it’s swollen.I bring down my hand and close my eyes again. All my movement ceases like I am a robot instead of a — I don’t know what to call myself. Not human, not witch, not werewolf, not a mere Oracle.Let’s just say I am somewhere in between all of them. Period.
VIOLETI am back in the same place — The darkness spread all across me. I am sitting on what feels to be a hard and cold floor. For the first time, I see a door in front of me. It’s white and Golden and it stands out in the surrounding darkness.Although I see the door, I still can not move from my spot. The eery silence fills my figure, making me sigh to myself. It’s a dream — a nightmare. I know, but it always feels too real to be just a nightmare. From my right side, I see a figure dressed in white gown floating toward me. She is far from me, but I know she is my Mom.She floats closer to me and sits down beside me in silence. I turn to look at her and see her lips move, words forming and falling but never reaching my ears.I hardly ever hear anything in this dream. I can only ever feel and see. And right now, it hurts to see her.
VIOLETWolf’s muscles become tense at my question. His eyes slowly move to mine and he instantly looks away as if he is scared that he won’t be able to tell me anything if he continues looking at me.“ Uh—Wolves don’t usually leave their territories…you know. ” His voice is a mere whisper, not that usual powerful and dominating at all.“ You are hiding something right? ” I muse, a smile threatening to break on my lips. His ears turn red and his eyes become wide. I caught him,.“ Yes. ” He blurts, keeping his gaze fixed at the wall. Then, he instantly corrects himself. “ I mean No. Of course not. I am not hiding anything. ”“ Believable.” I whisper, the smile finally spreading on my lips.A wave of pain travels up my left arm, reminding me of my condition and my smile falls.
