Chapter 14: The Mark (Part Two)

I wanted to believe that I changed and, he won’t be able to recognize me. But I did recognize him, I never forget so easily especially the people I love. And the first thing he said to me was ‘Do I know you?’ We were in the market so I didn’t want to cause a scene, I simply told him, I was sorry. I left him.

But deep inside me, I knew who I saw. He was Edward, the first guy I ever loved. To my greatest shock. . .” She bursted in tears, Diana embraced her in her arms. 

“ You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want to. I didn’t mean to bring your past back to you.”

“ You deserve to know, Your highness.” She broke the hug. “ That night, Freya came to tell me that her mom wanted to see me. Then we were both going to answer her mother. . .” She licked her lower lips. “ I saw Edward, he was talking to His majesty. I couldn’t even call his name, all I did was to stare at him. Every time I see him, I always look at him, hoping that one day he will look me in the eyes and tell me that he remembers me.”

“ Did he?” Diana asked.

She shook her head. “ He never did, so I never bothered about it. I never want to bother about it anymore, that is why I always pray that your relationship with his majesty will be the best no other alpha has ever had.”

“ Who is this Edward, and what is his relationship with Alpha Derek?” Diana asked sternly.

“ Edward is his majesty’s beta, the first of his pack.” She replied. “ Please, don’t talk to him. I don’t want you to remind him of this.”

“ Don’t worry, I won’t tell him about you. I just wanna have a word or two with him. But it’s definitely not about you, trust me.” She offered an assuring smile to her.

He waited for night to come, and he waited for her to sleep. Not visible – but unknowingly – to everyone who were in the fortress, he gently walked into her room.

After hundred years of waiting and searching, he was finally staring at his long lost wife, Selena. She looked so beautiful while she sleeps, and the soft sound of her breath tickled his heart. 

He hated humans, but he felt so cold towards her. And by mere staring at her face, he could see Selena’s image appear on her face.

“My Selena. My Love. I have patiently waited for your return, and now you finally have, I am here to take you home.” He caressed her cheeks. “ I will take you home, sweetheart. “

He desperately wanted to take her home, but something was preventing him from taking her. 

He moved closer to her body, staring at the calm beauty on the bed.

*Why…?* He wondered.

Why is his heart aching for her?

Why is he dying to look into her eyes??

Sitting beside her body, he rubbed her hair, feeling the soft texture of it against his fingers.

“ For hundred years I’ve waited for you, princess. Hundred years I’ve wanted you so desperate and now I have found you, why do I have to look at you with such pity?”

His hand rested on her cheek, “ I have waited for so long, I can’t wait any longer. Please, Diana, come home with me. “

He shifted the fabric of her cloth, exposing the left side of her shoulder.

He leaned his head to her skin, sniffing in her sweet scent.

He opened his mouth, his canine teeth fused out touching the surface of her bare skin.

Slowly, but gently he sank his teeth into her skin then out, leaving a mark on her. Different from that alpha Derek had gaven her on her wrist.

Staring back at her face, he drew his face close, his lips touching hers.

For some seconds his lips were on hers, pulling away he rubbed her cheeks once again.

“ I’ll always be with you, Selena, always… “

He held the hand which Derek marked her. He felt a burning feeling pass from her veins into his and he drops her hand involuntarily. 

He frowned on seeing Derek’s mark. Is that why he can’t take her at the moment? The force which exerted from Derek’s mark was so strong that it opposed to his. And as far as Derek’s mark is concerned, he was never gonna have her.

“Derek.” He cursed. “That little son of a bitch. You think your mark will seize her for long? You don’t know who you are dealing with. After I am done destroying this mark, and I finally have her, I will make your life a living hell for what you did.”

Diana mumbled as she changed the position of her body, facing to the mirror. She sleepily blinked her eyes open, and when she saw an image from the window sitting close to her, she jerked up. Before she could turn to her side, the image was gone.

She held her trembling heart, gasping heavily. She looked at the window again, there was no image but hers. “It’s just a dream, Diana, you better get back to sleep.”

She laid back on her bed, shutting her eyes close. He again appeared to her, but stood in an angle the mirror won’t have to expose him.

“You will be safer here, but only for a while, my love. I will surely come back for you. And no one, not even that son of a bitch can take you away from me.” He vanished.

Erica stopped by, she heard a voice in Diana’s room like she was having a conversation with someone. *Who will Diana be talking to at such hour of the night?* She thought to herself.

She gently opened the door, the room was dark and she could barely see the ground. She quietly walk in, trying not to cause a sound. She searched for the switch, turning on the light. Diana was sleeping, and there was no one in the room with her.

But she heard someone talking, how is it possible no one is here? She went to tap Diana, all she could get in response was a soft mumble.

She turned off the light, exiting the room.
