Chapter 6

What do you do when three hot men appear at your doorstep saying they are the father of your kids?

I would slam the door.

And that’s exactly what I did.

Or at least, I tried to.

But Kylan’s hand shot out, stopping the door just as it was about to close. “Briar, wait—”

I glared at him, shoving the door harder against his hand. “Wait? For what? For you to come in here and spew some more ridiculous claims? Because, trust me, I’ve heard enough. You guys are bloody psychos or some pranksters and trust me it's a Monday morning, I could hardly care.”

Kai chuckled, his face filled with amusement that seemed to tick me off. “We’re not here to cause trouble, Briar. We just want to talk.”

“Talk?” I repeated, my voice dripping with sarcasm. “There’s nothing to talk about. What you’re saying is impossible. Scientifically impossible! You are not the father of my children.”

Kieran, the chiseled jaw Adonis, who had been silent up until now, smirked, “Impossible is our speciality, sweetheart.”

I rolled my eyes. "First off, I am not your sweetheart. Secondly, spare me the alpha male nonsense. You think you can just show up here and claim to be the fathers of my kids without any proof?"

Kylan, the other one, stepped forward. "We have proof. We have the tests, the documents-"

"Save it," I cut him off, my anger rising. "Even if I believed you, which I don't, there's still the small matter of basic biology. It's not possible for three men to father one child."

"Ah, but that's where you're wrong, beautiful. We're not just any men. We're-"

I slammed the door shut, cutting him off mid-sentence. "I don't care who you are or what you claim to be. Get off my porch before I call the police!"

“Mama, who was that?” Finn’s voice startled me, and I turned to see him standing in the hallway, rubbing his eyes. Luna peeked out from behind him, both of them looking at me with innocent curiosity.

“Just some people I used to know,” I said, forcing a smile. “Don’t worry about it, sweetheart.”

I stormed out of the house, still fuming from the encounter with the three men. My thoughts were that of disbelief and anger as I walked briskly toward the car. My nurse assistant, Rachel, was already inside, bouncing with excitement, her grin practically splitting her face.

"Oh my goddess, Briar, I'm so excited!" she squealed the moment I opened the door. "I heard the Lycan kings are coming to the fair today! Oh just imagine how far they have to travel to come to a little town like ours."

I raised an eyebrow, sliding into the passenger seat. "The Lycan kings? What are you talking about?"

Rachel's eyes widened as she stared at me in disbelief. "You know, the three brothers who rule the Lycan packs? They're like, legendary! Everyone’s been talking about it. I can't believe you haven't heard!"

I laughed, "Right, you mention them all the time. Sorry I had a funny morning.”

Rachel's interest piqued. "What happened?"

"Three crazy men showed up at my doorstep claiming to be the fathers of my kids," I said, still fuming at the audacity.

Rachel's jaw dropped. "Wait, what? That's insane. Probably just scammers or some sick prank on a single mum. Saw that on the internet once.”

I shook my head. "You'd think, right? But they were dead serious. Even knew my name."

"That's... creepy," Rachel said, her excitement dimming slightly as concern took over. "But still, they probably just did their research. You know how people can be."

"Well, they came to the wrong place,” I replied. "I told them exactly where they could shove their lies."

Rachel chuckled nervously, starting the car. "Good for you, Briar. I can't believe the nerve of some people. But seriously, if they try anything else, you should call the police."

We arrived at the fair, and the festive atmosphere immediately began to chip away at my lingering frustration. Colorful stalls lined the grounds, filled with games, food, and crafts. The smell of popcorn and cotton candy filled the air, and the sound of children laughing and people chatting animatedly created a lively backdrop.

Rachel and I walked through the crowd, her enthusiasm infectious as she dragged me from one stall to the next. But even as I tried to immerse myself in the activities, my mind kept circling back to the three men. Who were they really? And why did they seem so convinced that they had some claim over my children?

I hardly remembered that night except I felt a lot of hands on me.

Could it be possible that they are indeed the father of my children?

Rachel was chattering about one of the rides when we heard a commotion near the entrance. A small crowd was gathering, people whispering excitedly as they craned their necks to see what was happening.

"What's going on over there?" I asked, curiosity piqued.

Rachel's eyes lit up. "Oh my god, do you think it’s them? The Lycan kings?"

I sighed, but allowed her to pull me toward the growing crowd. As we got closer, I noticed that people were stepping aside, making way for three tall, imposing figures.

My heart skipped a beat as I caught sight of them—Kai, Kylan, and Kieran.
