I want a new mom.
Malcolm couldn’t hide his shock. His son had never made such a request. Never.
“Did Granny talk you into this?” This must definitely be the handiwork of his matchmaker of a mother who wouldn’t stop nagging him to get married again—an experience he doesn’t ever want to go through.
Right now, all he cared about was making money. And more money.
He was literarily married to his money.
The small boy shook his head in a negative answer, his cute puppy eyes very irresistible. He couldn’t sleep the entire night. even when he slept, it was his new friend that occupied his dream. He had grown to like her. There was something about her he just couldn’t resist. He only wanted to be with her for the rest of his life. He wanted to look at her as his family.
“I want a mom.” He had this determination in his eyes that kinda scared his father.
Malcolm grinned, “Let me guess, you met someone?”
Bryan’s eyes darkened. He wasn’t used to discussing his personal life with his father. He didn’t want to. “Are you going to grant my request?”
Malcolm looked at his son who was acting just like him that moment. No. he definitely wasn’t this cold—or was he?
“I’ll think about it.”
But Bryan wouldn’t hear of it. “I need a yes or a no.”
Malcolm’s aura turned chilly, “To your room now, young boy!”
Bryan twitched and stood up, his expression not changing for a bit. That was typical of his father especially when he wanted to avoid a discussion. Glaring hard at him one last time, he turned and stomped to his room making sure to bang the door hard behind him. Somehow, he knew his father wouldn’t easily agree to this madness of a decision but he was willing to do anything to get a yes—even if it meant acting repentant and obeying every word his father said.
Malcolm sighed, closing his laptop shut. He couldn’t work; not when Bryan’s words came taunting him. Ever since Bryan grew big enough to understand what his mother did, he hadn’t talked about her or anyone of the opposite gender. Even the nannies he got for him all quit their jobs within a week because he made them miserable on purpose. And now, he was asking for a mother. He tried to imagine who this new friend of his son is. She must be a very high class person to be able to change his son’s steel heart. Well, he was going to find out who she was.
“Good morning, Dad.” Bryan’s chubby voice woke Malcolm who was still asleep on a king size bed dressed in white sheets. Malcolm opened his eyes and saw his son standing beside him with a tray containing breakfast in his palm.
He was amused. “I know what you’re trying to do, Bryan. And you can stop now.”
Bryan flashed a smile, “I brought you breakfast.”
Malcolm knew Bryan only needed something from him, “What do you want, Bryan? You are only like this when you want something.”
His little eyes brightened, “A mom. I want a mom.”
Not again!
“I’m still thinking.”
For a minute, his bright face turned dull. “Please say yes, okay?”
Malcolm snickered. He definitely loved this version of his son
“Sir, there is a man wanting to see you…” Warren’s secretary announced, entering his office. “I thought I made it clear to you, Mark. I don’t want to see anybody for the rest of the day. Send him out. He can return tomorrow if he wants.” Warren growled, his voice sounding both impatient and angry. It was the second day. Tomorrow, Malcolm Knight’s car will arrive and he was yet to make a decision. He needed to think carefully. He wasn’t about to give his daughter up for the mistake of someone else. Telling the Billionaire the whole truth would be like making up excuses for what had happened. He needed to thread carefully. After all, he still valued tittles and positions. “Sir…” “Get lost!” He didn’t even bother to spare the poor secretary a look. “So grumpy on a lovely afternoon, aren’t we?”W
"I want Michelle Byrne." Warren peered at the man sitting opposite him looking for an evidence to convince himself that it had been a joke but his face remained dark and unsmiling reminding him that Malcolm Knight never minced words. “You are kidding, right?” He asked, unable to convince himself that he had heard well.Malcolm Knight didn’t reply, instead, he perked up his brow. “Preposterous! There is absolutely no way I am handing my daughter over to you for money.” Warren was angry. His insides burned. He had thought Malcolm would ask for a share of his company or even try to push his company under Knight Conglomerates but his daughter?God! Did this man even know the value of family?Did he think people could be bought with money?Malcolm puffed out a ring of smoke like nothing had happened. “If I were you, Mr. Byrne. I’d put a lid o
Michelle fell with her back on the bed limply, her nude chest rising and falling in quick successions. Christian still gave the best sex ever. She turned and looked at the man beside her, “You sure are going to be the end of me.” “Then I’m glad it’s me, Milady.” A baritone voice growled just beside her.Michelle beamed with smiles as she surveyed the sexy man beside her, basked in beads of sweat and reminding her so much of a nude male model in the front page of a sex magazine. He was just what she needed. A combination of class and beauty. Unconsciously, she reached out for his face, leaning on an elbow and began to play with his luxuriously styled hair. “Seems you’ve hadn’t had enough of me just yet.” He sang. She yawned, “No, but I’ll pass. We barely closed our eyes last night.”He shrugged and without warning, he reached out for her soft mounds, e
Warren sat quietly at a corner listening to the conversation between his wife and daughter. Of course, she had disagreed just as he had expected, unlike Grace, his wife. He had known Grace to be a greedy woman from the onset but he never expected she would go this far. She had agreed without question even when he had withheld the name of the ‘big shot’ asking for their daughter’s hand in marriage.Marriage?Well, that was the lie he had to tell her else, she might end up disagreeing. He had managed to withhold the name without raising suspicions. It had been Malcolm’s command. After hearing his daughter’s firm rejection, the rest of their conversation didn’t matter anymore as he left the room, barging into Lauren’s room without even bothering to knock. She was the genesis of all the problems, after all. “Dad?” Her voice was shaky, like she was in one of her several depressing moods. She stood by
Lauren stood unmoving for hours, still unable to apprehend what had taken place moments ago.Marriage? She was going to get married? As Michelle? Tomorrow?Questions after questions flooded her brain and the only answer she could give for each question was tears. Was this her punishment for being born out of wedlock? It was never her fault that she was conceived but yet, in the end, she remained at the receiving end. Here she was thinking offending a big shot and losing her jobs was the most dreadful thing that could happen to her but now, she was damn getting married. What the hell? All her life, she hadn lived at the mercy of her stepmother and stepsiblings just to win their approval. She had been paying for her mother’s sins for years now. She had willingly let her stepmother hit and instil inhumane punishment on her but now, she was fucking twenty-five and ther was no way she would let them take over her life. Not anymore. She was going t
…Lauren woods will cease to exist. You will become Michelle Byrne…Lauren’s entire body was numb from walking but she didn’t stop. She was getting married.I’m getting married! Her entire system screamed. From tomorrow, she would cease to exist. The world was cruel. The whole damn world was cruel. And then, she had thought living her entire life like a slave was the worst thing that could ever happen to her.She turned and stared at the pond beside her. How she had gotten there was unknown to her; but well, she needed the privacy. With a sigh, she lowered herself unto the grass, still engrossed in her thoughts. She could only wish time came to a halt.Bryan stabbed the vegetable on his plate with his fork. He wasn’t hungry one bit. He had lost his appetite. Last night, he had dreamt about her, his new friend. He missed her.He wanted to be in her arms again. Having c
“Aunty?”Lauren jerked and quickly turned only to see an overjoyed small boy jumping like someone offered his favorite bar of chocolate. “Bunny?” she was quite surprised. “Hello Aunty.” He waved at her.Lauren was suddenly reminded of her marriage. Will she give birth to a child who would be neglected by his father like Bunny? Suddenly, the tears she had been fighting welled her eyes again and unable to bear it, she gathered him into her arms, sobbing silently.Bryan couldn’t hide his joy as he saw her. He had already drafted out what they would do in his mind and how he would persuade her to follow him home and meet his Dad so he could convince his Dad to make her his new mom. Unfortunately, his entire imagination was burnt to ashes the minute she gathered him into her arms and began to cry.Huh?First, he was confused but soon, his confusion was replaced by
Gazing at the fading moon through the window, Lauren propped herself against her bed board with folded knees that carried the weight of her arms. She sighed. Ever since she returned back home the previous evening, she hadn’t had a wink of sleep. She couldn’t sleep. Not when in hours, a car would come for her and that would mark the end of Lauren Woods. It still hurt. Despite the fact that she reminded herself times without number that she had caused it by offending a big shot but in the end, it didn’t stop her from sobbing. Her stepmother had drummed into her the previous night not to spoil her face with her fake tears. For a minute, she tore her gaze from the clear sky to look at the expensive dress borrowed from Michelle’s wardrobe for her to wear. She didn’t want it. She didn’t want any of it. She only wanted to be free.Tears escaped down her cheeks. This was going to haunt her for the rest of her life. She could on
