Chapter 11 – Silas

The low hum of voices filled the dining room, but I barely heard them. My mind was elsewhere—still stuck on the girl sitting beside me. Hyacinth Clausen.

It felt like a cruel twist of fate. The fiery woman I couldn’t forget, whose defiance had ignited something primal in me, was now... my stepsister? The thought gnawed at me. I tightened my grip on my fork, as if the pressure could drive the thought out of my mind. It felt wrong, unnatural, like some sick joke played by the gods to remind me of my sins.

Her scent—wild, untamed, and uniquely hers—teased me, stronger than the aroma of freshly brewed coffee or the rich scent of roasted bacon. Every flick of her hair, every stolen glance, every breath she took hit me like a hammer, breaking down the walls I’d so carefully built.

I had worked so damn hard to control myself, to erase the memory of her from my mind. But now, here she was, as if fate was reminding me I couldn’t outrun my past.

Chapter 12 – HyacinthThe moment Silas walked away, the tension he left in his wake felt like a storm hovering just above the horizon, ready to unleash chaos at any moment. I sat there, frozen on the stone bench, the sunlight now a warm contrast to the icy chill he'd left behind. His words echoed in my mind: "You’re not ready for my truths."The arrogance. The nerve. What truths could he possibly have that would shake me? He thought he could dictate what I was or wasn’t ready for, like I hadn’t endured my fair share of hell. It made me want to scream, to claw at something, anything, just to release the pent-up frustration twisting inside me like a coiled spring.I wasn’t weak. I wasn’t fragile. And yet, here I was, feeling like a marionette dangling on invisible strings, with Silas Vercetti as the puppet master.I took a deep breath, willing my nerves to settle. The garden around me seemed oblivious to the chaos inside my chest. Flowers swayed lazily in the breeze, vibrant colors dott

Chapter 13 – SilasThe weight of what I was feeling—what we were both feeling—was becoming harder to ignore. The pull between us was undeniable, and it was only a matter of time before it snapped.I didn’t know what scared me more: the thought of giving in to it or the possibility that she might not feel it too.The house was quiet when I returned, too quiet. I found myself walking the halls aimlessly, as though the very walls held answers that I couldn’t seem to reach. I needed to get out—escape for a while—but I knew the second I left, I’d be pulled back into the same cycle. The same temptation. It wasn’t just the attraction. It was her defiance. Her fire. Hyacinth was nothing like the women I’d known, nothing like the ones I could control with a glance. She fought me. She questioned me. And it made her irresistible.I stopped in front of the study. Gerald was inside, reading over some reports. I knocked once and entered.“You don’t knock on doors, Silas,” Gerald said without lookin

The tension between Silas and me was palpable, suffocating even. I could feel it with every breath, every glance he threw over his shoulder at me.I hated how much it affected me. The way he made my heart race without even trying, how he could tear through my walls with a look or a touch. It wasn’t supposed to be like this. Chapter 15 – SilasThe night air felt thick around me, every breath a reminder of the tension between Hyacinth and me, thick enough to choke on. I could still feel the heat of her skin against mine, the taste of her lingering on my lips like a drug I couldn’t quit. And yet, all I wanted was to distance myself from it, from her. But it was too late for that now.I’d kissed her. I’d let myself get lost in it, lost in her, and I knew I couldn’t walk away from this. I couldn’t pretend it hadn’t happened, couldn’t pretend the storm that had always been brewing between us hadn’t finally broken. But that didn’t mean I had to like it.I dragged my hand through my hair, trying to clear the fog in my mind. Every instinct in me screamed to run, to pull away before this spiraled into something I couldn’t control. But every time I looked at her, I felt like I was drowning, sinking deeper into something darker, something dangerous.“What now?” I heard her voice cut through the silence, and it pulle

Chapter 16 – HyacinthI couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.I’d been trying to distract myself—by keeping busy, by staying away from Silas—but it wasn’t working. The more I tried to ignore it, the more the weight of it all pressed on my chest. The tension between us, the way his presence seemed to suffocate me, was becoming harder to avoid. And yet, every time I thought about confronting him, I hesitated. Part of me still didn’t know what I was walking into. Silas wasn’t the kind of person you could just figure out. He was like a storm—unpredictable and destructive.I found myself standing in the garden again, the same place where we’d shared that heavy silence the other day. The flowers around me, though bright and alive, did little to lift the weight in my chest. I walked around, my fingers grazing over the petals, seeking some kind of solace in the softness of them. But nothing felt soft. Everything felt jagged, like I was holding onto shards of glass, and I wasn’t s

  • Silas   chapter 22

CHAPTER 22HYACINTH The dining room was quiet—too quiet. The clinking of silverware against plates was the only sound that filled the air. I could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on me. Silas sat at the opposite end of the table, his posture rigid, his eyes deliberately avoiding mine, as if acknowledging me in this setting would somehow shatter whatever calm he was trying to maintain.I tried to focus on my plate, but the tension in the room made it impossible. Kendall and Gerald were seated next to each other, engaged in quiet conversation, their easy familiarity only serving as a stark reminder of how out of place I felt. They hadn’t been married long, but they already seemed so comfortable with each other—so normal.I glanced up at Silas again, his jaw clenched as he poked at his food, not really eating. There was something about the way he was sitting there, so painfully distant, that made my stomach turn. The last time we’d been this close, everything had shifted. As

  • Silas   Chapter 21

HyacinthI was playing a dangerous game.Silas and I had been careful—too careful. But that didn’t change the fact that, behind closed doors, away from prying eyes, we were slipping. Every stolen glance, every lingering touch, every whispered word in the dead of night pulled us further into something we couldn’t name.Something we couldn’t stop. The fortress that was Alpha Gerald’s estate had too many eyes, too many ears. Yet somehow, in the chaos of running a pack, in the shadows of responsibility, we found slivers of time. Moments that shouldn’t have existed but did.Like now.I sat in the vast library, the scent of aged paper thick in the air. A book lay open in my lap, but I wasn’t reading. My heart was pounding too loudly for that. Silas was here, somewhere. I could feel it, the awareness of him settling over me like an unspoken truth. And then, as if summoned by my thoughts, the door creaked open.I didn’t look up immediately, but I knew. The air shifted, charged with something

Chapter 20 – SilasThe sound of the horses' hooves echoed through the woods, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t right. The sun was setting, casting long shadows across the forest as I led the small group toward the eastern boundary of the pack's territory.I’d been on edge all day, a constant nagging feeling in the pit of my stomach. The rogue wolves had been more active lately, and that was never a good sign. It was always the calm before the storm. But that wasn’t the only thing weighing on my mind. No matter how hard I tried to push it away, the image of Hyacinth lingered. Her eyes, the way she’d looked at me—like there was some unspoken understanding between us that I wasn’t ready for. I couldn’t get her out of my head.I couldn’t decide if that was a curse or a blessing. The roar of a distant wolf’s call snapped me out of my thoughts, and I motioned for the group to stop. We had to be alert, especially if we were getting close to a rogue’s territory.“Spread o
