Brooklyn went straight into town after school with Sasha, Alice and Violet. Apparently there was a local diner that was a hangout spot for the majority of high school kids and Violet had a part time job there.A bell chimed when the girls walked into the diner and Violet rushed off into the back to get changed, ready for work. The rest of the girls sat down in a booth with bright red seats and Brooklyn gazed over the menu."The milkshakes here are amazing!" Alice gushed, pointing to a part on the menu. "You've got to get one.""I thought you wanted to be healthy?" Sasha said, raising an eyebrow Alice."Screw healthy, I'm running away and declaring my life to chocolate," Alice smiled and Brooklyn laughed."I think I'll get a strawberry milkshake," she said as Violet came out in a pale pink tshirt and skirt with a white apron tied round her waist."Don't comment on the uniform," Violet said as she walked over to the girls."This will be the only time where you will see her in something
"Brooklyn, thank you so much for your help today," Ben said once the last customer left the diner. "You've been a lifesaver.""It wasn't a problem," Brooklyn smiled. "It was nice doing it again, reminded me of being back home.""In that case, I would like to offer you a permanent position here," Ben said and Brooklyn's mouth dropped. "That's if you want it?""O-of course!" Brooklyn gasped. "Thank you!""No, thank you," Ben grinned. "I'll email you your shift patterns by the end of the week and get Violet to tell you any important information. Would you be happy starting next week?""That'd be great," Brooklyn said, nodding eagerly. "Thank you so much.""It's not a problem," Ben said and checked his watch. "It's getting late, I'll let you get off.""Thank you, Ben," Brooklyn beamed and grabbed her bag and her clothes and headed to the door of the diner. "See you next week." She waved to Ben and stepped out into the cold night air. Brooklyn shivered and and rubbed her arms and started t
"My middle name is Paige? Truth or lie.""Truth."Correct.Brooklyn scowled at Harry. "I don't like you. Truth or lie?"Harry stopped the car and Brooklyn realised they were outside of her house. "Oh," Harry chuckled and turned to face Brooklyn, leaning forward like he did in the diner. "You wish that was the truth." Harry slowly raised his hand and Brooklyn froze when he tucked a piece of hair behind her ear, but he was careful not to touch her skin. "But it's not, babe."Brooklyn swallowed and quickly span round. She fiddled with the door handle, but eventually shoved the door open and stumbled out. "You're delusional, Harry," she said."Lie.""Goodbye, Harry ," Brooklyn said quickly and slammed the door. She rushed into her house without glancing back at Harry."Brooke," Brandon said. He was walking down the stairs opposite the front door. "Who was that that dropped you off?""Nobody," Brooklyn said dismissively and dumped her damp bag on the floor."What are you wearing?" Brandon
"Well, um... I'll... Er-""I think you'll find the word you're looking for is thanks," Harry said, turning in his seat to look at Brooklyn who was fumbling with her bag."Yeah... Um, thanks," Brooklyn coughed and reached for the door handle. She opened the car door, but she was stopped by Harry who reached out and grabbed her bag. Missing her hand by millimeters.Harry leaned forward and Brooklyn stiffened. This was happening too much with him.He was getting too close."I won't touch," Harry said lowly, his green eyes flickering to Brooklyn's wide blue ones. "Tomorrow? Same time?""N-no, it's fine," Brooklyn said quickly and shook her head."See you then.""I said no," Brooklyn said."And I don't really care," Harry shrugged."No," Brooklyn said sternly. "No more lifts. Harry, please leave me alone.""And why would I do that?""Because I asked you to," Brooklyn said softly."I don't like being told what to do," Harry said slowly. "Tomorrow. Be there."Brooklyn pulled her bag from Har
For the second time that day Brooklyn walked into Mrs Mental's classroom and took a seat at the back of the class. She busied herself with getting her books out and when she looked up Harry was standing by the desk."Jesus!" She gasped. "You frightened the life out of- No, you can't sit here!"Harry ignored her and sat down next to her. "I saw what happened at lunch.""You need to go.""Stacy needed putting in her place-""I need to go," Brooklyn said to herself and stood up, but Harry pushed his chair back and kicked his feet up onto the desk, trapping Brooklyn."I'm trying to talk to you.""And I'm trying to ignore you," Brooklyn frowned.Harry raised an eyebrow. "How's that going for you?""I'm finding it rather difficult," she muttered and sat back down in her seat, crossing her arms over her chest."I could say the same about you.""You find me difficult?" Brooklyn questioned."Highly," Harry nodded."Then leave me alone. Problem sorted.""But it's not a problem," Harry shrugged.
Brooklyn sat down in her last lesson of the day and pouted.Math.She despised math.Violet had told her she was also in this class, but she had been called into work early so she couldn't make it today."So it's true," a guy said confidently, sliding into the seat next to Brooklyn."Um... What's true?" Brooklyn asked, eyeing the guy cautiously."That you're even hotter close up," the guy smirked and Brooklyn laughed, rolling her eyes."Flattery will get you everywhere," she said sarcastically. The guy smiled and held his hand out. "I'm Josh, I just wanted to meet the girl who has Stacy throwing a fit."Brooklyn looked at Josh's hand and fidgeted awkwardly. "Sorry, it's not you... I'm just not a toucher," she said."No problem," Josh shrugged."What do you mean about Stacy?" Brooklyn wondered."She doesn't like you. She thinks you're a threat," Josh said and looked Brooklyn up and down. "I don't blame her.""Keep the eyes up or my threat will become reality," Brooklyn warned and snap
"Um... Bye," Brooklyn said quickly and closed the door in Harry's face. She gasped when his foot shot forward and stopped the door from closing."I don't get a thank you?" Harry asked as he pushed the door open."For what?""For the whole evening I spent tutoring you, babe.""Oh, yeah," Brooklyn said and glanced over her shoulder. "Thanks, surprisingly it helped slightly. Now, goodbye Harry.""Why are you in such a rush to get rid of me, Brooklyn?" Harry asked."Brandon," Brooklyn blurted. "He'd kill me if he saw you here.""Don't worry about Brandon," Harry scoffed."You don't have to live with him," Brooklyn sighed. "Please go, Harry.""Okay. On one condition.""What?""You let me pick you up tomorrow.""No," Brooklyn said immediately."Then I guess I'm chilling here," Harry shrugged and Brooklyn sighed."Fine. Yes, pick me up! Now go. Now!""Laters, babe," he smirked and walked off, chuckling lowly under his breath as he did so.*Brooklyn cursed when she woke up, sleeping past her
"Don't tell anyone," Brooklyn said suddenly. "You can't tell anyone what you found out."Harry's eyes hardened. "Why the fuck would I do that to you?"Brooklyn shrugged her shoulders. "To piss me off. Annoy me."Harry rolled his eyes. "Trust me, I have plenty of other ways to do that. I would never tell anyone what I found out, Brooklyn. Just like I would never push you for details, I know you will tell me when you're ready.""You always seem so sure," Brooklyn commented."I know you, babe," Harry smirked. "Like I said, I'm in your head."*"Again?" Sasha demanded, sitting next to Brooklyn in French class. "He drove you again?""How does this stuff spread so quickly?" Brooklyn groaned. "I totally planned on walking to school, but he was there. Waiting.""That's a bit stalkerish," Sasha commented."He was also at my house yesterday," Brooklyn said lowly and Sasha's eyes widened."Tell me everything!" Sasha demanded."Miss Mental wants him to tutor me," Brooklyn explained. "My aunt let
