Not only did Heidi's forehead pound with pain, but her heart was pounding as well.

Exhausted from being deprived of sleep, she dragged her heavy body down from the bed.

“What's wrong?” Standing at the door, she covered her mouth and yawned.

The maid's eyes darted from her left to right. “G- Good morning, Young Miss. It's your grandfather! He's unwell again!”

Grandpa Jeffery.

Panicked gripped Heidi's heart. Forgetting to wear even her slippers, she followed the maid down the opposite wing to Grandpa Jeffery's bedroom.

Her mother met her on the way. “Where are you rushing to, Heidi?”

“Where's Grandpa?” Heidi asked, her eyes darting across her mother's shoulders.

The woman groaned. “I need to teach that girl a lesson,” she muttered under her breath. “Why did she wake you up when you're in this condition?”

“You haven't answered my question yet, Mum.” Heidi made to walk past her to

… At The Olsens Mansion. The Next Day.Heidi sat on a chair in the mansion's grass field with Isla sitting beside her.She looked through some documents. “Ms. Olsen, the number of signatures you need to put in a day is too many. To lessen your workload, I suggest we find a new CEO now that you are the Group's President.”“It's no biggie, Isla…” Heidi murmured, busying herself with signing the documents.Isla let out a sigh. “Unfortunately, Natalie Olsen doesn't want to take up the position, do you know why, Ms. Olsen?”Heidi didn't know why. Natalie had been acting weird recently. She didn't want to take part in the company's affairs anymore. “Maybe she's more comfortable in her position as the COO,” she responded to Isla's questions, hoping those words would at least put her mind at ease.“Although most of our allies are back, there's still a lot to do, Ms. Olsen…” Isla added in a pessimistic voice. “I fear some of our clients will look down on you.”Like the clients who doubted

But instead of heading to the gates, she rushed inside the house. “Hey, why's she acting like that?” Killian frowned. “And what are you up to, Killian?” Heidi gave him a pointed look, dropping both hands on her waist. “

Jason? It had been so long since Heidi heard that name. Urgh! That crazy guy who had been so hellbent on marrying her. “You know the kind of a person he is.”“But I heard someone framed him.” Grandpa stared at her knowingly. “Didn't you spike his drink to stop your engagement?”Heidi had done questionable things to her suitors in the past all because she only desired to be with one man.Now thinking about it, she felt bad for those men. Strangely, she didn't regret any of her actions. “Uhm, Grandpa, it's all in the past now…” Heidi looked down. “And the past should be forgotten…” Grandpa Jeffery backed up her statement. “So you should have a fresh start. His father just sent me a message, Jason will be here by tomorrow evening. We'll have dinner together.”Coming to Grandpa's room was a bad idea. If Heidi knew she was going to be fed this information, she'd rather remain oblivious.“Heidi Olsen, do you have any objections?” Grandpa Jeffery used a tone that dared her to disagree.

…What better way to worsen the mood than by adding a touch of a downpour? As Lucas stood at the entrance of the large canopy that occupied the space of the mansion, gloom weighed heavily on his heart. His eyes scanned the crowd, peering at the faces hidden underneath the shades of the umbrellas.Struggling to find that familiar face, his impatience grew slowly and uncertainty clung to his heart.Heidi would never turn down an invitation to Grandpa's funeral,However, what if she didn't show up?Eyes fixed on the large gates of the cemetery, he didn't move from his spot, anticipating her entrance.“Young Master, almost all the guests are here,” the bodyguard holding his umbrella said to him. “It's time for the ceremony.”Someone was crying loudly in the background; the sound irritated Lucas. Lucas collected himself. “My apologies, Grandpa…” He apologized and then greeted the Old Man and Heidi's parents. The couple answered him in a not so enthusiastic voice. Heidi sprang to a sitting position instantly, hearing the voice coming from the door. Dread washed over, and instinctively, she pulled her baby into her arms, her eyes darting around for any possible escape route. Heidi's first instinct was to flee, but to where?“Daddy?” Her daughter, on the other hand, jumped in excitement. “Hey, Mommy! It's Daddy! Daddy's here!”The door's handle shifted as someone juggled it from the outside. The sounds of knocking increased. “Heidi, are you inside?”Lost at what to do, Heidi just stared at the door, hugging her baby. Lucas barged into the room as he kicked the door open. He came to a screeching halt right in front of her, almost colliding into the bed. “Heidi…” as he whispered her name, Heidi's eyes locked into his. Except for the subtle changes; his once dark eyes now crystal clear, his stubbled jaws and overall demeanor, everything about him was the same. All eyes turned to Harold, some blinking in shock and the rest widening. Heidi was confused too that of all people, Harold Olsen was the one who believed her.But from the look of guilt on his face and the way he sank onto the floor, literally kneeling in front of her, something was definitely fishy. “Heidi, please forgive me.”Heidi flinched when he held her knees. She stared at him, frowning. “Forgive you for what, Uncle?”“What did you do Dad!?” Zach hollered, his eyes filled with horror. The others looked fearful as well.Hanging his head, Harold shook it slowly. “I know saying this is probably too late. That night, Heidi didn't lose her child. When the police found her and Natalie, I orchestrated everything that happened after.”Several gasps spread across the room.Avoiding everyone's gaze, Harold said in a melancholic tone. “Having Heidi and Lucas Harrison together at that time meant the end of my sovereignty in this family. All eyes snapped in Heidi's direction. As her sobs echoed in the living room, they all but sprang to their feet. “Ha! I'm also seeing her!” Natalie gasped. “That's impossible, right?”“Unless we're all out of our minds!” Kate cackled. “Because we all might be seeing Heidi.”Lifting her head, Heidi glanced at everyone's face. Her gaze stopped at her mother whose expression was deadly pale. “Th- This- This isn't Heidi. My Heidi's dead!”Shaking her head, the woman staggered backward. “Who the hell summoned Heidi's ghost?”Her mother fainted immediately after saying that, and the whole room was thrown into chaos. ~During the car ride, Heidi's mind was muddled with different kinds of thoughts that brought worry to her heart. Her only solace was the little girl sitting beside her, holding her hand. “You're so quiet, Mommy…” she asked, “Is everything alright?”Heidi smiled, parting her hair to the side. “I'm okay, Baby.”“Where are we headed?” She murmured, glancing out of the car's window. “You brought me back, Mommy. Are you gonna drop me off at Nanny's place and disappear again.”Smoothing the tiny frown on the girl's forehead, Heidi's heart ached as she kept repeating that word. Disappearing hadn't be easy, and appearing again would definitely incure many repercussions. Heidi picked her up and sat her on her lap, hugging her. “I'd rather die than to disappear again.”Here she was, loathing death, something she'd actually been craving for the past three years. Her heart was an ocean of emotions and her tears never dried up, so much that her eyes were hurting. “Please, Mommy, stop crying

“For the first time, I'm agreeing with Jason's words.” Freya nodded. “Let's return her to the poor man, Heidi. We'll stay in this paradise forever.”“Don't mind them, I won't let you go.” Heidi patted her hair. She stared at Jason and Freya, communicating with her eyes. The two gave her crestfallen looks and sighed at the same time. That Night;Heidi rested on her bed, holding the baby close, and sniffing the familiar scent on her. Citrus mixed with lavender. The scent of the Harrisons Villa. A scent that only belonged to the man she loved. Whenever she thought of him in the past, she'd feel hate and remorse, but now… the thought of him brought fear to her heart, and a regret she couldn't deny. Beside her, the little girl shifted. She opened her sleepy eyes, her wide milky eyes blinking. “Why aren't you sleeping, Mommy?”“I just love staring at you.” H

From caressing the girl's hair, Heidi found herself drawing her close, wrapping her in a gentle embrace. “What's your name?” Uncertainty filling her heart, she asked in a hoarse voice. The little girl neither struggled nor made a sound of discomfort, she in fact snuggled deeper into Heidi's embrace. She murmured, “Nanny calls me Didi, but Daddy calls me Heidi.”Heidi shut her eyes, swallowing down a sudden lump in her throat. A soft laughter escaped her lips. “That's a beautiful name you have, Baby.”However, the little girl pulled away, furrowing her brows. “But my first Mommy dislikes it. She once argued with Daddy about it.”“Oh, is that so?” Sniffing back the tears threatening to burst out, Heidi forced a smile. “Why doesn't she like your name?”“Because she's a meanie.
