Chapter 2

Jada and Honey met at the university they both attended. Since wearing a uniform is not a requirement at Saint Mary’s University, they can dress up however they want.

Jada, don’t doll up though, not like Honey. Most of the time, she dons simple clothes like fitted jeans, sneakers, and tees.

Honey, on the other hand, prepares her outfit the night before. She always looks good, she has to.

The same goes for the pinks. And that’s because they are targeting a couple of hotties on the campus.

Jada’s friends are all fun to be with. During their break time, they will hang out under the biggest mango tree on campus, the one closest to the gym.

Bambi and Ada treated that spot as their own, because why not? Hanging out there lets them see the sweaty abs of the university’s gorgeous varsities, daily.

Who won’t drool?!

Well, it’s not like Jada would drool over hot bodies. She’s used to seeing those back in the States. High schoolers there are comparable to college students here, in terms of their height and build.

Jada could only shake her head whenever she heard the pinks shriek. Especially when Lyken and Kobe pass them by. Both are considered the hottest varsities in their university.

Well, they are all good-looking. You’d think it’s one of the qualifications to become a varsity. Whoever you pick, you win.

What she doesn’t understand is why Ada and Bambi are obsessed with Lyken and Kobe. Especially with Lyken, who won’t even pay an inch of attention to them. He wouldn’t even spare a glance. But her pink friends would willingly faint for him.

Jada, Honey, and the pinks are all freshmen while both lads are in their sophomore year. That is why Ada and Bambi are melancholic whenever they realize that the duo will leave the university ahead of them.

“Sheesh! I hope they fail all their subjects so they'll have to stay for another year,” they would even pray.

One day, the most sought-after varsities approached them. Jada was lying down on one of the benches, with her head on Honey’s lap, stopping her skirt from being blown by the wind.

They were busy stalking Kobe’s F******k account when they suddenly heard someone speak from behind. It was a voice they were so familiar with and they both froze.

"Hi girls!" the handsome voice greeted them. "Oh! You're looking at my account!" he added.

Jada suddenly felt the urge to stand up and check if she was right as she couldn’t see him clearly. Even Honey suddenly lifted her gaze in shock.

When Honey realized that it was indeed Kobe, her face flushed. She was caught red-handed by her crush, stalking his account.

Trailing behind Kobe was Lyken with his usual poker face. ‘Thank God we’re done checking his account.’

Because not one of them responded to the lad’s greeting, he continued to introduce himself. "I'm Kobe Quintana, by the way, and this is my best friend, Lyken Fontanilla," he said.

In a trance, Honey extended her hand to return the handshake. “Honey Perez,” she replied, introducing herself.

Jada almost laughed out loud as she didn’t dare mention her real name. Well, with a name like hers, no one would want to introduce herself like that.

"This is Jada, by the way," she added, introducing her to the handsome lad in front of them.

Jada nodded at Kobe in acknowledgment. Smiling at him timidly before turning her attention to the first book she managed to grab from the table, pretending to be reading it.

"Jada…" she heard someone whisper, not sure though which of the two guys did it. Instead of thinking about it, she chose to ignore it as her hands alone felt sweaty because of their presence.

"Shitttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt!"

They all turned around to see who squealed. It was none other than Bambi. "Hi baby Kobe," he greeted the man who was smiling at them. He was almost ready to drool because of the overflowing hotness they were seeing in front of them.

Kobe didn’t call him off because of how he addressed him. Instead, he just smiled sweetly at their friend.

Together with Bambi was Ada, rooted in his place. He looked like he had been bitten by a snake, with eyes widened and mouth open.

Both pinks didn’t expect that such hotness would grace their hangout with their presence. Both were literally surprised but with different reactions.

“Hey, byotch! What do you want me to feed you?” Bambi said as he tried to get Ada’s attention. They laughed at the pinks’ antics, even Kobe did, but Lyken remained quiet.

He is now sitting on the bench in front of Jada. However, his attention is not on them. He didn’t even care why they were laughing. It’s as if he’s looking at something, somewhere far.

"By the way Honey, can we invite you tonight? We’re planning a small outing with some of our teammates and it would be great if you could join us," Kobe brought up the purpose of why they approached them as soon as the laughter died down.

"Sure!" she quickly responded, not even giving it any second thoughts.

‘Huh! She didn't even play hard to get.’ Jada thought to herself.

"So no one will mind? Your partner won’t get mad?” Kobe asked as he pointed at Jada with his pouted lips.

Jada clearly saw the gesture, so she looked at him with her forehead creased. Kobe, on the other hand, looked shocked. He seemed like he wanted to take back what he said.

Jada also noticed Lyken looking at her. But just like how he was earlier, he didn’t speak. He just stayed mum.

“My partner? Jada?” Honey chuckled as she clarified what Kobe said. Even both pinks started laughing.

"What the fuck Jada, I didn’t know you were a tomboy!" Bambi teased and she suddenly wanted to hit him.

But because the situation was already awkward, Jada chose to smile it off. She could feel the flushing of her face, so she returned her attention to the book she was not really reading.

“Dude you’re out of your mind!” Lyken called Kobe off. Even if Jada’s head was bowed down, she could still sense the seriousness in his voice.

“Shoot! I’m so sorry! I don't mean to offend you, Jada," Kobe looked really embarrassed, his face turned red down to his neck.

“No, it’s fine,” Jada replied to clear the air.

“No, I’m really very sorry,” he insisted. “I usually see you pass by the gym. You always have your arm around her shoulder, plus you look a little boyish, so I sort of assumed that you guys were lovers,” he shamefully explained.

"No really, it's fine. It's not the first time," trying to end the conversation. Honey even looked at her, confused at what she said.

Jada was not surprised as to why Honey was confused. She did lie in front of everyone when she said it wasn’t the first time.

It’s not the first time someone has approached them in their hangout spot. But it was the first time someone mistook her for a tomboy. The worst was that she was in a relationship with her best friend.

Jada saw Kobe let out a sigh after what she said but his eyes were still apologetic. It seems like he regrets what he said, big time.

That’s why she smiled at him when he looked at her again. Jada was trying to send a message that it was all good and there was nothing for him to worry about.

"So! See you tonight?" turning his attention to Honey after seeing Jada smile. Honey, on the other hand, quickly nodded as she stole a glance at the woman at her side.

"Jada, can you come too?" Kobe asked sweetly. Lyken’s eyes flicked at him, for an unknown reason.

She scratched the back of my head, quickly thinking of an excuse to reject his invitation, “I’m not sure I can make it. We might have lots of schoolwork to do,” subtly turning down the invitation.

“Please…” Kobe even knelt on the bench, putting his hands together as if begging her to agree.

Jada looked at Honey as she lightly pinched her leg. She, too, is trying to convince her to join them tonight.

“Okay,” she simply answered. There’s no harm in going out anyway. Besides, this is something big for her best friend, so why not?

“Yes!” Kobe exclaimed. They were all startled, as his voice came out way louder than they expected.

“What about us?” Bambi butted in, pouting.

“You guys can come too! The more the merrier!” Kobe stated before facing Honey again. "So, we'll see you guys tonight?" Honey nodded and smiled.

Before both men left, Kobe handed his phone over to Honey, who quickly jotted her number down. When she returned it, she even gave him an awfully sweet smile.

When Kobe and Lyken left, the pinks were anxious. They started planning their outfits for tonight as if they were the ones who were initially invited.

Jada, on the other hand, feels a bit excited. It’s been a while since the last time she went out to have fun anyway.

It may be different from what she and her cousin usually do when she’s in the US, but the thought still excites her. What she was not excited about was the fact that she was mistaken for a tomboy.
