Myla’s POV
I led Cobalt to the packhouse. People whispered as we strolled by trying to guess why I had such a young boy following me to the packhouse instead of the jail. Finally, Barrett’s voice came through the pack link, “Alpha, has it happened? Have you found your mate?” The excitement in his voice irritated me.
“No,” I answered back not bothering to hide my annoyance. "76I found a member of the Moon Eclipse pack lost on my territory. I am doing the honorable thing by offering him safe refuge while we make arrangements to return him to his pack.” I could feel the disappointment through the pack link.
“Oh, ok, I will get a guest room ready.” With that, I closed the link.
I opened the door to the packhouse and stepped aside letting Cobalt enter. On a table next to the door was a fresh pair of basketball shorts. “Here, put these on,” I said handing them to Cobalt who was looking around in astonishment.
“Wow, this place is beautiful,” he chirped excitedly. “Our packhouse is so dark and dreary all the time. Alpha doesn’t bother to make it feel like a home.” He looked at me with a look of amazement. “You must really care about your pack’s happiness.”
I smiled at him. I did care about their happiness but, I had left all the decorating to Jade. I wasn’t much for finding colors and paint to make a place feel comfortable. “I care but, all the credit goes to my Beta’s mate. She decorated and ordered everything.” I had to admit, our packhouse was gorgeous. It was a mix of medieval meets comfort. I don’t know how she did it but, it all fits as though it was always supposed to go together. “Are you hungry?” I asked already knowing the answer.
“Yes, I am starving,” he replied, hopeful for a bite to eat.
“Lunch will be served in about 20 minutes. You are welcome to eat in the dining hall.” I turned to see a girl with brown eyes and brown hair walking toward us. “Hey, Jade. I was hoping you could watch over our guest here.” I watched her face for an answer.
“Hey Myla, yes of course. Is he a prisoner?” she asked quizzically.
“No. I found him lost in the woods. He belongs to the Moon Eclipse pack. He was separated on his way back to their pack lands from a wedding.”
“Oh, I see,” she smiled at me.
“What?” I asked curiously as to the grin she had plastered on her face.
“Nothing Myla. It’s just, well it’s nice to know you still have your maternal instincts is all.” She chuckled at the startled look on my face.
I hadn’t thought of that. The realization hit me like a ton of bricks. That was why everyone had been whispering as we passed. They were happy to see their Alpha could still be a mother figure. Well, that will cost them, I thought to myself as I crossed my arms over my chest.
Barrett clearing his throat made me snort.
“Where did you come from?” I growled knowing he had read my mind. It was part of the reason he is my Beta.
“Don’t worry Alpha, you will still be the fierce, threatening Alpha we all love.” He burst out laughing.
I shot him a warning glare, but he laughed anyway. He knew I would never hurt him or any member of my pack without a really good reason. “Please take him to the dining hall, allow him to eat lunch with the pack.” With that, I turned and stalked away.
“Will you be joining us, Alpha?” he yelled after me.
“No,” I yelled back knowing he was chuckling at my irritation. I stalked to my office slamming the door behind me. I threw myself in my chair before grabbing the list of Alphas and their numbers from my desk drawer. What is the name of the Alpha of Moon Eclipse? Reiner? Is that it? I slammed my drawer shut. Picking up my pack phone, I dialed his number.
I slammed my phone down hard enough that it cracked. “What a pig!” I spat angrily. “Typical Male Alpha, obsessed with sleeping around! I have his missing pack member and he is too busy with his whores to talk to me about getting him home! I swear, if my mate is an Alpha, I will probably reject him and spend my life single, at least that way I won’t have to put up with some disgusting pig who only cares about what he can stick his dick in!” Barrett stood silently watching as the steam poured off me. Why were male alphas always pigs? It made me question if I really wanted to find my mate.
“Myla,” Barrett started, we still have a kid here who seems to be getting anxious. He misses his family, and I am sure his family must be worried about him.” Barrett had a look of concern on his handsome face. It made him look older.
I watched him for a minute, “So, are you going to be a daddy yet?” I asked, flashing him a sly smile.
“I think so, Jade’s heat passed much quicker than normal. She wants to know but the doctor said we need to wait a few weeks before he does the test to be sure the results are accurate.” He sighed.
I knew how long he had waited to have kids. When he found his mate, he waited for Jade to be ready. Now that she was, he was happier than I had ever seen him. “I hope she is pregnant; I am going to be the best Auntie ever!” I was truly excited to see their pup. I loved them both as though they were my true brother and sister. “As your Alpha, I want to know as soon as you know.”
Barrett chuckled, “You don’t have to command me to tell you, we were already planning on it.” He flashed me an excited grin.
“Anyway, what should we do about Cobalt? His so-called Alpha can’t be bothered to take my calls. Cobalt has tried to contact his family via the pack link but due to his age, he doesn’t have the stamina to focus long enough to reach across such a distance,” I tapped my pen on my desk, it was a nervous habit I had developed when I became Alpha. I tried to think of ways to contact them. “I guess the only thing we can do is mail them a letter via snail mail.” I knew how long that could take but it seemed to be the only option we had.
“Ok Myla, I will write it and mail it out with tomorrow’s mail.” Barrett turned to leave before he stopped. “What should we do with Cobalt while he is here? He has to be getting bored by now.”
“Let him train with the pack. Since he is going to be stuck here for a while longer, might as well teach him to defend himself. Oh, and have him attend school with the other wolves his age. No use in his education slipping because his Alpha is too busy getting his rocks off with a bunch of whores.”
“Yes Myla, I will have him start in the morning.” With that, he turned and left.
I was once again alone with my thoughts. Who was this Alpha 2 and why did he think he could dismiss me so easily? I snorted at the annoyance I felt. Another male thinks they are better than me because I‘m a female. Well, if I ever meet him, I will teach him a lesson he won’t forget.
As the hours ticked by, I managed to get some work done. I sent out the orders for the needed supplies for the pack hospital. I signed a couple of requests for wolves asking to pass through my territory, and I sent out the latest announcement of the newly mated couple. I had met with them earlier and both had verified they accepted their mate. The wedding would take place in a month, on the full blood moon. The blood moon only happened once a year. It was a special moon that signaled new beginnings for all wolves. Most packs held celebrations and this year; we would also be hosting a wedding. I leaned back in my chair feeling content with my work. Stretching, I stood up and reached for the lamp on my desk, I stopped as I noticed all the crumpled-up papers strewn about. I groaned as I picked them up and dropped them in the trash. I switched off the lamp and headed out towards my suite, a good night’s sleep is all I need.
The next day, I woke up before my alarm went off. This was nothing new as sleep had become more fleeting recently. Looking at the clock, I realized it was only 4 A.M. I rolled over pulling the covers over my head. I tossed and turned hoping to get a bit more sleep. I yanked the blanket off trying to see the clock, surely an hour must have passed. I groaned loudly as I realized it had only been six minutes. “Fine, the early bird gets the worm, right?” Of course, nobody answered. I got up and threw on my shorts and a sports bra, I tied my favorite running shoes and threw my hair into my signature messy bun. I opened the door and jogged to the stairs. Taking the stairs two at a time, I reached the main door. I opened it before my guard, Jacob, stepped in front of me.
“Alpha, I did not realize it was you, where are you going so early?” He asked raising his eyebrow.
“I am going for a jog, no sense in wasting a beautiful morning.” I felt like puking at my fake optimism.
“Would you like company Ma’am? I could call someone to run with you?” I could see the nervous look in his eye as he thought about who would want to jog with me this early.
“No need, I feel like jogging alone today. Thank you, Jacob, say hello to Marna for me.”
“Yes Alpha, enjoy your run.” He stepped aside letting me jog past.
I didn’t bother to answer and instead waved as I continued on my way. The track was still damp from the morning dew. I had completed twenty-five laps before anyone else showed up to use the track. They all waved as I passed by. A couple of boys stood and watched me as I jogged around the track. I rolled my eyes, are all males pigs? I shook my head as I continued around. I did another thirty laps before I slowed to a brisk walk. Most of the male members of my pack had trouble keeping pace with me. I couldn’t help it. I had been addicted to running and then as I got older, training. My father had warned me not to train too much and remember to have fun sometimes. My mother had laughed and told me to follow my heart. Goddess, I missed them. I slowed a bit to take a sip of my water bottle when I heard it.

Myla's POV “Unknown Wolf Approaching! Warriors to the tree line! Protect the Alpha!” Wade’s voice echoed through the pack link. Wade is the captain of my warriors. He is one of the best fighters I have ever seen. I cringed as his words rang through my mind. “Protect the Alpha,” I didn’t need protecting, I could protect myself. Without another thought, I ran toward the tree line, shifting as I ran. My clothes tore as my huge wolf took control. I ran through the trees twisting and turning easily around trees and leaping the underbrush as I ran. I reached the circle of warriors who had surrounded the wolf responsible for all the commotion. I entered the circle and shifted, “shift and identify yourself,” I commanded using my Alpha tone. No wolf except another Alpha could resist the Alpha tone. The wolf did as I said. I took a deep breath as the small wolf shifted into a small girl. She couldn’t be much older than 15. “Identify yourself,” I commanded regaining my composure. “Please, ple
I headed to the exit, I heard it charge. It moved so silently that I wouldn’t have heard it if it wasn’t for my Alpha hearing. I spun around shifting before colliding with the body of the intruder. He was heavy, I stumbled back as his form slammed into me. Snarls and teeth-gnashing filled the air. I would not let this creature win. I bit down hard on his leg causing him to howl in pain. He jumped back a bit before charging me again. This time, I leaped into the air as he tried to slam into my body. I landed on his back. Sinking my teeth into the back of his neck, he roared as he tried to shake me off. He fell as he tried to grab me with his huge jaws again. When he hit the ground, I sank my teeth into his back, a large crack echoed through the air as his spine snapped severing his spinal cord. He yelped knowing he was going to die. Not wasting a moment, I grabbed his throat with my teeth. Shaking my head viciously, I tore his throat out. Spitting out the mix of blood and fur, I pante
Reiner POV Voicemail again. Was this Alpha purposely ignoring my phone calls? I slammed the phone down. I suppose I deserve this; I did ignore her, and Chase gave her that awful excuse. I picked up a stack of papers waiting for my signature. Oh well, I would try again. I had been signing papers for a few hours when my phone started ringing. Ah good, she was finally calling me back. “Hello Alpha Reiner speak,” I greeted everyone this way. I couldn’t hide my disappointment when a male voice responded. “Good afternoon, Alpha, my name is Greg Peters. I am the organizer putting together the Alpha summit this year. As you know the alpha summit will be taking place in the shadow pack territory this year. Due to recent events, I have been asked to extend an invitation to all those who do not usually attend. The alliances have decided that the Alpha Summit this year will be mandatory. Failure to attend will result in a termination of all agreements with alliances and a
Myla POVWhat the hell was that about? Did that jerk really just ask me to sleep with him? Grrr! Alphas are all the same! They think they will get any woman because they are alphas well, I’m an Alpha too! Just wait till the Alpha Summit, I will teach him to mess with me. I could feel my wolf scratching at the surface. Calm down I told myself. He isn’t worth the trouble. I could still feel the anger rolling off me in waves. I stood up heading towards the door. The best way to let off some steam? Workout. A few hours later, I felt somewhat better. I wiped the sweat off my face as I headed up the stairs to my suite. As I entered the main lobby, I heard the sound of laughter. I listened to find the source. It was coming from the dining hall. Quietly I made my way to the door. I peered around the corner to see Cobalt and Layla laughing like old friends on the stage. Cobalt was reciting some bad Shakespeare and Layla was laughing hysterically. They didn’t notice me
Reiner’s POV Driving through the pack lands of the famed Alpha Myla showed me why she was so revered. Her territory was huge. Square miles, it was bigger than mine by about 10%. I watched as we passed beautiful farmlands and amazing forests with trees taller than any I had seen before. The tall guard sitting across from me was intimidating even to an Alpha like me. “I’m sorry, I didn’t catch your name,” I offered trying to at least be polite. “That’s because I didn’t tell you,” he grumbled not moving his gaze from my face. “Tough crowd,” Chase said from the seat next to me. He had insisted on coming along claiming he need to find “fresh hotties”. I wasn’t sure that was such a great idea. “We will be arriving in five minutes,” the driver announced. He was also a guard but, at least he was a bit less intimidating. As we drove down the cobblestone street, we passed groups of wolves training. Some were sparring, other
Myla’s POV I swear I had pulled out every outfit in my closet. Why was I so worried about how I looked? Did I really care if I impressed this guy? I heard my door open, and Jade enter. “In here,” I called out reaching for another dress, yanking it off the hanger. I tossed it into the pile behind me. “Oh, my,” Jade said echoing my feelings. “I know right? All these clothes yet I have nothing to wear.” I sighed as I looked at the pile of discarded clothes. “Myla, you are crazy. You look beautiful in anything. You could wear a paper bag and still look gorgeous,” Jade tried to comfort me. “You are truly the best friend anyone could ever ask for,” I reached over and pulled her into a hug. I suddenly knew what I would wear. Fifteen minutes later, I was heading down to meet the Alpha. I froze at the top of the stairs. What is that smell? I couldn’t resist the mint chocolate scent streaming from the dining hall. Mint choc
Reiner's POV When she entered the hall, I instantly knew she was mine. She stood there looking around for the person she knew was her mate. As our eyes met, it all made sense, the feelings of jealousy when the driver said she was hot, the pull I felt towards her, and the inability to forget the sound of her voice which always left me wanting to call her back. She was stunning. Her long black hair flowed loosely around her face. Her ivory skin was highlighted by the contrast of her jet-black hair. Her petite frame with her perfect hips. Her plump lips seemed to beg me to kiss them. Her high cheekbones, and her eyes, I don’t think I had ever seen eyes that green before. She was of average height and her legs were sleek and muscular. I wondered how many wolves had dreamed about her being their mate. She was dressed in tight shorts and a cute little tank top. I could see the outline of her abs under her shirt. This wolf is not just smart and an extraordinary Alpha, she was also a stunning
Myla's POVTo think, the Alpha I didn’t want to meet, is my mate. The Moon Goddess certainly has a funny way of doing things. I sat with him watching the others dance. This had been one of the best nights I could remember. Cobalt had come to say hello to Alpha Reiner. He introduced Layla who was a little nervous as she had never been part of a pack before. She had been born to rogue parents who had been killed during a structure fire. Her mom had thrown her to a firefighter before she was overcome by smoke. They didn’t know what to do with her. The firefighter wanted to raise her but, his mate said no. She had been placed in the orphanage. Strangely enough, Cobalt’s parents had passed the same way. I was feeling relaxed, having my mate by my side seemed to give me a feeling of peace. I never wanted this night to end. The music stopped, and I heard Barrett’s voice float through the silence. “I would like to have our very own Alpha Myla c
The body was a twisted mess. If I didn't know it was a werewolf, I would think someone had slaughtered something. My stomach lurched as I did all I could to keep from being sick. "Alpha, you should go, I will inform you as soon as I find anything." Doc watched me hoping he would not have a mess to clean up from me. "Doc, Myla knows we have a body but I would like to spare her the details. I would appreciate it if we could keep her out of here." I knew Doc would agree but I felt I should confirm we were on the same page. I made my way out of the morgue, I needed to be away from the smell of death. When I stepped out into the afternoon sun, the fresh air calmed me. I knew I needed to consider all possibilities. I walked along the road back to the packhouse. I wanted to be with my mate and our daughter. I needed to know they were safe. Seeing the ferocity of the attack left me with an urge to hunt down those responsible. When I got closer to the packhouse, I heard laughter coming fro
Reiner's POVI watched her look around for a minute. “Daddy, I have the pan and the sauce, what do I do now?”“Well, you let me help,” I said rolling up my sleeves. My favorite meal was stuffed shells. My mother had taught me to make them. I thought about how happy she would be if she knew I was teaching my daughter the secret recipe she had taught me all those years ago. I showed Evie the steps to make it. A while later, we pulled the food out of the oven. It smelled divine. Evie set the table. I got out the salad we had made earlier and the cheesy garlic bread. The whole place smelled like a gourmet Italian restaurant. I was about to send Evie to get Myla when she came in.“That smells divine! I am so hungry; I think I could eat the whole tray!” she exclaimed.Evie giggled. “Mommy, you would explode!” Myla laughed with her. The sound of their laughter made my heart skip a beat. The only thing that would complete this moment would be holding my son. After we ate dinner, we promised
Reiner’s POVAs I looked at the photos with Myla, I could feel the anger bubbling up. They had hurt her, tortured her, and kept her chained to a wall as they took photos of her! What kind of sick perverts are these psychos? The Alpha Summit had been difficult, to say the least. Then, some sicko sends her these. I swear when I find them, I am going to torture them before I kill them. “Myla, why do you call them the others?” “I call them the others because that’s what they called themselves.”I wonder why they would call themselves the others. “I am going to have my tech guys trace the email to figure out where it came from. Hopefully, it will provide some clues.” We landed about an hour later. Myla was quiet the rest of the flight. I assumed she was exhausted. As we left the jet, Barrett hopped out of the waiting car holding Evie. “Myla, Reiner, welcome home!” He smiled happily. “We have missed you!”Myla lit up as her eyes landed on our
Myla's POV Reiner rubbed my back as Beverly continued to hug me. After another minute, she looked at me. “You are amazing Myla. Don’t you ever forget it. If you ever need me, please contact me, ask me to come to you, come to me, I will not let Dominic keep me from you like he kept me from your mother. I owe her that.” “I will,” I promised. We talked about other things for another couple of hours. I was sad when Beverly left. Reiner sat next to me. “Are you ok Babe? I know it isn’t easy to talk about any of that.” “I’m ok. I am tired though.” It had been a long day. I needed a nap. I stretched and then stood up to go lie down. Sam and Wade were looking at me with some foreign expression. When I was in my room, Reiner came in with a glass of water. He set it on the table next to me. “Hey, what’s with them?” I was confused by their look. He smiled proudly. “They have always respected you, but now that they know what you have been through, they not only respect you as their Alpha, b
Myla's POV I sat happily waiting for the meeting to start. My little baby bump was getting lots of attention from the Lunas. I could only imagine what the other Alphas were thinking. Luna Beverly, Alpha Dominic’s mate asked if she could feel the baby. She had been waiting for grand pups, but her son and her daughter had both decided to wait. We chatted as her mate made his opening speech. “You are absolutely precious dear. I wish I had been brave enough to wear comfortable things when I was pregnant. Instead, I was taught to dress appropriately regardless of how I felt. Don’t ever let someone change you.” She smiled sadly. “Silence please,” Alpha Dominic boomed through the speakers. “We have with us, the lead investigator who has been combing through evidence trying to find the one responsible for all of the attacks. A frail-looking older gentleman stepped on stage. He stood next to Alpha Dominic looking around as if hoping he would notice something. “Ladies and gentlemen, please
Myla’s POV The doors closed and I was alone. I didn’t care too much because I can take care of myself. As the elevator reached the second floor, Alpha Gill stepped on. I didn’t say anything. He pushed the button for three. I tried to remember what floor he had got out on last night. He stood between me and the control panel. I watched in horror as he pushed the emergency stop. The alarm went off. He turned to face me as he spoke. “You should have listened Myla. I would have been a good mate. Our pack would have been unstoppable if you had listened to me.” He growled. I could see his canines sinking from his gums as fur sprouted on his knuckles. “Let me out,” I growled my own canines appearing. I couldn’t shift as it is too dangerous for the baby, but maybe I could intimidate him. “No, you ruined my plans to control the most powerful pack there is.” His eyes turned black as more fur sprang out. “Let me out now!” I tried my Alpha command on him. He laughed. “Your pitiful Alpha com
Reiner's POVI looked through the council records to find a list of allies. The only way the packs would agree to a council is with total transparency. All council records were accessible by all the Alphas. The members of the council could only serve for 2 consecutive years. If no one ran for a seat that was becoming vacant, it would simply sit empty. The Alpha Summit was put in place for the Alphas of all the packs to be able to discuss issues with land or borders, problems between packs, attacks, or threats. I looked at the clock. It was nearly 6. The banquet starts at seven. I stretched, pushing back in the chair, I stood up to wake up Myla. I opened the door to find she was awake.“Hey, would you grab my dress from the closet?”She sounded tired. I couldn’t blame her. She had been through a lot recently. I went to the closet to get it. “Which one is for tonight?”“The black one, with the long sleeves.”I carefully moved her clothes around. “What shoes do you want?” I might as wel
Reiner’s POV I watched Evie excitedly jumping around with all her new toys. I may have gone a bit overboard, but Evie deserves to be spoiled. She is the daughter of two powerful Alphas. We lost a lot of time with her. I know buying stuff won’t change it but now that I know about her, I won’t ever leave her. If I want to spoil her, I will.Myla stood watching her. I could feel her happiness through the bond. I never knew I could love someone as much as I loved the three of them. I know my son isn’t here yet, but I love him already.Later that night, lying in bed with Myla, I asked what names she liked for a boy.She rolled over to face me. “I was thinking Reiner Jr.” she smiled.“No. The world can only handle one of me. I was thinking about naming him after Barrett’s father. After all, he played a huge part in your life.”“I am honored you want to name him after him. He did a lot for me. I think I am the alpha I am today because of him.” She looked as though she was rememb
Myla’s POV I couldn’t understand, why didn’t Doc and Reiner just tell me the truth? I wasn’t going to break. I am a different person than the scared little girl who stopped talking for a year. When Reiner explained he had been tricked too. I wanted to find those responsible and rip out their throats. It hit me like a ton of bricks. The little girl I had grown to love is mine, she is my flesh and blood, born from something stolen from me. I would never blame Evie. She is the most innocent one in all of this. I suddenly needed to hold her, to tell her who I really am. She was chasing birds. I took off running to her. I scooped her up and held her to me. I could feel her heartbeat against my chest. My little girl. The little girl stolen from me. I was tortured for her to live. At that moment, I knew it didn’t matter. She is mine. “I love you my little Evie.” She looked at me funny. “I know, I love you too mommy.” She hugged me tightly. Reiner caught up to us, wrapping himse
