Calypso felt herself being shaken and her sapphire eyes opened to be met by hazel eyes that had her heart fluttering. For a split second, they held worry and an emotion she could only pinpoint as love, before they were clouded by blankness. She frowned when the person moved back, only to reveal a guy who made her feel funny.
He was frowning at her. “What the hell was that?”
“I take it you’re referring to the nightmares I seem to be getting lately. Just so you know, you’re about the tenth person to tell me about them, and for the record, I don’t remember this, neither do I know what the nightmare was about,” she amazed herself by explaining. Even the guy in the room looked stunned.
“You have quite the mouth on you,” he admitted.
“I also don’t know who you are, or where I am,” she noted. His voice was familiar, but she couldn’t pinpoint from where.
“My name is Tyson,&
Tyson felt himself get angrier by the second. “How old are you?”“Seventeen,” Calypso maintained her cool. She couldn’t find it in herself to fear him.“How the fuck haven’t you shifted at seventeen?” Tyson asked angrily.“I don’t know, and it’s none of your business!” Calypso snapped, not liking his behaviour. The room went silent as Beck and Isla froze at the door. The two of them, together with Cain, watched on in fear as Tyson’s eyes gradually turned black in Calypso’s direction. What made them even more anxious was the fact that Calypso didn’t look the least bit afraid as she stared their Alpha down.Tyson’s eyes were black as night. “You dare to disrespect me?”“No! How dare you try and invade my privacy, and then have the audacity to feel offended when I stand up for myself!” Calypso shot back. By now Cain, Beck, and
When they got outside, Calypso wasn’t sure what to expect, but she was ok with what she saw. The place wasn’t all that lavish, and the people looked nice enough as they walked to the hospital. The walk was short and filled with small chatter. Soon they reached the hospital and entered, going straight to the pack doctor’s office.“Dr Holt,” Beck said, getting the man’s attention. He looked to be in his mid-forties.“Beck! Is this the girl?” Dr Holt questioned when his eyes landed on Calypso.“Yep! Dr Holt, meet Calypso Henriques. Cally, meet Dr Nicholas Holt, our pack doctor,” Beck introduced.“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” Calypso said politely.“No my dear, it’s an honour to meet you. Please, have a seat and tell me what you’d like me to do,” Dr Holt directed to his couches.“Well Dr Holt, as you can see, she’s deathly skinny, b
They made their way down the street to the line of restaurants there and they took Calypso to a fast food restaurant that sells deep fried food because according to Isyss, ‘it doesn’t get any greasier than that’, and she was right. By the time they were done eating, not only was Calypso full, but she could feel the food working its magic, as weird as it felt. Cain had even gotten her the ice-cream he promised.“The people I’m meeting all just want to fatten me up,” she commented, thinking about her vampire family.“With good reason!” Cain argued.“I know, I know,” she waved off before they were joined by a guy with blonde hair and hazel eyes.“Hey guys!” he greeted as he sat down.“Hey!” they replied.“Hey love,” Isyss beamed. Calypso pieced the puzzle together.“Ronny, this is our new friend Calypso. Cally, this is Isyss’ mate
Ivy was woken up by a shrill scream that had her clutching her ears. When she realized the source of the scream, she linked Cain who came running into the room while she held down a thrashing Calypso. Calypso was speaking a language they both didn’t know. She was shouting and screaming and they picked up the name Killian in the middle of her shouting. “Cals! Cals wake up,” Cain said calmly into her ear. Calypso seemed to calm down before her eyes shot open. “Killian,” she whispered as she sat up. “Who’s Killian?” Ivy asked her. “Killian!” Calypso said more desperately. “Cals, who’s Killian?” Cain asked when Calypso suddenly clutched her chest. She felt like her whole body was firing up as she held onto her chest. Suddenly, the pain disappeared as her whole body numbed. She frowned to herself, not knowing what that had been about, when the pain shot through her again, but this time she was saying a different name altogether. “Ty
Calypso showered and brushed her teeth before getting dressed in another pair of jeans and another t-shirt. She wasn’t one for dressing up or caring about her appearance much. She dried her hair and left it to be in all its curly glory.Cain and Ivy returned to fetch her and they were both dressed. She left the room and the pair followed her out. They arrived in the kitchen and a couple of the pack members were already there, but none that Calypso had already met, so she kept to herself while Cain and Ivy got around to making her breakfast.“Good morning beautiful people!” a short girl with blonde hair and gray eyes entered the kitchen.“Morning Cass,” a few people replied, Ivy and Cain included.“And who is this pretty lady?” Cassidy asked, sitting next to Calypso.“That would be our lovely new friend Calypso. Cally, that’s Cassidy,” Ivy introduced.“It’s nice to finall
Calypso once again felt something rousing within her at the sight of the Alpha. He was in low hanging basketball shorts and he was glistening with water from his fresh shower and he had a towel in his hands as he wiped his hair. She didn’t even realize that her eyes were following the droplets of water. Tyson smirked as he noticed this, and Cain was wise enough to dismiss himself, leaving the two there, as much as he didn’t want to.“You done?” Tyson taunted. Calypso flushed.“So, you have a full floor to yourself?” she diverted the subject.“Yeah! I want my privacy,” he replied, stepping towards her.For every step he took forward, she took one back, until she reached the stairs. She was about to fall but he caught her by her waist and pulled her flush against him. Both their hearts were beating erratically as they looked into each other’s eyes. For once, Tyson didn’t fight his wol
They agreed with the plan and moved off to the car to dump the bags, before moving to the food court which was buzzing with people since it was a Saturday. A whole lot of people recognized the group of girls, but not their new friend, especially since she and Cassidy were wrapped up against each other. The girls ignored the attention as they moved off to buy lunch. Once again, Isyss had them buying the greasiest food.“Remind me why we just bought greasy food again?” Ilea asked since she and Cassidy weren’t present at the last lunch.“We figured that the fastest way to get Cally to gain weight is to feed her fatty foods, and then Cain can then work with her from that point,” Ivy explained.“That makes no sense. It’s actually unhealthy, but go on,” Cassidy said.Just as they were getting comfortable, a group of seven guys approached them. “Hey ladies.”The girls, save for Calypso, knew who
The park was buzzing with youthful teens as the picnic was in full swing. It was only three in the afternoon, and the music was blaring from the speakers as everyone mingled, ate, and danced.Meanwhile, at the pack house, the girls were trying to convince Calypso to put on shorts, but she was refusing. “Come on Cally! It’s not like you’re not going to look good.”Calypso shook her head. “If you think my arms are skinny, then you don’t want to see my legs!”Isyss rolled her eyes. “They can’t be THAT bad.”“Look guys, we all know that I’m skinny, and that’s why I haven’t worn any short things for as long as I can remember. Can I please just go in sweat pants?” Calypso pleaded. They could hear the insecurity in her voice.“Alright fine! But you have to make the look work,” Ilea warned.“In fact, I’ll dress you!” Cassidy
That was the last straw and Phillip commanded the wolves to attack. The pack members watched on in amazement from their hiding places as the Werewolf Prince and Princess took on the rogues by themselves.“Are we even needed here?” Harlan joked lowly, causing silent laughter amongst everyone. It wasn’t long before the rogues were down to half. As Killian had suspected, Phillip had a backup plan as more rogues showed up. Harlan’s question was answered when it started to look like there were too many for the royal siblings to face. And so, the pack came out of hiding to join the fight.Phillip was acting on intel he’d received from his spies and The Assembly of Warriors, but as he watched the fight before him, he realized that he’d been deceived. The intel he’d received led him to believe that this was a fight he could win.And he finally understood then why the crown was never meant to be his. He’d lived in Julio’s shadow for as long as he could remember, and he knew what the people thou
Killian turned to Nathan. “Are you ready to take him on and take the crown?”Nathan nodded. “As I’ll ever be.”Killian turned back to Hunter. “Any sighting of Jeremiah?”Hunter linked Wayne who was at the border before responding. “According to Wayne, he doesn’t seem to be with the group.”“So, how are we going about this?” Cassidy asked.“Well, one can only assume Phillip rallied up some rogues. If that’s the case, we take them out. If, by some off chance, he’s rallied the royal pack, then we only knock them out. They would be under his command, and as King, I’d be able to break it,” Nathan took charge.“Then there’s no need to involve the Lycans. I’d like for them to remain a secret for as long as we can keep the secret. The werewolves will take this fight. You’ll relay the instructions to them,” Killian told the Werewolf Prince.“We’ll also lay back and watch,” Zen added on behalf of the vampires.Killian linked the pack, asking the werewolves to meet him outside. Thanks to Cain’s
Back at Calypso’s pack house, the weather was changing. The skies were unexpectedly darkening, something that thrilled Calypso for whatever reason. She headed to her room to change, before heading outside.Noticing her change in outfit, Cassidy was confused. “Cals, why are you in your training gear?”Calypso shrugged. “Haven’t trained in a while.”It had been almost a year.Cassidy made the realization too. “Huh, guess we can go for some rounds. I’ll be back.”Calypso decided to stretch while waiting for her sister. Word was getting around to the pack members as they gathered around to wacth. Cassidy joined her in stretching just as word got around to Nathan, Cain, and Zen.“Isn’t this an unfair fight?” Zen questioned.“They’re both fantastic fighters in their human forms. The fight becomes uneven if Cally shifts,” Cain corrected.Nathan was particularly excited to see his mate fight. He’d only seen her fight a handful of times, and never against an opponent as powerful as Calypso. No
Jordan sat in the dark, completely exhausted. His wolf had finally settled down, but he found himself feeling empty. Something didn’t feel right. He felt like he’d been played somehow, but couldn’t think of how he even came to that conclusion. He tried to think about why his wolf had lost control, and the beast had shut him out. His pack had gone into hiding, and his memories were filled with a woman he couldn’t recall the name of.He just knew that she meant the world to him.And yet he didn’t feel a mate pull to her.In fact, he felt the very opposite. He felt mateless, like there was still someone out there for him. Something about the notion unsettled him, and the harder he thought about why that was, the more his headache worsened. What he didn’t know was that Amaya had managed to manipulate his memories of Samantha, with help from the Moon Goddess. With Samantha no longer being his mate, they felt that he didn’t need to remember her.Jeremiah arrived at the Twilight Moon Pack an
Elsewhere, the Grey family had just arrived at the area where Amaya’s pack used to be. The older woman felt her heart constrict at the loss she experienced when she was last here. Edward reached out to hold her hand, squeezing it.“How come there’s nothing here?” Samantha asked as they stared out at the nothingness.Amaya sighed. “That’s probably my fault. I lost everyone important to me that day, except you three, and out of anger, I lashed out and cursed the land. I don’t doubt that people tried over the years to occupy the land, but my spell would’ve eventually driven them away.”Killian touched his mother’s shoulder out of comfort. “Did you guys ever find out who attacked the pack?”Edward shook his head. “We’ve had our theories over the years, but no concrete evidence ever led us down a certain path.”“What about Hans’ descendants?” Kill
They arrived to an empty pack house, unaware that everyone had been instructed to steer clear. They searched the house, finding it strange that the massive pack had disappeared. It wasn’t until they got outside that they were truly mystified.“Where did everyone go?” Vera asked her mate.He was about to respond when his sense caught the high-speed arrow headed their way. He managed to dodge it and get Vera behind him at the same time. There were many more arrows shot their way, and he realized they were under attack.“Go back inside,” he told Vera.He didn’t question why she willingly complied as he was focused on defending his sister’s home. “Whoever you are, show your face.”Instead of a face, a dagger was flung his way, and soon the daggers replaced the arrows. He dodged them all with ease before a group of vampires he’d never before encountered came out of the woods.“Is t
He had locked himself away in the war room, and Vera sighed to herself when she realized that he hadn’t paid her any attention in a while. She couldn’t complain though – not when she knew that he was holding things in.A lot had happened since Calypso had come back into his life, and things were already shaky even before she did. It had only been a couple of months since they’d gotten married, and with the vampire kingdom struggling with unrest, it was almost a reflection of their relationship. She loved Zen with her entire being, that much she’d never contest, but she found herself curious about what life would’ve looked like had she been mated with a normal vampire. Things with Zen had been passionate from the moment they met, but he’d always carried a burden with him.A burden she finally had unravelled before her. There was a lot happening around them, but she was grateful for it all – grateful
While rooms were being prepared for them, Killian led his parents to his office, while Samantha grabbed Calypso’s hand, leading them outside. Calypso understood that Samantha needed someone to talk to, and in that moment she was that person.“I’m so confused,” Samantha started off.“I can just imagine,” Calypso commented.“It makes sense, but at the same time it doesn’t you know? I mean, what the hell is a Lycan? There’s so much going on and I’m just so lost,” Samantha panicked.“The first thing you’re going to do is breathe, and then you’re going to listen to me ok?” Calypso told her.She nodded before Calypso fully let her in on everything. Now that it was clear which side Samantha was on, Calypso knew that she would need to know everything, especially with the looming danger everywhere.Samantha sat, listening intently. Calypso filled her in on the g
Jeremiah felt like his life stood still. For the first time since his father has said it, it settled on him that his son was gone, but what his mate was saying terrified him even more. He knew many people with blue eyes, but none like Calypso and his son.“The girl had blue eyes like Xavier’s?” he questioned.“She told me what you did to her. They told me that they had you held hostage, and when I tried to protect Xavier, her mate knocked me out. When I woke up, Xavier was gone,” she explained.Jeremiah’s head was spinning as he tried to make sense of what she was saying. According to her, Calypso and Killian had come to fetch Xavier, and they did so while they had him hostage, and yet all he could remember was coming to the castle straight from the wedding.Nothing made sense to him. However, how else would his mate have known about Calypso if she wasn’t telling the truth?“Somebody i
