*FLASHBACK*
Eight centuries ago, there were twin brothers by the names of Hans and Khan, who were the sons of a powerful Alpha. Their pack had the largest number of people, boasting a number of forty thousand werewolves.
Their father was ruthless, and they grew up being each other’s strength. When they turned sixteen and shifted, they learnt that only one of them could be Alpha, which meant that they had to fight for the position.
The fateful day came, and the pack gathered in numbers. Each brother had their own supporters, but everyone knew that only one of them would be their Alpha. The fight was long and brutal, until there was finally a victor.
Hans had won.
Khan was furious at the result, and although he loved his brother, he couldn’t stay there. Hans respected his brother’s decision to leave, but was angry to find out that more than half of the pack wanted to follow h
Silence settled in the room as they all put the pieces together in their heads. They especially paid attention to Calypso, while her eyes travelled from Killian, to her son. She knew exactly what Killian was saying, as hard as it was for her to believe.“Their spirits...” she trailed off.“Have found their new hosts,” Killian finished off. She turned back to him.“That’s how he’s your son,” she whispered in realization. He nodded.“Wait what? Aiden is Channing’s son!” Cassidy said defensively.“By blood he is, but he is a Lycan, and Killian’s son. He binds Channing, Killian, and Spunky. The three of them are his parents,” Zen put two and two together. Killian nodded.“How many?” Calypso asked Killian. While everyone else didn’t know what she was asking, he knew. “Five thousand Lycans and two thousand werewolves.”Sh
Her fingers strayed to her lips and she let her thoughts wander off, thinking about whether or not Killian was right. Was she ready to move on from Channing? Was she ready to accept her fate? To accept her son’s fate? For the first time in days, she let herself just think. She hadn’t thought of everything happening around her, and she definitely hadn’t truly thought about what the future had in store for her. While she knew that being a golden wolf was a big deal, she’d never really thought about what it meant, and now that she’d learnt the truth about her destiny, she wasn’t sure that she was ready to accept it all.But she wasn’t the only one affected. While she wanted to think about her future, she also had to think about Aiden and Killian. Aiden’s life had changed the moment he shifted. Killian on the other hand, had been bestowed with a great responsibility. And they both needed her.
“This isn’t information!” King Philip Lancaster snapped.“Your Majesty, this is all that we were able to find out,” Kevlar replied respectfully.Kevlar, Dumont, and Presley had left the Dark Moon Pack and left for the Werewolf Royal Castle to report back their findings. They had changed their minds about Calypso, even though they hadn’t told her that. They respected her more than she knew. They’d gone to the King to report that there was nothing off about the Dark Moon Pack as the King had suspected. They knew that they were putting their lives in danger by lying to him, but they couldn’t bring themselves to share Calypso’s story, especially since she hadn’t exactly shared it with a lot of people as it was.“And what of my son?” King Lancaster asked.“We haven’t heard of his whereabouts,” Presley replied.King Lancaster frowned. “Y
Hunter paced in his office. His wolf was restless, and it had been for two years, but he didn’t know what to do. He was just as anxious, and he knew that something needed to be done before the entire pack went insane.“Hunt! We found her!” Wayne barged into his office. He scowled. “What?”“Calypso! We found her!” his Beta told him happily.“You’re kidding!” Hunter said wide-eyed.“I kid you not! The search is finally over!” Wayne chuckled.Overwhelming happiness filled Hunter, and for the first time in two years, he felt relief. The whole pack had felt the shift two years ago, and although they didn’t know what the cause was for it, they knew the source. They’d been in hiding for eleven years, despite their enormous size. With the death of their Alpha, they were left with no other choice. They went from being the most powerful pack on the continent, to
Odus Blaze was known as a man who didn’t have any patience, and it was definitely something he proved every day. With the growing tension in his kingdom, he could feel the restlessness within the castle. Those closest to him were awaiting his next move.“Idris! Get me Frazier!” he barked out. His terrified squire reacted immediately.“What do you wish to ask him?” Loraine, his wife, asked him.“That is of no concern to you,” he replied.“I am your wife Odus! I am your Queen!” Loraine snapped.“Make no mistake about this Loraine! You are my wife, but you are not my Queen,” he told her. The coldness in his tone sent a chill down his spine.“She’s been missing for twelve years now Odus! What are you hoping for exactly?” Loraine dared to ask. She was shocked when she was struck.“DO NOT SPEAK OF MY MATE! YOU HAVE NO RIGHT!” Odus shouted. The ro
Cassidy gasped. It’s like she was looking at the eyes of a completely different person, yet it was the same person. She couldn’t explain the feeling to herself, and she sure as hell knew she wouldn’t be able to explain it to anyone else.“Austin?” Calypso, Cain, Zen, and Roxanna asked in confusion. Killian wasn’t paying attention to them, but instead at the rising Prince.“Cass is my mate? How?” Nathan asked when he was fully standing.“Your brother’s spirit allowed you to finally recognize her as your mate,” Killian replied.“Brother?” everyone asked in confusion.“Nathan was born a twin, but his brother was murdered as a baby. Nathan however, wasn’t as easy to kill. No-one really knows why that was. Anyway, when the Higher Powers caught word of the injustice of Austin’s death, they kept his spirit preserved and left it with the Lycans.
Cassidy narrowed her eyes at him. “You’ve been alive this whole time and you didn’t even say anything.”Killian shrugged. “Because it wasn’t the right time.”“You know you made her stress for two years!” Cassidy huffed.“Really? I thought she was busy mourning Channing,” Killian replied. Calypso smacked him on the chest.“You think I wasn’t worried about you at all this entire time?” she questioned.“I didn’t mean it in that way. I just meant that I thought your grief for him would make you forget about me,” Killian defended.“Trust us! She NEVER forgot about you,” Nathan informed. It was Calypso’s turn to blush.“I never forgot about her too. Everything I’ve done, I’ve always done for her, or because of her. She’s been my everything from the moment I lay eyes on her,” Killian smiled.
“You suck at taking hints!” Killian said as he threw Calypso onto the bed. They were in another one of the free rooms.“And apparently you don’t know how to handle a woman,” she scowled as she sat up.“What woman?” he smirked. She whacked him with the pillow.“What hint were you referring to by the way?” she asked.“Leaving the new mates alone,” he replied, laying down so that his head was resting on her lap.“Oh, my bad,” she blushed as her hand trailed to his hair. When he purred, she giggled.“Really? This?” she laughed. He shrugged, unashamed of it. “It feels so gooood.”“I couldn’t tell,” she teased.“Whatever! You love me and my weirdness!” he said before making himself a lot more comfortable. That caused his t-shirt to ride up, revealing his tattoo.“I can’t believe
That was the last straw and Phillip commanded the wolves to attack. The pack members watched on in amazement from their hiding places as the Werewolf Prince and Princess took on the rogues by themselves.“Are we even needed here?” Harlan joked lowly, causing silent laughter amongst everyone. It wasn’t long before the rogues were down to half. As Killian had suspected, Phillip had a backup plan as more rogues showed up. Harlan’s question was answered when it started to look like there were too many for the royal siblings to face. And so, the pack came out of hiding to join the fight.Phillip was acting on intel he’d received from his spies and The Assembly of Warriors, but as he watched the fight before him, he realized that he’d been deceived. The intel he’d received led him to believe that this was a fight he could win.And he finally understood then why the crown was never meant to be his. He’d lived in Julio’s shadow for as long as he could remember, and he knew what the people thou
Killian turned to Nathan. “Are you ready to take him on and take the crown?”Nathan nodded. “As I’ll ever be.”Killian turned back to Hunter. “Any sighting of Jeremiah?”Hunter linked Wayne who was at the border before responding. “According to Wayne, he doesn’t seem to be with the group.”“So, how are we going about this?” Cassidy asked.“Well, one can only assume Phillip rallied up some rogues. If that’s the case, we take them out. If, by some off chance, he’s rallied the royal pack, then we only knock them out. They would be under his command, and as King, I’d be able to break it,” Nathan took charge.“Then there’s no need to involve the Lycans. I’d like for them to remain a secret for as long as we can keep the secret. The werewolves will take this fight. You’ll relay the instructions to them,” Killian told the Werewolf Prince.“We’ll also lay back and watch,” Zen added on behalf of the vampires.Killian linked the pack, asking the werewolves to meet him outside. Thanks to Cain’s
Back at Calypso’s pack house, the weather was changing. The skies were unexpectedly darkening, something that thrilled Calypso for whatever reason. She headed to her room to change, before heading outside.Noticing her change in outfit, Cassidy was confused. “Cals, why are you in your training gear?”Calypso shrugged. “Haven’t trained in a while.”It had been almost a year.Cassidy made the realization too. “Huh, guess we can go for some rounds. I’ll be back.”Calypso decided to stretch while waiting for her sister. Word was getting around to the pack members as they gathered around to wacth. Cassidy joined her in stretching just as word got around to Nathan, Cain, and Zen.“Isn’t this an unfair fight?” Zen questioned.“They’re both fantastic fighters in their human forms. The fight becomes uneven if Cally shifts,” Cain corrected.Nathan was particularly excited to see his mate fight. He’d only seen her fight a handful of times, and never against an opponent as powerful as Calypso. No
Jordan sat in the dark, completely exhausted. His wolf had finally settled down, but he found himself feeling empty. Something didn’t feel right. He felt like he’d been played somehow, but couldn’t think of how he even came to that conclusion. He tried to think about why his wolf had lost control, and the beast had shut him out. His pack had gone into hiding, and his memories were filled with a woman he couldn’t recall the name of.He just knew that she meant the world to him.And yet he didn’t feel a mate pull to her.In fact, he felt the very opposite. He felt mateless, like there was still someone out there for him. Something about the notion unsettled him, and the harder he thought about why that was, the more his headache worsened. What he didn’t know was that Amaya had managed to manipulate his memories of Samantha, with help from the Moon Goddess. With Samantha no longer being his mate, they felt that he didn’t need to remember her.Jeremiah arrived at the Twilight Moon Pack an
Elsewhere, the Grey family had just arrived at the area where Amaya’s pack used to be. The older woman felt her heart constrict at the loss she experienced when she was last here. Edward reached out to hold her hand, squeezing it.“How come there’s nothing here?” Samantha asked as they stared out at the nothingness.Amaya sighed. “That’s probably my fault. I lost everyone important to me that day, except you three, and out of anger, I lashed out and cursed the land. I don’t doubt that people tried over the years to occupy the land, but my spell would’ve eventually driven them away.”Killian touched his mother’s shoulder out of comfort. “Did you guys ever find out who attacked the pack?”Edward shook his head. “We’ve had our theories over the years, but no concrete evidence ever led us down a certain path.”“What about Hans’ descendants?” Kill
They arrived to an empty pack house, unaware that everyone had been instructed to steer clear. They searched the house, finding it strange that the massive pack had disappeared. It wasn’t until they got outside that they were truly mystified.“Where did everyone go?” Vera asked her mate.He was about to respond when his sense caught the high-speed arrow headed their way. He managed to dodge it and get Vera behind him at the same time. There were many more arrows shot their way, and he realized they were under attack.“Go back inside,” he told Vera.He didn’t question why she willingly complied as he was focused on defending his sister’s home. “Whoever you are, show your face.”Instead of a face, a dagger was flung his way, and soon the daggers replaced the arrows. He dodged them all with ease before a group of vampires he’d never before encountered came out of the woods.“Is t
He had locked himself away in the war room, and Vera sighed to herself when she realized that he hadn’t paid her any attention in a while. She couldn’t complain though – not when she knew that he was holding things in.A lot had happened since Calypso had come back into his life, and things were already shaky even before she did. It had only been a couple of months since they’d gotten married, and with the vampire kingdom struggling with unrest, it was almost a reflection of their relationship. She loved Zen with her entire being, that much she’d never contest, but she found herself curious about what life would’ve looked like had she been mated with a normal vampire. Things with Zen had been passionate from the moment they met, but he’d always carried a burden with him.A burden she finally had unravelled before her. There was a lot happening around them, but she was grateful for it all – grateful
While rooms were being prepared for them, Killian led his parents to his office, while Samantha grabbed Calypso’s hand, leading them outside. Calypso understood that Samantha needed someone to talk to, and in that moment she was that person.“I’m so confused,” Samantha started off.“I can just imagine,” Calypso commented.“It makes sense, but at the same time it doesn’t you know? I mean, what the hell is a Lycan? There’s so much going on and I’m just so lost,” Samantha panicked.“The first thing you’re going to do is breathe, and then you’re going to listen to me ok?” Calypso told her.She nodded before Calypso fully let her in on everything. Now that it was clear which side Samantha was on, Calypso knew that she would need to know everything, especially with the looming danger everywhere.Samantha sat, listening intently. Calypso filled her in on the g
Jeremiah felt like his life stood still. For the first time since his father has said it, it settled on him that his son was gone, but what his mate was saying terrified him even more. He knew many people with blue eyes, but none like Calypso and his son.“The girl had blue eyes like Xavier’s?” he questioned.“She told me what you did to her. They told me that they had you held hostage, and when I tried to protect Xavier, her mate knocked me out. When I woke up, Xavier was gone,” she explained.Jeremiah’s head was spinning as he tried to make sense of what she was saying. According to her, Calypso and Killian had come to fetch Xavier, and they did so while they had him hostage, and yet all he could remember was coming to the castle straight from the wedding.Nothing made sense to him. However, how else would his mate have known about Calypso if she wasn’t telling the truth?“Somebody i
