Winston turned on the flashlight on his phone and saw Millie snuggling in his arms.

"Millie?" he called to her, but she didn't respond.

His back pressed against the seat as the couch was too cramped for them. When Millie shifted, he immediately reached out and pulled her closer for fear that she might fall off.

Was she sleepwalking?

The air of the morning after was fresh and crisp after the stormy night. The nurse entered the room to run a blood test and found the couple asleep on the couch.

She stole another glance at them and tiptoed out to check on other patients, not wanting to disturb them.

When the door clicked shut, Millie frowned and slowly opened her eyes. Winston's handsome face loomed in front of her, causing her to jump in shock and nearly roll off the couch.

Suddenly, he tightened his grip on her waist and pulled her into his arms. His eyes fluttered open.

"What time is it now?" His voice was thick with grogginess.

Millie was taken aback when she found herself

Then, he continued putting on his tie as though the information didn't concern him.Millie had to admit that he was extremely handsome, even when he looked groggy in the morning.Lips pursed, he picked up his jacket. Then, she let out a silent sigh.He stopped at the door without warning and turned, eliciting a look of surprise from her. Smirking and arching a brow, he teased her, "Your waist feels good to the touch."She was rendered speechless. Damn it! The idea of snuggling in his arms while asleep overcame her with guilt. "You're useless!" she quietly chided herself. What was there to fear about a storm? How embarrassing!By the way, he mentioned something about her actions when she was drunk. What exactly happened? What slipped her mind? Why did she feel that he was

"Dr. Quinn, can I get discharged? I'm totally fine now!" Millie grabbed Lainey's sleeve and begged pitifully to be discharged when Lainey dropped by to visit.Lainey flipped through Millie's checkup record and said lazily, "It wasn't me. It was Dr. Lloyd who wouldn't release you. I don't have a say.""Ugh!" Millie slumped onto the bed and pouted at Lainey. "I want to get back to work. I'm very passionate about my job. Dr. Quinn, do you get me?"Lainey grinned at her. How would Millie love her job when she had to work overtime and get criticized whenever she accompanied Lainey to surgery?Lainey patted her on the head. "Fine. I'll talk to Dr. Lloyd."Millie immediately transformed into an obedient child. She asked, "Can I visit Cara?"Lainey nodded. "Of course."Millie quickly changed into her shoes and followed Lainey to Cara's room. As Cara remained in critical condition, she was warded in the ICU.Warren might have stabbed Cara in the abdomen, which wasn't supposed to be fata

When Millie turned toward the door, she looked visibly surprised by the visitor. She stood up and greeted him, "Oh, Simon."Simon looked gentlemanly in a black suit and gold-rimmed glasses. Holding a bouquet of lilies and some food, he entered the room and joked, "I'm here to visit the hero."She pouted. "I'm no hero. Someone had to protect me from getting stabbed.""Why? Are you disappointed because you didn't get stabbed?" He placed the food on the table and handed her the bouquet. "Here's some fresh lilies for you."She stared at the flowers and lamented silently, "Winston has never bought me flowers."Soon, she put on a smile and replied to Simon, "Thanks. I love it.""I brought food for you, but I'm not sure if they are to your taste." He pointed at the food on the bedside table before slumping onto the chair."I'm sure I'll like whatever you buy for me." She raised a brow and joked with him, looking happy."You're a sweet talker." Amused by her statement, he chuckled, eye

After making that remark, Simon deliberately glanced at Winston, who shot daggers at him expressionlessly.Smirking, Simon left the room with satisfaction. The moment the door closed, Winston clenched his fist.Millie asked, "Aren't you leaving?"He quickly turned to Millie and laughed wryly. "It hasn't been five minutes since I arrived with food for you, but you're already kicking me out."On the contrary, she offered to see Simon off. He thought, "She's certainly had a quick change of heart, hasn't she?"Checking the time, she grumbled, "But it's been more than five minutes…"He glared at her speechlessly.Pouting, she gave in. "Fine." Her attitude softened when she pointed at the chair. "Have a seat please, Mr. Greer."He plopped on the chair angrily and opened the food container. "Mom wants me to make sure you finish the food."When he noticed Simon's food, he criticized Simon's choices, "You can't take all these junk foods when you're hospitalized.""Those aren't junk fo

That was a question that Winston himself had no answer to. Millie pressed on. "Are you not going to get a divorce?"He sank into silence while her expression grew serious.Their breathing sounded loud in the silence of the room. She watched as his breathing grew uneven. Finally, he frantically shoved her away."You're delusional," he snapped. No way he'd fall in love with her. Millie fell into a daze when she heard his icy remark. She repeated his words to herself, "You're delusional."Winston had labeled her as delusional multiple times.Standing up, he tugged at his collar and gulped nervously. Dodging her gaze, he chose to stare out of the window instead. She studied his figure for a while. Finally, she broke into a smile. "I was just joking, but you seemed rattled by it.""Don't ever make those jokes again. They're not funny at all," Winston warned her with a frown when he turned.Millie teased him, pouting, "Mr. Greer, you're fierce." Her tone carried a hint of coyne

Millie casually looked up when the sound of the footsteps subsided. When she saw Winston, she set her snacks on the table and examined him."W-Winston, what's wrong?" Her response was delayed.Hazel turned and saw Winston frowning at Millie, his hair damp. Panic colored his eyes. Behind him stood Eli and two security guards from the hospital. "Why didn't you pick up my call?" He sounded accusatory right as he spoke. He was clearly incensed.Millie fumbled around her pocket. She had forgotten to take her phone when she was changing. The phone was currently in her room. She bashfully pointed downstairs. "It's… in my room."Winston marched forward, seemingly having a lot to say to her, but he hesitated. Did she leave her phone in her room? Oh, this silly woman had no idea how worried he was because she didn't pick up his calls in the middle of the night and was missing from her room!He turned his face sideways and let out a sigh of relief. Whatever. Everything was fine as long

Millie held her phone tightly. She had confirmed her guess—Winston panicked when she went missing at night. So, he must have caught feelings for her.He suddenly asked, "Will the hospital discharge you tomorrow?"She turned off the phone. At the same time, he was trying to blow dry his hair.Nodding, she replied, "Yeah.""Simon doesn't have to pick you up. I'll send you home." Then, he started to dry his hair.Curled up under the blanket, she muttered, "It's fine, Mr. Greer. I don't want to cause you trouble.""Hah." He chuckled and ran his hand over his hair before unplugging the hairdryer.Tossing it into the closet, he turned to her. "What you need to do is listen to me if you don't want to give me trouble."Millie was speechless at his stubbornness. She changed the topic. "My ID card will be ready the day after tomorrow.""Got it," he replied glumly and sat on the couch. She wistfully thought, "He's never been this nice to me in our three years of marriage. "Stop calling my name! It disgusts me!" Millie hissed at Winston. In a second, she switched from being warm to heartless. He grabbed onto his shirt. Did she just call him disgusting? Her impudent reaction was characteristic of her."Meet with your Joanna and marry her! I wish you all the best!" She grabbed the apples from the bedside table and hurled them at him. "Get lost right now!"Millie didn't want him around for even a second longer. Did he seriously think that Joanna's life was worth more than hers?He even had the guts to claim that Joanna was different from her. She thought, "Well, of course we're different—I came from a much more distinguished family than Joanna!"Winston became deflated after Millie lashed out at him. Seething, he muttered under his breath, "Unbelievable!"With that, he left without looking back. She held tightly to her blanket until she heard the door slam shut. Silence was restored in the room. At that moment, she felt as though something had sca

Layla said, "Even though it's soon New Year's and everyone is busy, try to be a bit more gentle! We're all elderly people here, so what's wrong with being patient?"Since you're in the service industry, you should maintain a proper attitude. If you can't even speak politely, then you shouldn't be in this line of work. I suggest you close up shop for good!"Winston squinted. That voice sounded very familiar. It seemed like Layla's voice. He quickly walked over and saw that Arthur was helping an elderly gentleman up while Layla was engaged in a debate with a young female shopkeeper."How I run my store is my business. If you want to buy something, go ahead. If not, just leave. I don't need you to tell me how to run my life!" The store owner glared at Layla while speaking with a very unfriendly tone, their voice sharp and cutting.Layla was exasperated and asked, "Don't you understand the saying that the customer is king?""What about the damn king? Layla said, "Look, you're really persistent, aren't you? I don't like you. Do you need me to spell it out for you?""Grandma, I want to pursue Mills. Since I want to be with Mills, I need to have everyone's approval. Right now, I'm trying hard to make everyone like me. It's part of the process that you might dislike me at first, but I can't just give up because of that. How else would I pursue Mills?" Winston said clearly. As expected of a businessman, his negotiation style was very serious and precise. Despite his gentle tone, there was still a strong sense of pressure in his eyes and demeanor.Layla moved her lips slightly. She didn't know how to get Winston to leave, so she shouted, "I don't care! Just stop bothering us here!"Winston furrowed his brows.Layla then asked Arthur to pull the cart himself.Ding! Winston's phone rang out.Arthur took the cart and quickly left with Layla.Winston stood still, watching the couple walk away, and couldn't help but sigh. The call on

"Grandpa, are you okay?" Winston finally had a moment to ask how he was doing.Arthur nodded. His demeanor toward Winston seemed a bit more gentle than before.Layla sighed. "There's too many people. Let's all slow down a bit.""Okay," Arthur said with a smile. "Don't worry, I'm fine.""You're getting older, and a fall could be life-threatening," Layla said anxiously, holding onto Arthur's arm tightly. "Hold onto me, alright?""If I hold onto you, I'll end up pulling you down as well if I fall!" Arthur grumbled.Layla said, "I don't care. Just hold onto me.""Okay, I'll hold on to you," Arthur relented.Winston was quietly following them from behind and couldn't help but smile himself. This was pretty nice.Who wouldn't envy a relationship that stayed this loving and affectionate all the way until old age?"Should we buy some candy?" Layla said, pointing at the candy in front of them.Arthur said, "Okay."Whatever she wanted, he would agree. The two of them acted both harmo

Even though Winston wasn't eating, he was really good at paying and carrying things.Millie felt a strong sense of nostalgia for her own college days as she watched the university students eating. She wished she could go back to high school or maybe even college. She had seen many novels where the main female character went back to high school, and in each of these stories, she no longer loved the male lead when she returned back in time.If she went back to high school…"What are you thinking about? You're about to walk into the wall." Winston interrupted Millie's thoughts and pulled her closer to him.Millie really had almost bumped into a wall."Nothing." She smiled at Winston.Winston raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything. The light from the food trucks shone on him and cast an indescribable sense of fate about him.He didn't belong here. Millie felt an increasingly strong urge to take him out of the scene immediately.Millie felt that if she went back to high school

For a moment, she didn't know what to say.The vendor said, "It seems like I was right. If I had mentioned the word husband, then would you have bought out my whole car?"Winston nodded. Millie was the type of person who stood firm on what she wanted, regardless of who was around. No setbacks or hardships could affect her.Winston thought about this and felt even more heartache for Millie. He was the one who turned the brave and passionate girl, someone who never cared about what others thought, into the cold person she was now.He felt that loving someone was akin to taking care of a flower. He had watched as a beautiful tulip transformed into a rose covered in thorns."Winston?"He heard Millie's voice close by.Winston turned his head and saw Millie frowning. "What are you thinking about? Let's go?""Not going to watch for a bit longer?" he asked."I've seen this fountain so many times. What's so special about it?" Millie remarked with a clear voice, glancing at the fountain.Winston smiled but didn't say anything. In the past, every time she was there, she would always use excuses like "I haven't seen enough" or "Let's watch the fountain a little longer" t
