Suddenly, dark clouds loomed over Yerwick, signaling an imminent downpour.

Millie noticed a black Audi parked at the entrance when she left the hospital. Standing next to it was a man in a suit.

"Millie." He waved at her with a warm smile, excluding charm and elegance.

"Hey, Mr. Harrison! It's been ages since we last saw each other. I can only imagine how busy you've been lately." Millie approached him.

Simon acknowledged. "I just got back from a business trip."

She peered into the car and spotted Simon's suitcase. "Did you come here directly without leaving your suitcase at home first?"

"I missed you, so I immediately came to the hospital," he replied bluntly.

Millie couldn't help but glance at him once more and let out a light chuckle.

"Will you join me for dinner?" he asked.

Millie nodded. "Sure."

Simon gallantly opened the car door for Millie. Once inside, he presented her with a gift. "For you."

"You shouldn't have!"

Simon smiled and said, "It's okay. You saved my dad

Harriet was about to thank the person who had tactfully helped her. However, when she saw it was Millie, her expression changed instantly.Millie looked at Harriet. She was the most beautiful lady among the noble women. She was elegantly dressed and seemed to really like bodycon dresses. Harriet wore them when she bumped into her for the past few times. Her eyebrows and eyes were beautiful. Even at fifty, she remained very attractive. She snorted. "Why are you here?""It's not surprising. Yerwick is so small. There are only a few good restaurants," Millie replied with a faint smile.Harriet glanced at Millie's table, wondering if she was dining alone. She pouted and couldn't help but remark, "You seem quite lonely, eating dinner all by yourself. Joanna always has Mr. Greer accompanying her, whether she is eating or going shopping."Millie's heart sank to her stomach, and her smile froze."If I recall correctly, Mr. Greer is your husband, right?" Harriet asked sarcastically.Mill

Harriet had never imagined having a daughter like Millie. If her daughter ever dared to behave in such a way, Harriet would surely break her legs. At that thought, she couldn't help but let out a weary sigh. She had no idea what Louisa had become over the years. Was she a refined lady from a prestigious family? Or was she as boorish and unpleasant as Mille?…"Do you have any grudge against Mrs. Lowell?" Simon asked curiously."Joanna and I don't get along. It's not surprising that she's not nice to me." Not only Harriet, but also Logan. The Lowell family appeared to be very hostile toward her.Simon was surprised to hear that. Suddenly, he put his arms on the table and said mysteriously, "Millie, I know a secret of the Lowell family. Are you interested?"Millie took a sip of water. What was the secret of the Lowell family? She moved forward on the table, indicating that she was eager to hear every detail.Simon laughed. "Gossip queen! It turns out that there's no woman who doe

"Mr. Greer?" the nurse called out Winston softly.Winston turned, emanating an indescribable sense of pressure. The nurse swallowed nervously and gently handed the medicine to him. "Here's your medication."Winston hummed in response. His gaze shifted toward the emergency room, and he lowered his voice. "What's going on?""Oh, Mr. Harrison's father had a heart attack," the nurse said.Winston frowned as he wondered what Simon's father suffering a heart attack had to do with Millie being there. Could it be that she had become the Harrisons' family doctor after the banquet? Winston found the idea ridiculous. Millie's skill was known in the society. The Harrison family was incredibly bold."Mr. Greer, you still need to pay more attention to your gastric health. Make sure to have three meals on time," the nurse reminded him.Winston frowned. He acknowledged her and left. The nurse's words sparked a memory of Millie. She had been persistently nagging him for years. Whenever he

Without hesitation, Millie immediately rushed forward and grabbed Cara with the man. Cara was hanging against the wall."Let me go!" she cried and shouted.Millie tightly gripped Cara's left arm, while the man firmly caught hold of Cara's right arm. Cara fought desperately to break free, causing Millie's wrist to almost bleed. However, she remained unaffected, as if she was immune to pain. At that moment, her only thought was that Cara mustn't die. The man protected Millie's wrist with his other hand. Millie turned her head and paused when she saw his face clearly."Don't just stand there. Come and help!" he growled at the crowd behind.Millie was stunned. She hadn't expected it to be Winston. The crowd behind rushed to their aid. He instinctively reached out to shield Millie's hand, allowing the rough wall to scrape his own. A group of people joined forces to pull Cara up.Cara cried as tears streamed down her face. She screamed, "Why did you save me? My life is worthless. Y

Millie looked up and noticed the blood dripping from the back of Winston's hand. She couldn't help but glare at him. "Aren't you the same?""Do good deeds without expecting a reward." Winston suddenly stood at the exact spot where Cara had been standing.Upon seeing that, Millie's heart skipped a beat.Suddenly, he turned and asked, "Millie, do you remember saying that you wanted to jump off the building before?"Millie was rendered speechless."You probably don't remember. Let me help jog your memory." Winston found it intriguing and couldn't resist crouching before her.He smiled and said, "Last year, you sent me a message one night. You said you were unwell and that if I didn't return, you would jump off the building and ask me to retrieve your body."Millie's expression grew gloomy. Indeed, she did say that. She was so dumb at the time. She would have said anything stupid just to threaten Winston. Fortunately, she still valued her life. She didn't truly take risks with her

"Oh, a patient jumped off the building, and he saved her." Millie looked at the wound on her wrist. It wasn't serious, just a minor scrape. However, as she glanced at it, she couldn't help but recall the serious injury on the back of Winston's hand."I mean, Winston saw you getting into my car just now," Simon added.Millie was stunned. She smiled at Simon. "So what?"Simon was curious. "You're really not in love with him anymore?""It doesn't matter whether I love him or not," Millie declared, lowering her hand and gazing out of the car window. Was it truly important whether she loved him or not, considering she couldn't have him either way?"Simon." Millie suddenly pointed in one direction. The small fountain square was bustling with people. Simon immediately understood what Millie wanted to do.Millie stepped out of the car and was going to remind Simon to be careful on the way back, but then she saw Simon also getting out."I'm going to look at the place on my own for a

The next day, Millie woke up to a cloudy and foggy morning. She received a phone call from Marvin, but she ignored it because she knew it wasn't important. However, Marvin called again shortly after, giving the impression that he had something urgent to discuss.Millie answered the call while closing her eyes, saying coldly, "Yes?"Marvin exclaimed as if he were witnessing a joke, "Are you still asleep, boss? You've gone viral."Millie was puzzled. "What?""Hurry and open Twitter to see what's trending." With that, Marvin promptly ended the call, clearly eager for Millie to check the latest trends.Millie opened her eyes and yawned. As she connected to the internet, an influx of messages poured in. To her surprise, she found her name in a news headline. "Millie and Simon Sweet and Romantic Night at the Musical Fountain Park. A Perfect Match.""Millie's marriage is in trouble. Millie and Simon had dinner and visited Mr. Patrick Harrison together. After leaving the hospital,

Millie's honesty made Selma uneasy. "Mills, are you in love with Simon?" she asked. If Millie were to claim that she had fallen in love with Simon, the Greer family would stop bothering her.Millie held the phone tightly. She hesitated before replying firmly, "Yes, Grandma. Simon is a good man. He is gentle and kind. I'm extremely happy with him."Selma fell silent once more, and Millie picked up on her subdued sigh. Selma had invested so much in her marriage with Winston, yet it had still come to this point."Mills, I simply can't bear the thought of you leaving." Selma's voice choked with emotion.Millie beamed with a warm smile. "Even though Winston and I won't be husband and wife anymore, our relationship will remain unchanged. I assure you, I'll continue to visit you frequently, alright?"Selma refused to give up. "Mills, please reconsider, okay?""Grandma, I've truly fallen for Simon," Millie said, trying to make Selma give up.There was no point for Selma to continue pes

Layla said, "Even though it's soon New Year's and everyone is busy, try to be a bit more gentle! We're all elderly people here, so what's wrong with being patient?"Since you're in the service industry, you should maintain a proper attitude. If you can't even speak politely, then you shouldn't be in this line of work. I suggest you close up shop for good!"Winston squinted. That voice sounded very familiar. It seemed like Layla's voice. He quickly walked over and saw that Arthur was helping an elderly gentleman up while Layla was engaged in a debate with a young female shopkeeper."How I run my store is my business. If you want to buy something, go ahead. If not, just leave. I don't need you to tell me how to run my life!" The store owner glared at Layla while speaking with a very unfriendly tone, their voice sharp and cutting.Layla was exasperated and asked, "Don't you understand the saying that the customer is king?""What about the damn king? Layla said, "Look, you're really persistent, aren't you? I don't like you. Do you need me to spell it out for you?""Grandma, I want to pursue Mills. Since I want to be with Mills, I need to have everyone's approval. Right now, I'm trying hard to make everyone like me. It's part of the process that you might dislike me at first, but I can't just give up because of that. How else would I pursue Mills?" Winston said clearly. As expected of a businessman, his negotiation style was very serious and precise. Despite his gentle tone, there was still a strong sense of pressure in his eyes and demeanor.Layla moved her lips slightly. She didn't know how to get Winston to leave, so she shouted, "I don't care! Just stop bothering us here!"Winston furrowed his brows.Layla then asked Arthur to pull the cart himself.Ding! Winston's phone rang out.Arthur took the cart and quickly left with Layla.Winston stood still, watching the couple walk away, and couldn't help but sigh. The call on

"Grandpa, are you okay?" Winston finally had a moment to ask how he was doing.Arthur nodded. His demeanor toward Winston seemed a bit more gentle than before.Layla sighed. "There's too many people. Let's all slow down a bit.""Okay," Arthur said with a smile. "Don't worry, I'm fine.""You're getting older, and a fall could be life-threatening," Layla said anxiously, holding onto Arthur's arm tightly. "Hold onto me, alright?""If I hold onto you, I'll end up pulling you down as well if I fall!" Arthur grumbled.Layla said, "I don't care. Just hold onto me.""Okay, I'll hold on to you," Arthur relented.Winston was quietly following them from behind and couldn't help but smile himself. This was pretty nice.Who wouldn't envy a relationship that stayed this loving and affectionate all the way until old age?"Should we buy some candy?" The elderly couple happened to see Winston at that moment.Arthur and Layla exchanged glances. Layla spoke up first. "Mills is not here!""I understand. I'm not looking for Mills." Even though Winston wasn't eating, he was really good at paying and carrying things.Millie felt a strong sense of nostalgia for her own college days as she watched the university students eating. She wished she could go back to high school or maybe even college. She had seen many novels where the main female character went back to high school, and in each of these stories, she no longer loved the male lead when she returned back in time.If she went back to high school…"What are you thinking about? You're about to walk into the wall." Winston interrupted Millie's thoughts and pulled her closer to him.Millie really had almost bumped into a wall."Nothing." She smiled at Winston.Winston raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything. The light from the food trucks shone on him and cast an indescribable sense of fate about him.He didn't belong here. Millie felt an increasingly strong urge to take him out of the scene immediately.Millie felt that if she went back to high school

With her having such good taste, shouldn't I buy two to show some support?"The vendor laughed heartily.Millie pressed her lips together and moved her mouth slightly. For a moment, she didn't know what to say.The vendor said, "It seems like I was right. If I had mentioned the word husband, then would you have bought out my whole car?"Winston nodded. Millie was the type of person who stood firm on what she wanted, regardless of who was around. No setbacks or hardships could affect her.Winston thought about this and felt even more heartache for Millie. He was the one who turned the brave and passionate girl, someone who never cared about what others thought, into the cold person she was now.He felt that loving someone was akin to taking care of a flower. He had watched as a beautiful tulip transformed into a rose covered in thorns."Winston?"He heard Millie's voice close by.Winston turned his head and saw Millie frowning. "What are you thinking about? Let's go?""Not going to watch for a bit longer?" he asked."I've seen this fountain so many times. What's so special about it?" Millie remarked with a clear voice, glancing at the fountain.Winston smiled but didn't say anything. In the past, every time she was there, she would always use excuses like "I haven't seen enough" or "Let's watch the fountain a little longer" t

She could tell that the boy had feelings for the girl, for he was being very cautious. The girl was smiling sweetly at the
