Alanna smiled and nodded.

Amelia beamed. "Your mother would be delighted to hear that."

Hades smirked. "Don't have your hopes up, though. They might break up someday soon."

"Hades Florentine!" Alanna barked. Then she smiled at Amelia. "Ignore him, Mrs. Lane. He has a screw loose."

Hades scowled but said nothing else.

Amelia frowned and eyed Hades suspiciously. Then, she thought of something else and asked, "Oh, right. How's your mother?"

Alanna wistfully chuckled. "Same old."

Amelia sighed. "She'll get better." Frowning, she continued with a disapproving look on her face, "But your father…"

Alanna's brows creased. She quickly asked, "Mrs. Lane, who did Garre… my father usually hang out with?"

Amelia curled her lips. "Unsavory women of course. He'd take them home and fool around with them until the middle of the night. I don't even let my grandson stay over at my place."

Alanna's frown remained. "Did he ever talk to people who seemed noteworthy?"
