I looked at Connor as he stood in the kitchen frozen with broken glass all around him on the floor.

“Who the hell told you that?” He asked.

“No one told me. No one had to. I thought it was Miles at first, but he doesn’t have a reason to not take care of her or the baby. You do have a reason. Me.” I said.

“You figured it out on your own?”

“That and everyone starts acting really weird around me whenever I ask about the baby. And they get even weirder when I say that it’s Miles’ baby.” I said.

“Shit. Look, there’s no proof that it’s mine. She said that it was. I don’t know if that’s true. Listen, there were a lot of girls going through my house at that time. But that was before I met you.” He said.

“I know. I just want to know why you lied to me? Why didn’t you just trust me and tell me the truth?” I asked.

“I was scared. I didn’t want you to leave me. And I was scared that you would think I was going to let that baby take over as heir to this pack.” He said.
