Chapter 6

“Even if you beat Aunt Rowena to death, Calvin won’t come back. Don’t let yourself become a laughingstock in the eyes of others," Travis said emotionlessly, which made Rowena feel sad.

“Travis, this woman is a bearer of misfortune. You should hurry and get rid of her!” Rowena cried out.

Hailey was ecstatic upon hearing this news. It would be wonderful if they kicked you out!

Travis’s distant gaze scanned everyone present before he grabbed Hailey by the shoulder and carried her like a chicken in front of Rowena.

“This woman has expressed no desire to return to the Blake mansion since the day she left the hospital.” I told her that the rest of her life belongs to the Blake family. Even in death, she will remain a part of the Blake family. I stand by my words."

As long as she lived, she was part of the Blake family. Even after her death, her ghost would still be a part of the family.

Following three repetitions of this phrase, Rowena let out a terrifying laugh.

“Okay, let her stay in the Blake family as a widow for the rest of her life!”

Hailey’s expression showed a mix of fury and shame as she gritted her teeth so hard they felt like they were being crushed. Initially feeling pity for Rowena at the hospital, Hailey now realizes there must be a reason for her actions.

She turned her head, giving Travis a disdainful look and pushing his hand away from her shoulder. Walking past him with a blank expression, she retreated to her room. After spending a few days at the Blake mansion, Hailey felt like she was becoming a transparent presence. Whether she was the head of the family or a servant, everyone treated her as if she didn’t exist. If this continued, Hailey wondered if she had followed Calvin to death that day in the hospital and was now haunting the Blake mansion as a disembodied spirit.

She went for a walk, regardless of the Blake family’s approval.

Hailey didn’t inform anyone and left the Blake mansion alone without rushing.

As she stepped out of the mansion, she noticed a change in the air and felt a cool breeze that she found refreshing. If she had known it would be like this, she wouldn’t have stayed inside for days trying to mend her relationship with the Blake family. Taking a deep breath, she felt instantly rejuvenated and smiled warmly. Her smile caught the attention of Travis, who had just left the house.

Travis gave the driver the secretive instructions to follow Hailey because of her expression. The driver maintained a slower speed than Hailey’s walking pace to avoid detection and ensure Travis’s comfort in the car.

Hailey lowered her head and followed the navigation on her phone to find the nearest bus stop, finally understanding why there were no buses around the city.

The Blake residence occupied too much of the area, making it difficult for public transportation to operate efficiently.

The bus stop sign was visible in the distance, and Travis’s intentions became clear to Hailey.

“Didn’t I arrange a car and driver for you?”

Samuel and Travis's bodyguard picked up on the hint of discontent in Travis's words.

“I’ll call and ask the butler what’s going on,” the bodyguard said hastily. After inquiring, they found out that, besides the Blake family’s doorman, the only people who knew Hailey was outside the house were the three individuals from Travis’s car.

Upon hearing the bodyguard’s report, Travis immediately issued orders:

“Deduct the butler’s bonus for this month, dismiss the driver, and hire a new one.”

Samuel and the bodyguard exchanged glances, confirming the truth of the saying that a night as husband and wife symbolizes unwavering loyalty for life. Unfortunately, the people at home were unaware of this truth and mistakenly believed that Hailey had offended Travis. To gain Travis’s favor, they distanced themselves from Hailey, ignoring her completely. Hailey noticed Travis’s car pulling up next to her once again. The unnamed bodyguard opened the door for her and politely gestured for her to enter the car.
