Aurora was still unconscious when Henry barged into the room like his life depended on it. She was trashing on the bed while Kaleb tried to hold her down. Her fists gripped the bedsheets tightly and she threw her head about, struggling against the hands that held her.
Tyler and David hurried into the room after him and the three men stood helplessly, at a loss of what to do. "Why don't we wake her up?" Tyler suggested. He had never encountered anyone who had a panic attack while still unconscious. "That won't be a good idea, beta Tyler." Kaleb disagreed, his voice unstable as he tried to calm Aurora. "She is clearly terrified of something in her subconscious. If we try to wake her up without calming her first, it could affect her psychologically." "Well, we have to do something." Tyler raised his voice in worry as Aurora screams became louder. He turned to Henry and grabbed the latter's arm. "Alpha, if her screams get any louder than this, people will hear and wonder." However, Henry remained quiet. He watched Aurora silently, a thousand thoughts roaming his mind as he thought of what to do. A worried frown creased his brows, and when Aurora twisted out of Kaleb's arms, he finally moved. He reached the bed in three long strides and pulled Aurora into his arms, and his eyes widened when he felt how hot she was. "She has a fever." He said calmly to Kaleb. "I am aware, Alpha. I need to go get the necessary drugs she would need." Kaleb said and rushed out of the room. Tyler paced around, his gaze moving over to Aurora once in a while. "What if she dies?" He asked worriedly. "What if she has some sort of disease that has no cure? Where are her parents?" Henry, on the other hand, didn't bother to answer him. He knew Tyler got agitated whenever he was worked up or worried about something. So ignoring the beta, he put his full attention on Aurora and held her tightly, trying to lessen her struggles. For a full minute, he remained that way, holding her tight against his body. He said nothing, didn't bother to whisper soothing words to her. After what seemed like ages, Aurora finally became quiet. She lay limp in Henry's arms, her face wet with tears. Her dress was damp from perspiration and she still had a fever. Henry carefully lowered her to the bed, slipping his arm away from her waist. He lingered by the bed for a few seconds, brushing a lock of hair away from her brows. As if realizing what he was doing, he dropped his hand and walked away without a backward glance. "Stay with her until Kaleb returns." He threw the words to Tyler and David before stepping out of the room and shutting the door. ... Aurora slowly gained consciousness and immediately, she knew she was no longer in the carriage where she fell asleep. The bed was much softer and more comfortable. She heard low voices conversing, and she was able to catch a few words, but they made no sense to her. After a while, the voices receded and she heard the click of a door shutting close. Silence descended and the only sound she could hear was the howl of the wind. It took her a lot of effort to open her heavy eyes, but she did eventually. At first, all she saw was a mass of blurry colours. Blinking repeatedly, her vision gradually cleared up and she was finally able to see the room. It was beyond magnificent. The room alone was two times bigger than Bishop's mansion. It was decorated in gold, pure gold. The curtains, the bedsheets and pillows, the bedstand. Everything was gold. The large king size bed was positioned in the middle of the room. A mini bar was built into a corner, with different exotic drinks she had never seen. On the other side of the room, a medium-sized table and chair reclined close to the wall, filled with parchment and books. Moving slowly, she got off the bed. Suddenly feeling light-headed, she held on to the bed to steady herself. Seconds later she felt better, and walked slowly towards the large windows on one side of the room. It was night already, and a half moon brightened the sky. All she could see was the thick forest that surrounded the kingdom. In the distance, she could see massive mountains, their peaks disappearing into the clouds. She turned around and gazed at the room, her eyes round with awe. On the other side of the room, mirrors lined the wall from side to side. Aurora walked towards the mirrors, and when she saw her reflection, she grimaced. Because of her ailment, she lost a lot of weight. She still looked pale, but all her wounds had been healed. The bloody bruise around her eye was gone and the scratches on her lips were healed. "Where am I?" She whispered to herself. The last thing she remembered was accepting Bishop's rejection. When she tried to remember what happened after that, she came up blank. Had she been kidnapped? A large frame on the wall caught her attention from the corner of her eyes and she turned slightly to the left, moving closer to get a better view. The name, written in bold golden italics, was the first thing she saw and she read it aloud. "Supreme Alpha and Alpha King of Ashidore, Henry James Robert II." And when her eyes fell on the picture of the handsome man, his golden eyes staring straight at her, his thick hair curling over his brows, her memories rushed back and assailed her. She remembered everything now, how Henry saved her from Bishop's banishment and decided to take her back to the lycan kingdom. It was all coming back to her. "Why did he save me?" She whispered. Suddenly, she froze. Approaching footsteps echoed loudly as someone walked towards the room where she was. She didn't have enough time to go back to the bed because the door suddenly opened and a young man stepped in. But it wasn't Henry. It was the healer, Kaleb. He noticed Aurora standing away from the bed and his eyes widened. "You're finally awake." He said, moving to the desk in the corner of the room and dropping the tray he held. "Um," Aurora mumbled, lowering her eyes to avoid contact. "How long was I asleep?" "You've been unconscious for three days." Kaleb replied. Aurora's head shot up in shock. Three days? How was that possible? Kaleb turned around and took a step towards her, but Aurora retreated, staring at him warily. He sighed and raised his hands, as if surrendering. "I know you're confused." He began. "My name is Kaleb. I am Ashidore's best healer." "Ashidore?" Aurora frowned in confusion. "Yes, Ashidore." Kaleb answered with a smile. "That's where you are. The Lycan Kingdom. Alpha Henry brought you here and you had a terrible fever. Don't you remember?" Aurora remained silent, standing against the wall. She didn't feel comfortable being in a room with a stranger. And a man at that. Kaleb clearly understood, hence he backed away. "Maybe it would be better if I get the Alpha instead. He needs to know you're awake." Aurora was glad that he would leave the room for a while. She would be able to compose herself before Henry came. But to her surprise, Kaleb didn't leave. She watched in astonishment as his eyes fogged for a few seconds, then he focused on her again. "The Alpha is on his way." Kaleb said finally. Aurora knew he used the mind link because she had seen her step-aunt do it several times. She didn't have time to think about the mind link because just then, the door opened and the golden eyed Alpha stepped into the room. His gaze met hers, and Aurora felt an electrifying tingle go through her body. The moment Henry's gaze met Aurora's, she felt an electrifying tingle go through her body. Had he always been this handsome? His hair, as dark as midnight, curled tightly over his perfect arched brows. His eyes, those golden orbs, darkened when he assessed her from her face to her feet, and back again. His lips were set in a straight line, giving him that badboy look. When his eyes met hers again, butterflies erupted in her tummy unexpectedly. Averting her eyes, she cursed herself silently for feeling that way. What Bishop did to her should teach her a lesson that men were beasts. The silence that suddenly descended on the room after Henry's arrival became heavy. Aurora kept her eyes averted, afraid to look up at him. What was she supposed to say? Thank him for saving her? She almost jumped when Henry walked further into the room and addressed her. "You're awake." He said softly. It wasn't a question, but Aurora found herself nodding. Understanding that she was nervous, Henry t
Henry's entire body froze the moment he felt Aurora hug him tightly. His hands were slightly raised, his brows knitted in confusion. One couldn't blame him for reacting that way. He had never received a hug from anyone. It felt so bizarre. Slowly, his arms lowered until it rested on Aurora's shoulder. Only then did he relax and let out the breath he was holding. Who would have thought a ruthless Alpha King like him would feel uneasy because of a woman's hug? The thought amused him and he smiled, shaking his head unbelievably. Aurora finally pulled back and clasped her hands before her shyly. "Thank you Alpha." She mumbled. "I'm sorry if I startled you, but no one has ever been this kind to me. It's not something I am used to."Henry could still feel the warmth of her body against his, and he felt empty when she pulled away. What was happening to him? Why was he suddenly so soft towards her?The smile disappeared from his face and he stepped away from Aurora. "You don't have to tha
"Alpha." Aurora gasped in surprise, gripping the door handle tightly. "I... I wasn't expecting you."Henry didn't reply. Instead his gaze on her got heated. Her night dress latched unto her body like a second skin, accentuating her slim waist and curvy hips. His eyes lowered to her full lips, darkening at how inviting they were. And when his gaze fell on the soft swell of her breasts through the deep neckline of the dress, his breath caught. The lust that slammed into him was swift and unexpected. Staring back into her eyes, he sucked in a deep breath and forced a smile, trying to hide the fact that his groin just roared to life with lust. "Just making sure you're settling in well." He said in a clear voice, as if his breath hadn't been knocked out of him a few seconds ago. Aurora smiled and stepped back, opening the door wider. "Please come in." She said shyly. Henry stepped through the door and looked around the room, impressed by what the maids had done. "I saw the maid you a
Bishop had spent several sleepless nights ever since Aurora was taken away by Alpha Henry. He knew he didn't love her. Hell, he didn't even care about her. He had rejected her without hesitation. The only woman he loved was Amelia. So why did he feel like he had made the gravest mistake letting Aurora go? He shouldn't be thinking about her that way. He sucked hard on the cigarette stick held between his lips, puffing out the smoke in small circular rings. The door to his study opened and he turned his head sharply, his bloodshot eyes zeroing in on Amelia who stepped into the room.Amelia took one look at him, his bloodshot eyes and disheveled appearance, and a scowl settled on her face. "What the fuck has come over you Bishop?" She demanded. Her heels wrapped on the hard floor as she marched towards him, hands planted on her hips. Bishop stared at her like he couldn't recognize her, then he looked away. "Get out of my room Amelia." He growled. "I won't ask you again.""Are you
Aurora woke up the next day to see the sun shining brightly into her room through the curtains that were opened halfway. Although her room was in the northwing, she got a little bit of sunlight before the sun rays shifted. She stretched and yawned, covering her mouth with her palm. She couldn't remember the last time she slept so well. Back in her step-aunt's tiny cottage, she slept on a piece of white sheet. And most times when she awakened the next day, her body would be sore from the hard floor. Thinking of the tiny cottage where she grew up made her remember Lydia, her step-aunt. The woman had been so happy to be rid of her when she found her mate. "She doesn't even care what happens to me." She mumbled to herself. She was sure Lydia wouldn't give a damn if Henry took her away as a slave. The woman always hated her and she never knew why. "I'm so glad to be rid of her." She said and pushed the unpleasant thought away. Moving gently, she got off the bed and walked over to the
"You deserve to die bitch!" Aurora sucked in a deep breath seconds before her tormentor plunged her head into the river. The freezing water knocked the breath out of her lungs and she struggled with the hand that held her, trying to pull her head up. Her tormentor, Estella, held her firmly under the flowing river. The three other she-wolves behind her laughed at Aurora's feeble attempt to escape, but did nothing to try and save her. After a while, Estella pulled Aurora out of the river and smacked her across the face. Aurora fell back, her chest heaving as she tried to draw in deep breaths. Her face and hair were wet and she shivered from the cold. Estella moved closer to her and gripped her hair in a tight fist, making Aurora cry out. "This is just the beginning Rose. If you don't reject Alpha Bishop, I will do more than drown you. I'll kill you, and no one would ever find out." Aurora said nothing in response. She merely gritted her teeth against the pain of Estella's gr
Aurora slowly looked around the room Bishop showed her, her lips parted in surprise. His home was enormous on the outside, but she never thought the interior would be equally large. The room was larger than her aunt's tiny cottage. A huge bed occupied the middle of the room, thick duvets and pillows thrown carefully on it. On one side of the room, the wall was covered fully with mirrors. On the other side, two windows overlooked the forest that surrounded Silver Dawn Pack. It was simply exquisite. She turned around shyly, only to see Bishop staring at her strangely. "Thank you, for earlier." She murmured, referring to his interference when her aunt almost hit her. "You don't have to thank me Rose." He brushed her gratitude aside. "It's my job to protect you." Aurora gulped softly. He was acting so stiff and formal towards her. She had hoped he would be more open to her, but Bishop was acting like he was being forced to be with her. "I hope you like your room."
Sunlight filtering into the room the next morning roused Aurora from her deep slumber. Her entire body ached badly, and the throbbing between her thighs was unbearable. Groaning softly, she sat up on the bed and stared at the stained sheets on the floor. After crying her heart out the previous night, she had washed herself in the bathroom and removed the soiled sheets. She was still dressed in her Jean and blouse of the previous day. Memories of what occurred between her and Bishop the previous night came back to her and she remembered the words he told her. Not wanting it to spoil her mood, she blocked out the thought. It was another day. Maybe she would be able to get closer to Bishop and make him realize that the mate bond was a beautiful thing. He didn't have to be a slave to it. A knock on the door made her jerk and she sat up further on the bed, hoping it was Bishop. "Come in." She called out softly. The door opened and two maids walked in. One held a bucket
