Amelia's pov

The words taste like acid on my tongue, so bitter and so....untrue. Yet I bit my tongue and try to compose myself. We were enemies and I had to remember that. Raiden and I....we could never be.

His eyes flash, a dark gleam of pain that made my stomach drop but as soon as he reveals it, he hides it. He stands up to his full height and I hold my breath when his toned body stalk toward me like a wolf moving to its prey.

The room feels too small and hot with him so close to me. I can only breathe in his scent when he stops just inches from me. His eyes locked on mine and I forgot how to breathe. " Mistake?" He bites out the word with hatred.

I nod numbly, sinking my teeth into my tongue until it hurts.

His lips curl into a sneer and he surprises me when he dips his head, our eyes now leveled, the tips of our nose brushing. The air around us feels like electricity is humming through the atmosphere.
