Chapter 0002

Drip, drip.

The room was so quiet that only the sound of the IV drip could be heard.

Helma moved her fingers and slowly opened her eyes.

She turned her head and saw a man dozing by the bed. She wanted to get up but realized she could hardly move due to the pain.

Her face was pale, and she called weakly, “Neil.”

Half-asleep, Neil King was shocked awake. His chin slipped from his hand that was propping it up and he staggered awake.

Blinking sleepily, he noticed that Helma was awake. Although he did not sound friendly, he was clearly concerned. “You’re awake.”

“Oh, Neil…” In pain, she called out pitifully to her brother. It was the same way she used to call him in the past when she yearned for her brother’s affection.

Startled, Neil realized something was wrong with Helma.

During the two years of her marriage to Cole, she had rarely been home. He could not help but feel that his sister was growing distant from him, but now...

Helma coughed and felt as if her throat was burning. “I need water.”

Neil was about to say something, but he quickly got up and poured her a glass of water. He carefully helped her sit up and said, "Consider yourself lucky that you didn't sustain any serious injuries despite being hit by a truck."

She was bruised all over with some minor fractures.

Helma moistened her throat with a sip and handed the glass back to Neil.

“Where’s Cole?” Neil put the glass on the bedside table, crossed his arms, and snorted coldly. “The hospital staff said he didn’t answer his phone.”

Helma was a little puzzled. “Who’s that?”

She thought for a moment. “Is he the one who sent me to the hospital today?”

It was Neil's turn to be confused. “Huh?”

After a beat, he returned to his senses. “What do you mean? Don't you know who Cole is?”

When Helma shook her head blankly, Neil jumped up from the chair and frantically pressed the bell next to the bed.

The doctor arrived and completed his examination ten minutes later. “Although her physical injuries aren’t serious, the minor damage to her hippocampus caused some memory loss.”

Neil thanked the doctor and turned to Helma.

After a beat, he asked, “How old are you this year?”

Helma said in confusion, “23.”

Neil was dumbfounded.

What the hell?! Did her memory regress?

However…

Neil's eyes lit up.

This was the perfect opportunity to save his silly little sister!

He coughed and warned her seriously, “Cole, who I mentioned just now, is a scumbag. Stay away from him as far as you can. Do you understand?”

Helma nodded in bewilderment.

After staying in the hospital for a few days, Helma's injuries were almost healed, and Neil took her back to the King family house.

In fact, Helma had not been home for two years, but her memory had regressed to two years ago so she could not remember anything. She entered the childhood home that she grew up in like she never left.

Seeing her mother watering the flowers in the garden, Helma went over to hug her. “Mom, I'm back. Why didn’t you visit me in the hospital?”

Madam King had heard about her younger daughter's amnesia from her son. Although she missed Helma, she could not get over her dissatisfaction with Helma’s marriage. So, she had been waiting at home.

Finally, Helma would be coming home today. Madam King had been reluctant to water the flowers because it was too cold in winter, but she went to the garden early in the morning.

She watered the flowers absent-mindedly while the servant next to her kept saying, “Madam, that’s enough! The flowers will drown from all the water!”

Now that her daughter was hugging her so tightly, Madam King's eyes immediately turned red, and she stroked her daughter's head. “Your brother didn’t tell me.”

Neil was speechless. He refused to take the blame for this.

“Let’s go in. We’ve prepared your favorite dessert.”

Helma cheered and ran into the house.

Madam King looked at Helma’s figure with mixed emotions.

After a while, she turned to Neil and said coldly, “Erase all records of Hemmy’s treatment. Don't let Cole find her. It’s best if they never meet again!”

“Yes, Mom.”

His father died in an accident ten years ago, and his mother single-handedly built the King family into what it was today.

Now that she had taken a back seat, Neil almost forgot what an iron-handed and decisive woman she was.

With this family reunion, Neil felt more relaxed.

His little sister had nothing to do with that scumbag now.

She was the little princess of the King family again.
