All of a sudden, I could smell alpha bearing me, the red wolf sensed it too because she immediately vanished.

“Talie, what are you doing?” Alpha sounded genuinely confused. “I was so worried when you shut the link out.”

I decided that I had enough of these. This was something I needed to figure out on my own.

I got to my feet and frowned, “I’m sorry alpha but we need to head back to the pack house.”

Alpha stared at me, evidently confused.

“What?!”

“I can’t explain it now but there’s something I have to deal with.”

“Talie, I knew it this whole time,” he held my shoulders tight, “I could tell something was wrong, whatever it is you have to tell me.”

“No, I’m sorry,” I couldn’t keep his gaze, “but this is something I have to fix in my own. I was so done with not having the choice to be happy.

“Even after all the surprise I set up?” I could hear the sadness in his voice and it genuinely broke my heart.
