Kaden pov

I swore I only closed my eyes for one minute before I started to hear struggling sounds. I reopened my eyes in my seated position that I had managed to doze off in and found Talie sitting on the bed with her arms around her neck, struggling to bring her eyes awake.

"Talie, what’s wrong?"

With all the strength I had, I managed to take her hands away from her neck, and she managed to open her eyes, gasping for breath. She clutched my shirt tight.

"What happened?" I asked, worry edged in my tone.

"I don't know. You were choking me from my sleep," she burst into tears.

"I would never do that. You know it."

"I know?" She continued to cry. "How do I get rid of the hallucinations? Not only are they realistic, they are also hurting me."

I hated there was nothing I could do to help her in the moment.

I wrapped my hands around her tightly and pressed her against my chest. "Don't worry, I'm going to be here by your side. Go to sleep. I promise. Nothing is going to happen."
