Chapter Five
Noah stood up and gestured towards his bedroom. "I’ll be back in a flash.” He disappeared through the door, leaving me to mull over the kind of person he was—his empathy and consideration were almost disarming, and I couldn't deny that there was a sense of security in his presence. Moments later, he returned with a bundle of clothes in his arms. "Here are some of my clean shirts and tracksuit bottoms. They might be a bit big on you, but they should do the trick.” I collected it, but I was moved by his love. The way he talks and everything, is it that he's being nice to me? or he's just nice to everyone this way. “Alright, thank you, I'd go look for Anna” “No, just call her name, she will answer, she works around here not far from my room at all and I kind of trust her, that's why I want her to be your maid, if you are not free with me, make sure you are free with her, she's so nice” “Alright, thank you” I said, I moved closer to his door and I shut his door. “Anna” I called out, and just immediately, she came. “You can take me to my room” “Alright, I'll do that now, please follow me” She moved and I followed her. She entered a room, it was very beautiful and I admired the room so much. “Whoa! This room is beautiful” “You will get to see more beautiful room ma'am, and I am sure your room in your house too will be very beautiful as a model” I smiled, “Thank you, I need to shower” “Alright” She threw a towel at me. “This is the bathroom,” she pointed to a room. I entered, and I bath. When I entered the room, I could not find Anna again I changed to the cloth given to me by Noah. I lied down on the bed, and I kept on pressing my phone. Just then, I heard a knock on the door. “Come on” I said Noah came in. He was putting on a boxer and a singlet, with his hair combed. He looked so sexy and handsome that I could not stop starting. We had eye contact. “What are you here for?” I tried distracting the moment, to start up a conversation. “I just wanted to know if you are fine and comfortable” He asked as he stepped in. “Of course, I am” “I will leave them” As he was about to leave I held him in the hand and I gave him a kiss. “I am sorry” he dragged me closer and kissed me passionately. We continued missing for about a minute, and then for some minutes, we stopped. “I am sorry” He said “It's fine” He left his room and I went to the bed, I kept on imagining the one minute kiss. Noah is a wonderful, quiet and calm man. Ever since I have known him I know him to be a sincere man. My head was spinning, my thoughts, a tangled web of emotions and confusion. The kiss had been intense, unexpected, and undeniably exciting, yet it had left me with a whirlwind of questions. Noah's sincerity, his quiet demeanor, had always been one of the qualities that I admired in him. But this moment, this new development, threatened to change everything. I wondered if the contract between us was truly a shield against such feelings or if it was just a foolproof plan for heartbreak. The clock ticked away, the silence in your room broken only by your racing thoughts. As I tried to make sense of the kiss, a knock on the door jolted me back to the present. Anna’s soft voice echoed through the room. "Miss Rachel, do you need anything” “No, I'll let you know when I need anything” I said and she exit the door *** It's the next morning, and I was preparing for work already. I have no clothes here so I am going to put on the clothes I wore to the gathering. I gave Anna the clothes to get it washed and iron so I could put it on to work and when I close from work, I would go to my house to take some of my clothes. As I began to prepare, Anna brought in the cloth, clean and iron. “Thank you” I said. I put on the cloth in her presence. “Please, could you zip it up for me please” “Sure” she moved closer to help me. “You are beautiful,” She said again. “Thank you” I said, painting my face with make-up. She left my room I got ready to work and I went to the living room. I saw Noah sitting down he was already dressed up in a blue suit, he looks charming as always. “I am waiting for you,” He said. “Me? I am going to work” “I know, I am thinking I could drop you before heading to my office” “Oh! Hope you won't be delayed, I'll be fine, I'll find my way to my office, don't worry” “But I insist” I breathe in and out, and replied, “Okay” We went to the compound, the driver had sat behind the wheel and we sat down at the back of the car. He's such a caring man, from opening the door to closing it. I wish not to separate from him, the car should keep going slowly and gently. “We are at your office” He said after the cat had stopped moving. “Oh!” Thank you very much “You are welcome and when should I come to pick you” “Oh! Do you have to, I'll find my way home” I tried forming a difficulty. “Oh! But I'll want to and you don't have to reject” “Then no problem, I'll be expecting you” I was about to open the car, then I said “I want to go to my house to take done of my clothes” “Is that necessary? I had get new ones for you” “It's important” “Then I will close from work soon so we can head to your house first before going to my house” “No problem then” The day passed by in a whirlwind, my thoughts still lingering on that kiss and the feelings that were beginning to stir within me. Work proved to be a welcome distraction, but the moment I stepped out of the office, my mind raced back to Noah. And there he was, waiting for me just as he had promised. A small smile played on his lips as he opened the door for me. The tension between us was palpable as he helped me settle into the car. "How was work?" he asked, breaking the silence that had settled between you. "It was good, thank you.” The drive back to my house was filled with moments of comfortable silence, punctuated by small talk and brief, charged glances. I couldn't help but wonder if Noah was thinking of the kiss, if it had stirred something within him too. Or perhaps it was just wishful thinking on my part. Eventually, I arrived at my house, the place that once held so many memories with Noah's brother. As I opened the door, the familiar sights and smells brought with them a rush of mixed emotions. “Is anything wrong?” He asked, after he noticed my mood changed. “No, lets go inside, so I can take something” As we were heading in, he said “Your room is attractive” “Common, don't tease me, you just want to say that to reciprocate the compliment I gave when I came to your house” “That's seriously not it, I am sincere now” “Thank you very much, it's a pleasure to hear from you, A CEO complimenting my house, actually it's been my very long time since I was a kid that anytime I become a model, I am going to get a good house for myself. Any money I get, I'll split it into two, one for my upkeep, the other to save, to buy my house…” “Whoa! I love that, that's very good of you, thanks for not depending on anybody” “Well, who am I to depend on? Mum who married someone else and does not care about her daughter? I just need to be strong for myself” “Hmmm, it's well, you are strong indeed, a strong lady indeed, you are my type of lady…” “Huh?” The more I talked with Noah, the more I felt a sense of connection, a strange familiarity that transcended the contract I’d signed. As I rummaged through my room, the silence was almost comforting, each of them lost in my thoughts. The mere presence of Noah in my space was both thrilling and daunting, reminding me of the thin line we were both treading. Suddenly, my phone chimed. It was a message from an unfamiliar number. my heart skipped a beat as I opened it. It was a message from LeoChapter Six“Noah, can you please give me a moment?” I request, trying to mask the sudden rise of emotion that threatens to overwhelm you.“Of course,” he replies, his eyes never leaving yours. There’s a moment of stillness as you navigate the sudden intrusion of the outside world into your private sanctuary. The message- ‘Rachel, I see you’re still playing games. Guess you’re not over our breakup yet, huh? Just so you know, I saw you are trying to play games by dating my brother. Don’t you think you’re going a bit too far with your little revenge plan? Or maybe you’re just that desperate for attention. Let’s be honest, we both know you’re not over me.’As I read the message, I was lost and I couldn't control myself. “What are you reading?” Noah asked as he moved closer to me.“Nothing” I said as I cover the screen”“Are you keeping something from me now?”“No, I said No”“Your words may say no, but your body language tells a different story”Noah's gaze narrows, as if he can sense th
Chapter Seven. With the gale of courage at my back, I crossed the threshold of Noah's room, determined to see what was going onAfter several persistent knocks, the door finally swung open."What is going on here?" I demanded, my voice wavering slightly as I took in the sight of Noah in a boxer and singlet while the so-called secretary was wrapped in his towel. My indignation masked the shock that reverberated through my mind.“I thought this is a business discussion but now I know this is a bedroom discussion”Noah was speechless, after so many minutes, the secretary broke the silence, “Mr. Noah, I thought she's your brother's fiance, what's she doing here?”Swallowing hard, I turned your attention back to Noah. "I am going to dinner room now and I expect to see you in less than a minute”I was leaving, when the secretary left the bed she was sitting on to drag me back. “You can just command anyone you feel like because you are a model. Do you know who you are talking to? A CEO and y
Chapter Eight As I woke up the next morning, I found Noah beside me and it dawned on me what had happened between us yesterday night.I thought it's just a contract marriage to make his brother jealous, and probably he would get back his senses.I slipped out of the bed gently, not wanting to wake Noah. As I was walking out of the room, I heard his voice, as he was stretching up.“Good Morning Rachel” I pretended not to hear him.“I am sorry for what happened yesterday”“Was it not your intention?”.“I am sorry, I never forced you, it happened out of our will, I am sorry”“Oh! You want to use me so you can dump me the way your brother did?”“Rachel. I love you, and last night only made me more certain of that."I swallowed hard, the words catching in my throat. "Noah, this is all so complicated. We started this as a contract, an arrangement to help both of us. And now... now we're talking about love. What if this changes everything in a way we can't handle?""Maybe it will change ev
Chapter NineThe weight of public scrutiny pressing down like a vise. My voice shook as I spoke, barely keeping the panic at bay. “And what do I have to do? My fans are against me. How do I keep getting work from my clients? How?”Noah leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, a calm expression on his face that did nothing to soothe my anxiety. “I’ll just call Leo,” he said, his voice steady. “He can release a statement to clear the air about what happened, and that he caused all this.”I turned to him, incredulous. “And do you think that’s going to happen? Do you think he will do that?”Noah didn’t flinch, didn’t even hesitate. “He will. I know he would.”His certainty unsettled me.It wasn’t that I didn’t want to believe him, I wish to believe him . But the reality of Leo’s betrayal was too fresh. The idea that he would step up now, after everything, seemed like a joke.I shook my head, trying to make sense of it all. “You really think he’ll just come out and admit it? Take the b
Chapter TenThe press gasped, cameras capturing every angle of Noah’s admission. I could hardly believe what I was hearing—Noah was telling the world his feelings for me, right there in front of everyone.“Noah,” one reporter pressed, “are you confirming that you’re in a relationship with Rachel now?”Noah didn’t flinch. “I’m confirming that Rachel deserves better than what she’s been given. She should be a role model to every young lady who wants to be independent in their room. And for the relationship aspect, that's between us, we don't owe anybody explanation about how we feel”The questions kept coming, but Noah remained steadfast, giving them nothing more than what he already had. I could see the determination in his posture, the protective edge in his voice as he defended me against every insinuation, every half-truth.While watching the videos I can't stop staring at him, his handsomeness, his sexy eyes, and posture. He watched them talk, without giving any reply, he then turn
Chapter Eleven Third PobRachel cooked the food, and she served it out in the dining room. They both sat down.“This is delicious! you see you should run a very big restaurant alongside being a model” he said after a bite.“You see I always make sure to get home not too tired so I can be able to prepare food myself. When you were underestimating me, I don't want to brag so I won't be hyping myself” Rachel said as she watched him savor another bite.“This is more than hyping yourself, some certified chef can't prepare what my baby prepared! Wait, have you worked as a chef before?”“Let's leave that, let's eat, and when we are done we would continue on the bed”“Really?” He was mute, and he continued on eating. Moments later, his phone rang.“Hello mum” Noah said after picking.“I have seen various rumors about Rachel and you. Are you two in a relationship? Contract marriage? Or what's going on”“Mum, I can't say exactly but what I know is I am in love with her, and I wish to let the w
Chapter TwelveIt was Monday, and a particular busy one at that.Rachel had gone to work early as she has gotten a lot of things to attend to after taken some days off. Noah went to work straight after driving her to her office.Noah had another agenda for the day. To go to the president’s house. Noah had a close relationship with the country's president. After wrapping up the work for the day, he used the opportunity to go and say ‘Hi’ to the president. When he arrived at the presidential residence, he me president and the wife, who's the first lady, are discussing.“Oh! Mr. Noah, you are here. Welcome, "the first lady greeted warmly with a genuine smile. The president stood from where he was sitting to greet him. “Ah, my brother! How are you? Hope you are fine?” he asked with a broad smile.“I’m doing fine. How about you, Mr. President?” Noah replied as he shook the president’s hand firmly.“Noah! I am fine as well. Thanks for coming”“Sit down, Mr. Noah” the first lady added, her
Chapter Thirteen Noah left the presidential residence with a mix of emotions swirling inside him. When he arrived home, the house felt emptier than usual. He was tired, but noticed something when he came inside He checked the house and noticed Rachel isn't home yet.“Anna, where’s Rachel?” he asked Ana, who was tidying up in the living room.“She’s still at work, sir,” Anna replied, looking up from her task.Noah frowned, glancing at the clock. It was late and she hasn't gotten home yet. He had actually forgotten to pick her up after the visit to his friend, who is the president.“Oh! I forgot to pick her up” He took his car key from the table, without changing his clothes, just his shore to pairs of slippers. He drove with sprees to his office. Thirty five minutes later, he arrived at her office. He saw her coming out of the office, he was glad that she hadn't been waiting for him.“You are here! I don't even know you will come and pick me, thanks for everything darling”“You are w
Chapter Ninety Six: PeaceThe room was quiet, the hum of the evening outside barely heard through the windows. Rachel sat on the bed, pulled her knees up close to her chest, and looked down at her hands. It had been an emotional day in surges which would leave one drained and still feel lighter than it had in weeks. She had heard Noah's words, taken the weight of his forgiveness, and finally-finally-allowed herself to believe that moving on was possible. But it was not only the past that weighed upon her with Noah. It was something deeper, far deeper, which she carried with her for much longer: the weight of decisions taken and actions she had led herself into in this position she is in presently. And none of these would have been possible without Vanessa. That made Rachel stop and think. Her friend, her confidante-her best friend-had always been there for her. In the maelstrom of their pain together, however, there was a part inside Rachel that wondered whether those choices had been
Chapter Ninety Five: The Unannounced VisitThe air was cool that evening, with that certain sting that made one clinch the jacket tighter and quicken the steps. Noah and Stephanie just stepped out of the restaurant, with the silence between them thick with dinner. Noah's mind had raced since their conversation, but his resolve had only been strengthened. He had to do this. He needed to see Rachel, to tell her he had forgiven her and wanted nothing other than for the two of them to be free to move on in life and find peace.Stephanie walked beside him, her hand clasped in his. She knew what he was doing, and as much as the wiser part of her still harbored her own reservations about the situation, she did understand that Noah needed this for his healing. She couldn't deny that a part of her was nervous, too-this wasn't going to be an easy conversation. But they couldn't ignore the past forever. Sometimes, closure was the only way forward. They turned to the building that housed Rachel's
Chapter Ninety Four: A Dinner Between HeartsEvening had worn into the comfortable silence; Noah sat opposite Stephanie, watching as she carefully placed the settings of the dishes she prepared for the better part of the afternoon. The hum of the kitchen at the restaurant behind him was accompanied by clinking of fine china and silverware, with wafting smells of fresh vegetables and herbs that reminded him of how much he had missed homely comforts. With a quiet contentedness that only can come from cooking for somebody dear, Stephanie smiled brightly at him across the table. She had always been a fantastic cook, and tonight wasn't going to be an exception. There was such delicacy in the balance of tastes and flavors on his plate to confirm her genius, but more important than anything was the fire that lit with her presence there, and her laughter that danced around the room in its voice. You know, she said, sipping her wine, I think this might be the best meal I've made in weeks. Mayb
Chapter Ninety Three: Rachel's Inner StruggleRachel sat alone in the darkened room of her apartment, hands clasped tightly around a mug of tea that she hadn't sipped. The warmth from the cup seeped into her palms but did nothing to quell the chill gnawing at her chest. She hadn't been able to get out of bed for the past few days, but today, her mind couldn't afford the luxury of lingering in self-pity any longer. She knew no longer what to do with herself as the world kept blurring into one big confusion of pain. The weight of her actions weighed heavily upon her, at times insurmountable. She quit her job, the one thing that anchored her into some kind of routine, just to get away from the tension slowly choking her. The thought of facing Noah after everything that had happened-after having betrayed him and watched him move on with Stephanie-was just too much to bear. Her guilt was eating her from the inside out, spiraling further down each passing day.The betrayal nipped at her con
Chapter Ninety Two: The fight of Rachel and Vanessa's Growing PressureShe sat on the edge of her bed and stared into the quiet night out her window. The city glowed alive, but every one of its lights, so it seemed, was farther away from the storm brewing in her heart. An ache inside her chest made her feel the air thicken enough to suffocate her with every desperate attempt to get more air in. It wasn't the night that was heavy, but the torment inside of her, her guilt, the betrayal, and all her wrong choices. Each time her mind drifted to Noah and the days with him, she remembered how he loved her, took care of her, and was there for her during the days when she needed it most. It now felt like the memories had been poisoned. Every touch he had given her, every word of love, every gesture was clouded in the knowledge that she had betrayed him. Not just once but twice-first by dating James, then by her part in Stephanie's kidnapping. She had crossed lines she could never uncross.Tea
Chapter Ninety One: GuiltThe soft, rhythmic sound of the rain tapping against the windowpane provided almost a melancholic soundtrack to Rachel's thoughts. She sat alone in her small apartment, the dim light from the lamp casting long shadows on the walls. She stood stiff, her hands curled into fists where her nails had dug deep into her palms to steady some unevenly escaping breaths from her chest. The whirlwind of turmoil, guilt, and regret all swirled within her mind.Rachel had sat here for hours without the slightest idea how much time had actually elapsed since she last checked her watch. Outside, the world had dulled to a gray haze, rain diffusing reality and fantasy. Her head was filled with visions of what had taken place during the last days. The look on Stephanie's terrified face when they took her away-when she and Vanessa dragged her away-stayed in her mind, awake or asleep. It was a memory that she could not shake, no matter how hard she tried. She thought of Noah and h
Chapter Ninety : A Flash of JoyThe day was dying, and the golden softness of the setting sun cast its warm light upon the city. In the house, a mixture of excitement and anticipation filled the atmosphere. Noah had spent hours preparing for this moment-this day he had been planning for weeks. The room was set up, candles lit, flowers put out, and soft music was playing-perfect to set the tone of the evening just right. Everything was so intricately planned, and finally Noah was ready. He stood at the center of the room, feeling his heart beating much faster than normal. Inside him, there was some nervous energy-a mixture of anxiety and excitement-but besides that, deep and calm, one realization: This was going to be the biggest move of his life with somebody he truly cared about. The door creaked softly open, and Stephanie walked in; her eyes lit immediately with the romance of the atmosphere. Her expression softened further at the sight of Noah, who stood awaiting her. The air seeme
Chapter Eighty Nine: The Unexpected She went to the window and adjusted the sheers to let in the soft light of the afternoon sun. The room was intricately set: candles on elegant holders, casting a warm glow in the room; rose petals scattered all over the bed and floor; a table at the corner had all kinds of delicate desserts and champagne glasses. The mood in the room was romantic, to say the least-perfect for Noah's proposal to Stephanie. He readjusted a small, velvet box stuck into his jacket pocket and scanned the surroundings critically over it. There was an almost palpable sense of contentment in the air: Things were going according to schedule, and he could already not wait to see Noah pop the question."Is it ready?" Sophia asked him, turning from the window toward him.Almost. Just putting the finishing touches on everything," he replied, readjusting the position of flowers that had been put in a vase on the table.Sophia beamed and moved over beside him, looking at all that
Chapter Eighty Eught : Betrayal and LoyaltyThe words stuck in her head while she felt her heart hit her stomach. Stephanie was the one Noah was going to ask to marry him. The woman who once had been her secretary , a woman who had been the catalyst of so many changes between her and Noah. And now, to hear that Noah was seriously considering a future with her-to hear that he loved her-left Rachel so exposed. As if every mistake she had ever made, the choices she had ever regretted, were coming back to haunt her in the worst possible way.Her mind swam with thoughts of her past with Noah: how she had betrayed him by cheating on him with James, his best friend. Guilt weighed in, and she had lain awake on many nights trying to account for her actions. She'd thought she could bury it, that time would cure the wounds, but that moment it threw itself at her-that Stephanie could have a future with Noah-everything was right back there in her face. Un-forgetful-the manner in which Noah looked
