Christian was in his office, sitting at his desk, staring at the photo that Forrest had in his hand earlier. It was not much of a photo, as it was really just a drawing, made by a child. The content? A woman in a dress, with a little boy next to her. They were not just any woman and boy; the latter was him, when he first drew it many years ago, and the former was his mother.

This drawing was one of the first things he made for her, after Forrest saved them- saved her- from a madman. He didn't remember much about that guy; only the pain he forced his mother to go through, while he had them imprisoned in his ‘love hotel’. At the time, he didn’t know exactly what sort of torture she had to endure; only that it often ended with her returning in a miserable state, her clothes disheveled, and sometimes with some new bruises on her body. Yet, despite what she went through, every time she returned to their room, a smile would form on her face, as though to hide her pain from her son. Or maybe

"Milord?"Christian turned his gaze to Retchet at his call. He who awakened as soon as he sniffed a new yet familiar scent in the room.“I see someone has made himself comfortable in another’s abode. I don’t believe I remember allowing you to rest in my room,” he stated.Retchet would flinch at the statement, if not for one little fact that Christian was in his room with Rebecca. The latter taking the former’s bed as she slept and recovered. Even if his Alpha had ordered Rebecca to be brought here to recover, even if Forrest managed to talk him out of getting her raped by a bunch of human-demeaning werewolves, neither of those were enough for Retchet to feel at ease, leaving the human girl here with the half-werewolf. Besides, as assigned by a higher-ranking werewolf, he was now Rebecca’s protector. He had to ensure her safety, even if it was from Christian.“I assume her injuries has been tended to,” the Alpha then said.“Yes sir,” Retchet answered. “What will you be doing to her fro

'It hurts... Everything... hurts...'Pain was the first thing that registered in Rebecca's mind as soon as she regained conscious. She slowly opened her eyes, finding herself in an unfamiliar room. It was not the dark room- at least, she hoped it wasn't- and it certainly was not Christian's room. The room seemed bigger compared to his, and it had a window, judging by the curtains she could see, with a bit of light peeking in from the other side, as she tilted her head to the side. Just that one small action alone was enough to make her groan in pain, and her body feeling just as sore.'What happened?' she wondered, raising a hand to her head.In doing so, she could see a faint red mark left on her wrist. One look at the mark, and memories of what happened last came flooding back into her, causing her to pale in shock.'O-Oh... That's right,' she thought, now turning to the side, as she curled up her body as best as she could despite the pain, and wrapped her arms around herself. 'Chri

As he left his room and gave Rebecca the space she needed for the time being, Retchet walked down the halls of the hideout. As he walked, he could faintly hear whispers and mutters throughout the hall from several other werewolves in the area. The topic of these whispers? His sanity in going against Christian’s orders to treat Rebecca as a slave she should be, and even going as far as to protect her from some of their selected members who were going to be rewarded for their hard work during their time in this pack. There were also a bit of complaints from those very werewolves, stating how Retchet shouldn’t have interfered, and didn’t even have any right to, even if he was one of the longstanding members of the group and had Christian’s favor. Retchet could only sigh at the whispers. ‘These dogs… If they truly have a problem with what I did, they should know better than to just talk about it behind my back. Or has living in the human world dulled their common sense? Wouldn’t be surpr

The next few days were unusually quiet for Rebecca. Not that she minded the silence. In fact, given all that has happened, she greatly welcomes the solitude. Plus, now that she was expelled from school and away from the one place she used to call home, she didn’t have to deal with her usual bullies anymore either, or her father’s drunken acts. As for the happenings in the hideout, to her surprise, she hadn’t met with any of the other mafia members in the place, aside from Retchet, of course. He who was truly looking after her- caring for her- as he said he would. It was a foreign feeling, having someone look after her the way he did. The last person who genuinely did that was none other than her mother, before her father’s crime. Of course, that didn’t mean that she would trust Retchet that easily. Besides, once she was all healed up, she knew things will be different. Still, she had to admit that it was nice, to be cared for. For there to be someone who actually care enough to want

School has been a bore for Christian, as he sat at his desk and looked out the window, paying little to no attention to the lessons being taught. These days, his mind has been occupied by thoughts of one certain girl in his hideout, being looked after by one of his wolves. He did not like her, and that was putting it mildly. He did not like that he had actually spared her life and allowed her to live under the tutelage of one of his close acquaintances. He did not like that even though she was out of his sight, Christian could not keep her out of his mind. He did not like... That she looked more like his mother by the day.Yes, he realized now that he had done her wrong by thinking she had been mocking his mother this whole time. For her to have gone through so much bad in her life as his mom did, whose past very few people knew about. In fact, as Forrest had pointed out the other day, no one even knew his mother, or anything about his family history prior to his 'adoption' to the Riv

For the next several days, Rebecca was getting daily checkups by Mitch to see progress in her recovery. Although she was somewhat aware of the progress days earlier, she was still surprised to see how quickly she was healing. Particularly today, as Mitch undid the bandages on her torso and gave her side a little feel.“Okay. How does this feel?” he asked.“It feels fine,” she answered, keeping her shirt up so Mitch can do his careful examination. Just up enough so her chest can still be concealed. Not just from the doctor, but from Retchet, too. He who was standing by the door, watching the examination.“And your body is not feeling sore or anything keeping your shirt up, year?” Mitch asked.“No. Like I said earlier, I feel better now.”The doctor only slightly nodded at her response. “Then how about here?” He lightly trailed his hands down her side, this time being a big reaction, as she jumped slightly from the feeling, prompting him to stop and look at her with a raised brow, as wa

When Retchet left, Rebecca let out a sigh, as she got out of bed and got to cleaning the room. ‘Why is he even bothering to make me feel belonged here?’ she wondered. It was a good question, in her opinion. No matter how she thought of it, it did not make sense for Retchet to care about her. They did not interact with each other long enough. In fact, they were practically strangers. He has no reason to care about what she goes through, or even make her see the good in his boss. Besides, as a mafia, she had thought he would be as relentless as the others and make her succumb to whatever horrific fate awaits her. He and his fellow mafia members proved that back when they barged into her former house and demand her father to repay the money he owed. ‘Is it different because I’m a victim to his crimes? Christian was going to let me go and bring Dad to them. It couldn’t be that Retchet has been thinking the same way for me and was trying to make up for my being forced to stay here. Even

"Christian! We need to talk,” Retchet called, knocking on the young Alpha’s office door. When he received no response from the other side, he turned the door knob and opened the door. “I’m coming in.”Upon entry, rather than finding the teen in the room as he had assumed, it was actually empty. Retchet was aware of Christian’s usual routine. At this time in the afternoon on a Friday, the guy should’ve been in his office, either doing some homework from school or handling some paperwork. A mafia group they may be, even mafias have paperworks their boss has to handle.“Does he have one of those sports activity today at school? Which sports team needed his help this time?” he wondered. Ever since he was passed on the responsibility look after Rebecca, another werewolf was given the task of being their Alpha’s driver to and from school. Most likely due to the lack of trust Christian now has for him. That said, he doesn’t know what his schooldays schedule will be like. Not when he sometime

Now in the face of such transformation happening before her, Rebecca did not know what to think. Her first thought was that she may still be dreaming this, and pinched her cheeks, only to just feel the pain, no matter how hard she pinched herself.“You’re not dreaming, that I assure you,” Christian told her, aware of what she was thinking, doing that. He looked down on himself, glaring at his hand in disgust. “I know this is unbelievable. Trust me, I was just as surprised, learning about this part of me.”Seeing him look at himself in that manner, Rebecca eased up slightly around him, as she continued to hear him out.“I don’t care much about this half of me, so I’ll make it simple. Apparently, there is a world of monsters out there, parallel to this world. There supposedly are gates that connects the two worlds, but I don’t know or care where those gates are. Unlike how humans believe monsters are nothing more than fairy tales used to entertain or frighten children, monsters are well

Rebecca woke up to her neck and back aching a bit. Opening her eyes, she found that she had woken up in bed, in Christian’s room. Sitting up, she rubbed the aching spot on her neck, trying to ease the pain.‘Ow… I must’ve slept funny last night,’ she thought. A thought that gave her a pause, as she realized one little thing. ‘Wait… When did I fall asleep? Or did I never wake up the first time?’She could remember it well enough, the scene somewhat fresh in her mind. How she and Christian found out that Retchet knew about his mother- and potentially where she may be- to the guy changing… into a monster. But, that can’t be real. Her waking up in bed proves that. It had to be a dream.‘Yeah, of course it was a dream,’ she thought, feeling somewhat relieved now. ‘Think about it, myself. A monster? A person turning into a werewolf? There’s no way that can ever be real. Stuff like that is only fiction. Works of fantasy.’The more she told herself that, the more it made sense to her. She did

There were many impossible things that happened in Rebecca's life. Things that should not have happened- never happened to anyone else- yet for her, it all came to be. Because of that, she didn't think she would have a good, normal life anymore. Not even when Christian admitted his mistake towards her and promised to treat her better.Never, however, did she ever think her life would get any weirder. Any worse than it already has. Not when she was standing there, before a real monster… hovering over her.“A… A werewolf…?” she uttered out, resulting in a harsh growl from Christian. Not wanting her to be in any danger, nor for her to witness anything that will come next, see what can never be unseen, Retchet hastily got up and slipped past Christian, landing a firm karate chop behind her neck. One clean hit, and she was knocked out cold. Before she hit the floor, the Beta werewolf managed to catch her and gently set her down.“Milord, please, wait!” he pleaded, resulting in another snar

  • Shattered Heart: My Owner is the Mafia Alpha   Revelation of Terror

Retchet had often imagined this day to happen. The day when young Alpha Christian would find out about his little secret. That he knew where his mother was resting. And yes, he had imagined the boy enraged upon finding out that he hid such truth from him. Perhaps even to the point of wanting to murder him with his own two hands. He did not think such a day would come so soon- all because the secret was accidentally slipped to him by another he had hinted out the secret to- as he was practically dragged to Christian’s office. The boy whose strength, at times such as this, becomes insanely powerful, more than that of an adult Alpha, as he tossed the Beta to a desk and slammed the door shut.“You have a lot of explaining to do, Retchet!” Christian demanded. “How the hell do you know about her?!”Perhaps he wanted to cling on to that small hope that he can hide the secret a little longer, or perhaps it was the small habit of needing to keep that secret on Alpha Fenris’s command, but rathe

  • Shattered Heart: My Owner is the Mafia Alpha   Not Supposed to Know Unless...

Rebecca was quite surprised with the words that left his mouth. There were others who already know about the true reason for the mafia’s existence? More than that, Retchet was not supposed to be one of them who knew?“Well… Sure, maybe he shouldn’t be knowing about it, but like I said, he could have overheard the intention from you at some point, or one of those other people who know,” she reasoned, trying to make sense with what she was told.“Neither of those could be possible,” Christian denied once more. “Not once have I said a word about my mother to anyone, or that I was looking for her. Any mentions about her were far too vague. Even my investigation board for her, I never mentioned her relationship to me.”Rebecca grew more shocked and confused when those words left his mouth, as she glanced at the board. As he said, though there were some details on the several notes on there about a missing person they said nothing about who, exactly, that person was. Not to Christian, at le

When Rebecca next woke, she found herself lying in bed. Feeling groggy, she sat up and rubbed sleep out of her eyes… when she came to realize something.‘When did I fall asleep?’ she wondered, looking around the room.Rebecca was undoubtedly in Christian’s room- that much she knew and remember. However, she did not remember falling asleep on the bed.‘Let’s see… What did I do beforehand…?’ she wondered, trying to remember what happened last. She turned her head to the side, where she saw some slips of paper placed on a desk. From what she could see from the bed, they were not notes for Christian’s investigation board. They were handwritten, for one, and the papers were quite big to be put anywhere on the board. Her eyes widened as she recalled the events last night. ‘Oh that’s right. I was jotting down ideas on what the bedroom should look like for Christian’s mother,’ she remembered. ‘I dozed off several times, too. Tried to keep myself awake. Guess I ended up falling asleep at some

As she entered Christian’s room, Rebecca found herself growing stiff once more. Each step she took felt heavier than the last, as she questioned why she was even in this situation. ‘What do I mean ‘why’? It’s all because of that idiot who borrowed their money and never paid them back. Then again, I had to open my mouth and offer myself as tribute instead,’ she thought, reminding herself how her situation even began, before shaking her head. ‘No. There is no use crying over spilled milk. Besides, if you can remind yourself of reality, reality of this situation is that Christian will not try anything to you. He’s not that sort of guy.’She managed to somewhat calm herself as she thought that, trying to put more belief in that thought than having some doubts in it. Something that is more difficult for her than anything else, considering the life she led and was led. Lifting her head up, her eyes caught sight of a familiar board hanging on a wall. One that got her in trouble once with Ch

"This will be your room from this point forward. Should you need anything, don’t hesitate in the slightest to let me or my men know,” Christian told Rebecca, she who could only look on in uncertainty with the room shown to her.“Um… Christian… Why are we at your room?” she asked, recognizing the room very well and hoped that he was either mistaken or playing some twisted joke on her.“Word tends to travel fast under this roof regarding anything involving the mafia. I would imagine your situation would be no different. That said, I cannot exactly say I can trust my men enough to believe they won’t try something funny to you behind my back. They are, however, smart enough to know better than to ever step into my room without my permission. Not unless if they wish to be severely punished after.”It did not take Rebecca long to know what he meant by that. “Because of your mom…” she muttered. Her mutter did not go unheard by Christian, who instantly thought about his long lost relative. "What will you do?”Petra flinched upon hearing that voice, as did Rebecca. Not so much as ‘flinched’, as she was just surprised to hear it.“M-Milord…” Petra stuttered, looking at the figure behind Rebecca.“I believe I already made it clear how this one is to be treated, Petra. How quickly you are to disobey me. And here I had thought you were one of the bright ones amongst the many here. How wrong I was,” Christian said.Seeing Christian as he was now, Rebecca also could not help but shudder, having been reminded of the first time she encountered him as the mafia leader. That frightening, cold attitude he had as he spoke, the heartless glare he had in his eyes, as he stared in disinterest. While this was not as bad as the times he had looked at her with so much rage and disgust under the false assumption that she had been mocking his mother, this silent raging aura radiating from him was not any better.“Do forgive me, milord, but I do believe you are mistaken somewhere,” Petra tol
