5: ?

After leaving the holiday house, he'd meandered through the town, always taking the quieter, darker, back streets and alleys, slowly working his way through the centre and out towards the less affluent area of town.

He knew Henrik owned several other businesses in this area, and he'd hoped to get close enough to hear, or see, something useful. And it seemed he was in luck.

There was a mighty crash from one of the warehouse loading docks, followed by several smaller ones and some yelling. He melted into the shadows - a peculiar ability of his kind - where his presence was almost completely imperceptible. Silently, he slipped closer until he was in proper earshot, "..needs to be cleaned up and out by tomorrow! Henrik'll be checking back Friday, and if he sees this mess your ass is in it!" Some more loud noise followed, along with some muttering and swearing, before all went calm again.

He smiled, seeming satisfied. Friday. Perfect. Slipping away, he sent another message to his brothers, and wandered silently through the backstreets again. He stopped briefly past a couple of other places that Henrik owned, but there was little happening as daylight began to fade.

That feeling tugged at him again, and he frowned. It had lessened some over this side of town, but as he began to wander back towards the main street it was getting stronger again. As much as he hated it, his curiosity was overwhelming.

He grimaced, deciding to head to one of the local bars to see if he'd learn anything more there. Opening the door to Pete's Place, he nodded at the only server on, and chose a booth for himself in the corner.

He'd could see the door easily from here, but would be much less noticeable to those coming in, over on this side. The server came straight over, a cocky looking kid with a bright smile, "Hey, what can I getchya?" he said, casually.

Not bothering with the menu, he ordered a brand of beer that he had noticed was on the coasters, and pulled out his phone, making it clear he wasn't interested in conversation.

The server took the hint and left with a "Sure, no worries.", bringing his drink back shortly, "Here ya go, just give a wave if you want anything else." and flashed his bright grin again before leaving.

He nodded and took a sip mostly for appearance, and settled back into the cushioned seat, frowning. The feeling was getting stronger still, and bothering him all the more. 'What the fuck could be doing that?' he thought, his frown deepening.

This was not natural. Something or someone was screwing with him, and when it came to him and his brothers, that was always a dangerous game to be playing. They weren't so natural either, and if this continued, someone was going to have to find that out the hard way.

He was pulled from his thoughts by his phone vibrating in his hand. His brothers had finished making their plans to join him. "Be careful, something feels off here." he sent back quickly, before his attention was drawn suddenly to the bar.

And to her.
