OLIVIA

I felt like I was experiencing something magical. All this time with Frank was wonderful. Study nights always ended in the most wonderful way. Every day, my fears disappeared until I completely forgot about them.

“Tomorrow is the big day. Honestly, I’m nervous,” I said tensely.

“Why my love? We’re ready. We’ll succeed in what we set out to do, I’m sure of it. And we make a good team together. Plus, I’ll be there to protect you. I won you hard, so I will not let you get away from me,” he said, smiling.

“Hey.... Don’t be mean!” I replied, pretending to be angry to tease him.

“I’m not being mean, I’m being realistic,” Frank said, laughing as he poured me my morning coffee.

I spent most of my time at his place. I rarely went to the hotel, and then only to meet and chat with colleagues. That is until I got up the courage and told them everything. I was surprised to discover how happy they were to hear the news. They were happy for me, just as I was happy for their every success.

KevinThe big day has arrived. It was the first time I was really nervous. Perhaps the words Carla said to me before she left had settled deep into my subconscious. It was still crazy for me to be afraid. Like it was the first time I’d ever done anything like that.I had to admit it was the first time I’d ever worked with Luke. We’d done deals together before, but we’d always had middlemen who took care of everything. We just signed the paperwork and enjoyed the profits. This deal was something different. Luke insisted we handle it personally, and I didn’t dislike the idea. It was the most important deal you and I have had since we met. There were a lot of guns involved, but also a lot of money. I sat alone in my office, staring at my laptop screen. I was waiting for a notification that forty percent of the amount discussed was going into my accounts. The payment was to be made in three installments. The second installment was another thirty percent of the amount discussed. This cam

OliviaI looked him straight in the eye without giving him a reply. I jerked out of his grip, wanting to leave, but he grabbed my hand and pulled me tight until our bodies were joined. He wrapped his arms around my waist to make sure I couldn’t move.I struggled, but to no avail. A pleasant vibration ran through my body. As if thousands of butterflies played through my whole body. The touch between us turned into a lightning bolt that electrocuted my body. The scent of the perfume he used caressed my olfactory senses, which together with the electric shocks I felt, turned into hot shivers of pleasure. He leaned over and kissed me. Though I wanted to shy away, my body had another plan. I remained steadfast. His sweet lips gently touched mine. Their touch was enough for me to permanently lose control of my body that was bathed in the quiver of passion. This man had an insane power over me. It was as if he was using a spell with which he could always draw me to him. With a slow movement,

  • Shadows of the Past   DARKNESS TOOK HOLD OF ME

Kevin We all boarded as quickly as we could. We set off without having time to think about anything else. I wanted it to be over as quickly as possible and to see myself back at the mansion, celebrating everything. The road was empty. There was no sign of any agents. I was sure it was all down to my luck. That helped, and we arrived at the appointed place much earlier. As we neared the port, I texted Luke to let him know we would be there soon. His man was already waiting for us at the entrance to the port to check the cargo. With a little attention, he bought the signatures from the custom officers.Once Luke had received his man’s approval, we were on our way, during which he had to transfer the second installment of money. Nothing would be unloaded unless eighty percent of the amount discussed was in my accounts. The rest of the money he would transfer in front of me when the trucks arrived in front of the ship.It was a strange arrangement, but that’s how I worked. I wanted whoe

  • Shadows of the Past   ONLY HE KNEW

Olivia I was striding along, looking in all directions. Frank and I were first. Every agent behind us was as well trained as the two of us. They all knew what they had to do.The closer we got to the ship, the more we found a dead body or someone seriously injured. Our guys checked every man we came across. It only took a wave of the hand for the boys to understand each one, which way to go.Slowly, we spread out and covered the entire area. Luckily for us, the area in front of the boat was clear. We went into the boat carefully. It was deathly quiet, dangerous, I might say. With a gun in hand, we moved forward slowly but surely. We each took the other side so that we covered the entire ship. You could still hear a rasping shot that made my heart skip a beat, thinking of Frank and the rest of the boys. Unfortunately, all the madness that had been going on between the two clans had ended as ugly as could be. Many innocent young boys had lost their lives to the ambitions of tycoons who

Emily“Hello! Mrs. Emily Parker?”“Yes!” I replied, puzzled.“I’m Agent John. I regret to inform you of your husband’s passing. Please report to our office tomorrow to recognize his belongings.”“Husband’s death? Please explain, because I don’t understand what you’re talking about.” I felt my heartbeat grow stronger. The lump in my throat went down to my stomach, where it seemed to turn into a painful lump. I knew who he was talking about. It was Kevin! But dead? “Last night, there was an incident between his clan and another rival clan. They were shooting at each other and it seems one truck your husband brought to the rival caught fire from the shooting.” “Shots? Trucks? How is Olivia? Agent Olivia...” I asked, startled. “Emily, what’s wrong?” asked Mike, startled by my agitation. “Ma’am, your husband brought contraband weapons to his rival. Apparently, things between them didn’t go as they planned and arguments ensued that led to the shooting. The agent you’re asking about, I c

Emily “I’ll go with you,” Andy said. “It’s been a while since I’ve seen Olivia. Besides, I won’t leave you two alone.” “We’re going baby. We’re all going. Now it’s our turn to be with her. Olivia has given us so much of her new life that it would be selfish of us not to be there for her.”Though he felt heartily happy for Olivia, his eyes hid an ounce of sadness. He grieved for his brother’s death. He tried to hide his grief, but he didn’t succeed very well. I went over to him and hugged him. There was no point in saying anything. Sometimes words were dirty. Then it was better to let the gestures do the talking. I looked up at him, stroked his face that was both tense and happy, then laid my head against his chest. My body spoke through the warmth of my body and the love my heart offered. “I’m fine, baby. I regret his passing because he was my brother. But I’m tense because of that agent’s phone call. I keep thinking about the visit you have to make to the agency.” “Don’t worry.

  • Shadows of the Past    OUR LOVE

MikeShe clung to my neck, seeking my lips. Her gaze demanded my passionate kisses that accompanied the fiery dance she performed with mad passion. I loved when she felt it, trembling with passion and when I felt I had brought her to the highest heights of love.Like a lioness, she took off my blue shirt. She grabbed me by the waistband of my pants and whispered, moaning.“Take them off!”Her skin was so velvety and fragrant that I got aroused just touching her. My heart pounded faster and faster as her face came closer to my face. If I had been in total control of our lovemaking a moment until then, lo-and-behold, the easy aces were back in her hand.“You’re so beautiful!” I whispered in her ear.Although we had made love before, that moment was unique. I felt it would forever bind us more than we already were. The thrills of passion only she could reawaken. I owed her this happiness that I felt totally.Heat rose from my stomach to my chest and my heart sped up its beating as her li

Olivia“Emily! It’s so good to see you! I missed you so much. Are you okay? Are you still mad at me?” “Hey, why should I be mad at you, baby? God gave me a sister. I’ve been more than happy.” “Really?” “Of course! You are my beloved sister. Tell me, how are you?” If I woke up grumpy and moody in the morning, when I saw my sister’s face, I brightened. I missed her and Mike. Spending so much time with the two of them, watching their love blossom. So much time away from them was hard. I had a great time with Frank and was extremely happy, but I missed those two crazy kids. “Tell me, where’s Mike? How are you guys? How did you get along with my dad? Have you been writing? What book?” “Easy! I’ll tell you everything. Take it easy because you’ll get tired. Those two are at the door. I wanted to come in first. I wanted to see you first because I missed you so much. At first, I acted like a complete mess. I was so obnoxious, but you were always there. When I needed someone, you were alw

EMILYI still couldn’t believe everything we had experienced on the last day. It was all worth writing. I was sure it would make a wonderful book. A novel to write about my life story. It was unbelievable. Susan ruined my life, and she saved it. I was home because of her. Why had she sacrificed her life for us?“Why did you do that?” I finally asked her.“What did I do?” she asked me defiantly.“Why did you save me? You know you won’t have a quiet life with Kevin now.”“I won’t have a quiet life, anyway. My parents don’t want to see me and he’s with Carla. He’s sick of me. Besides, Carla’s willing to sacrifice even more than I have. She broke into the house of Kevin’s worst enemy just to get information for him,” she told me. “I also have pictures of her, Luke and other rivals of Kevin’s in various compromising situations and poses. When Kevin was fighting between life and death, she was partying with the rich guys and I was nursing him. But as soon as she came to her senses, she turn

MIKEI rushed over and pulled Eddy’s body off Emily. She was terrified! The crying and panic was preventing her from breathing normally. Her heart was pounding like crazy. She grabbed her torn dress and clutched it to her chest. She didn’t realize it was me next to her and not someone else. What had that bastard done to her?I tried to pick her up, but she pulled away. She was still in shock. She couldn’t realize I was there.“Baby, it’s me, Mike. You’re safe now.”She looked at me with wide eyes. When she realized I was indeed beside her, she released the wellspring of tears and threw herself into my arms.“We have to hurry. If Kevin comes back, it won’t be good for us,” Susan said from the doorway of the room.I picked Emily up and followed Susan. She knew how to sneak out of sight of Kevin’s bodyguards. The house was empty, so we went through quickly. We went down to the garage and got into a roomy station wagon. Susan was in front of the wheel and Emily and I climbed into the trun

I ran for the door, wanting to leave the room, but Kevin grabbed my arm and pulled me back. Eddy quickly came up beside him and put a hand on his shoulder. He glared at him, then turned back to me.“Stay here until I finish everything I have to say. Don’t you ever dare let me speak alone again. Besides, you’re not going anywhere. Here you’ll rot. This will be your grave,” he screamed.“I...” I was more afraid than ever, but not for myself but for what he was about to say.“I always thought you were his daughter. I took a DNA test to confirm it and that’s when I relieved myself.”“Then what do you want from me? I’m not the fruit of sin. I’m not your sister.”“You are not the fruit of sin, but you are the fruit of my childhood torment. I swore I would make you mine and give you the life I lived be

I promise I’ll talk Olivia into destroying your file,” I tried to convince him, hoping I could talk him down.“And you want me to believe you?” He asked harshly.“I’m not like you! I don’t lie!” I replied curtly.“Emily, you’re mine and you’re mine forever, whether you like it,” he continued in a calm tone.“You can do whatever you want with me, but leave them alone. Don’t touch them, they don’t answer to me,” I replied just as dryly.“Wow! Little princess claws out! My dear, you are in no position to negotiate or threaten. I remind you that you are in my territory. One command and you’re dead,” he replied sadistically.“Kevin, I’m not scared of you and you know it,” I said fiercely.“You really don’t know how to lie. • Shadows of the Past    BROKEN PROMISES

EMILYI was afraid, more afraid than ever. Kevin was so unpredictable. He proved to be more dangerous than anyone else. He came back from the dead and was ready to destroy us all. I didn’t know what would happen to me there. In the end, it didn’t matter what happened to me. All I cared about was the safety of the people I loved. He promised Mike’s release if I stood by him. I wanted peace for everyone. My life was meaningless without Mike. The closer I got to the meeting place, the harder my heart pounded. I could feel it not in my chest where it belonged, but it was rising into my throat in a big, painful lump that was sapping my strength. In front of Menfail Park, a black car with tinted windows waited for me, just as the message had said. I looked around before opening the back door and seeing that there were no familiar eyes, I quickly got in.To my surprise, there was only a driver in the car who didn’t even say hello. As soon as I got in, I got another text message:“This phone

  • Shadows of the Past   YOU ARE A BASTARD!

MIKECouldn’t believe that this bastard has so many lives, like a damn cat. I hated him. I even came to hate him more than anything else in the world. What had I done wrong to want him to see me destroyed? He kidnapped my wife and my unborn child, even though I left and withdrew from his life. I left him everything, but it still wasn’t right. What else did he want? Emily was mine. I wouldn’t leave her to anyone. I was fighting for her, as I wasn’t willing to lose her, too. Mary caused me enough pain. Then, when I saw Emily lifeless, it was cruel.I knew for sure where he was hiding, and I wasn’t afraid of him or his goons. Rather than live a panic-stricken life, then fight with my life. I was doing it for the woman I loved and for myself. I owed myself, Mary, and Emily.I raced at top speed toward the house where the bastard was holed up. I felt my blood boiling and my heart pounding with the rage I felt. When I got there, I burst through the gate, oblivious to the guards running afte

  • Shadows of the Past    I'LL KILL HIM!

EmilyAs I stepped into the driveway in front of the house, my emotions overwhelmed me. I felt like I saw Kevin in front of me with every step. I even felt like I heard him.“I should have taken Olivia up on her offer to stay at Frank’s,” I thought angrily to myself. At Olivia’s wedding, I felt like all that wound had healed, but I realized there was still a flame smoldering in the depths of my heart.Mike got to know me very well and realized right away that the past broke my peace. I feared for a second that I might be overcome with jealousy, but I soon realized that Mike was not that kind of man. To my relief, Mike realized he was the only one I loved, but that the wounds of the past still hurt. Still, he knew, or at least I hoped he knew, that no one and nothing had any place between us. I only wanted him in my life!I opened the door carefully, as I had the wedding night scene in my eyes and in my ears. I could hear, like a melody on repeat, Kevin’s words that I had heard when I

KEVINI wish I could have seen my idiot brother’s face when Eddy shot his girlfriend. Actually, his mistress was because she was still my wife.“Honey, please don’t get up. You’re still in a delicate state.” I hated being nagged, especially by Susan. She’d always been a nag who thought by throwing herself on my bed she’d have me in her clutches like a puppy. Except her plans didn’t coincide with mine, so I quickly chased her away. “You must be cautious, as you’re still weak. You’ve had a very serious accident and you haven’t fully recovered,” she continued, rousing me from my reverie.“Leave me! Get lost!” I yelled at her.“But ....” she tried to apologize in a trembling voice. I honestly had more important things to do than listen to her.“What don’t you get? I said leave!” I yelled at her again.“Kevin!” she said and walked closer to me. She tried to stroke my cheek, but I got so annoyed that I hit her across the face with all my strength. She looked at me with wide, questioning eye

  • Shadows of the Past   FINALLY GOING HOME

Emily“Thanks for everything, baby. I loved the concert so much and especially the dedication you gave me,” I told her flushed.“What? Were you still in a coma?” he asked, surprised.“I don’t know how to explain, but I could hear everything. I wanted to wake up, but something was drawing me into a distant, pure world, something dreamlike. It felt so good there, but I was sad about your suffering. I don’t know if it was all real or just dreams, but I felt present in two totally different worlds,” I tried to explain.Mike smiled gently. He struck my cheek, then lifted my left hand and kissed it. The engagement ring gleamed beautifully in the beating sunlight that streamed nonchalantly in through the large parlor window.“Never mind what it was. You’re here with me now and that’s the most important thing right now. I love you infinitely wonderful woman!” he told me.His daily care helped me recover faster than the doctors expected. They always said that love works wonders, and that I was
