EMILY

I was sorry to leave there. I felt like that was where I could live forever, but after everything that had happened, I couldn’t bear to face anyone. The wounds in my heart were so deep and painful that I felt like sometimes even my breath was hot.

I got a window seat on the plane, a secluded seat in a single seat. It was just what I needed. Just me with me and my pain. I closed my eyes, hoping to relax a little, but sleep stole me away and took me to dreamland. I don’t know how long I slept, but I woke up to one stewardess gently tapping me on the shoulder.

“Ma’am, are you alright? Have some water.”

I looked at her strangely because I didn’t understand why she woke me up. To drink the water? If I was thirsty, wouldn’t I ask for it myself?

“You were crying and sobbing loudly in your sleep and we were afraid you might be sick,” she said, waking me from the reverie I was still in.

I took a glass of water without being able to say anything else. I felt embarrassed by the

KevinI didn’t really care about the hotel chain anymore. I left Susan in charge. Honestly, she always had my back and did everything I wanted. She was always sexy and ready to spoil me the way she knew best. She was always obedient. I didn’t need to show her who was boss because she executed on the first try. “I need that contract, Susan. Do what you do best.” “You’ll get it for sure,” she replied every time. But I didn’t agree with her jealousy of Emily. She made a few scenes when she found out I was marrying her, but I had no choice. There was a young business partner who liked her very much, and it wasn’t now that I would give her to him if I set my eyes on her first. Plus, I needed the cover for my “mother-in-law” business. When I saw my partner’s interest in Emily, I knew she meant a gold mine for me. I just had to “tame” her the way I wanted. So I married her. Susan couldn’t understand my sentiment. She got a little upset at the time, but with a huge beachfront mansion i

EMILY“He was in bed with her while I....I... I was waiting for him like a fool,” I told my sister through sobs.“My dear, tell me everything so I can understand. Who was with whom? We all know about Kevin, but he left,” Gaby replied, puzzled.“No Gaby, Kevin is back. Thanks to my mother, I’ll never get rid of him. He was a crook and lured her into illegal business.”“What?” she exclaimed in astonishment. “Do you know what you’re saying there?”“Of course I know. I’ll tell you all about it at once. So, I wake up and there's Kevin, standing in my backyard. I thought I got rid of him, but I wasn’t. When I got there, a well built, handsome man who was on fire greeted me. It drew my attention to his muscular chest showing through his white shirt and his sea-blue eyes. It immediately attracted me to him, except that he honestly annoyed me. One day, lost in thought, I didn’t see that the pool had a tarp on it and I jumped in. He jumped in to save me because otherwise I’d drown. That’s when

  • Shadows of the Past    I'LL KILL HIM!

MIKEI wish I had asked Olivia why there was pain and why did the entire world laugh when I cried? Why were they glad when my heart was torn with pain? I felt as if my soul was being lost like the wave of the sea, returning each time to hug the shore, only its strength diminished with every inch it came closer to shore, until it evaporated forever. All my thoughts and dreams drifted from the magical night with Emily to the deep pain I felt like a sharp knife plunged deep into my heart. Her loss was to me like a raging sea meant to exhaust everything in its path.It bore me with the images that kept ongoing but offered nothing concrete. I kept seeing Carla talking on the phone. She’d stay on for a while and then call someone again. She was screaming at the top of her lungs, wondering what she’d do if the drug wore off. Panic took her over. She was pacing up and down my patio. At one point, I wanted to turn off the video, but Olivia read my mind and grabbed my hand, stopping me.“Wait!

EMILY“Going where? Do you have somewhere to go?” asked Clark.“I don’t know where to go. I’ll find a place where I can get away from him,” I replied.“Honey, you won’t be able to run away for the rest of your life. There must be something or someone who can help you get away from him.”“Do you think there is a guardian angel for me?” I asked, trying to joke with her. It was actually a rhetorical joke. With one eye, I was laughing and the other crying.“Yes! There is someone,” she affirmed.“Gaby, don’t do that!” came a determined woman’s voice. In that second, I felt cold shivers take over my body. It was my mother! The last person I wanted to see. She had ruined my life and I couldn’t forget that. But she was still my mother and I couldn’t hate her, but I didn’t want her around me anymore.I got up, wishing I could leave and leave her with them. I knew they had a very close relationship, and I didn’t want to change that. Except my sister grabbed me firmly by the hand and pulled me t

EMILY “You realize I’ve never had peace of mind knowing you with him, but he’s always threatened to lock us both up. I preferred to keep quiet until now but to know you well, only now I don’t know how it was better...”“Mom, you could have told me everything. You know there’s someone who can help us,” Gaby said angrily. “Trying to solve the problem yourself was the worst decision.”“I don’t need some poor bastard who’s never taken an interest in you.” Mom was downright irritated, and I was confused. What were they talking about? “I have nothing to discuss with such a man.”I could feel Gaby growing irritated. She’d never been so angry. Honestly, come to think of it, I don’t think I’d ever seen them argue.“What are you two talking about over there? I understand nothing anymore” My question had no impact on them. It was as if I was invisible and they couldn’t see me, couldn’t hear me, because they continued to argue without including me in their discussion.“You were being selfish. Yo

Emily “Gaby enough! I said no!” my mother shouted once. She screamed so loudly that little Eduard cried. “No one will look for that.....” he stopped. The little innocent angel’s tears brought me back to life. I picked him up and carried him to his father, who stood like a statue, unable to believe that his wife had the strength to face his mother. I felt innocent but also incapable of ending this war.“That’s it!” I said to the two of them. Only they weren’t willing to listen. They acted like I was just a doll they didn’t know where to put.I motioned for Clark to take the boy away. He’d witnessed enough of the rough stuff for his age. He was terrified by the screaming, which didn’t do him any good. Besides, I wanted to do Clark some good. I wanted to be alone with my mom and my sister.“That’s enough!” I yelled after everyone else in the room retreated. “I’m not an object. Look at me, I’m an adult and I can make my own decisions. Enough of your bickering. It’s pointless what you’re

Mike We headed for my car. I was so eager to find out what the hell Carla had in her head and why she did such a thing. When I pulled away from her, I was sure she had it all figured out. She even gave me she was resigned and happy for me.I was going to gouge her as hard as I could. Curiosity clouded my mind. Good luck to Olivia, who made a gesture of authority and asked for my car key.“You think I want to put my life in danger? Be calm, we’ll get there on time,” she said and made me sit in the right seat.I nervously got into the car. I slammed the door as hard as I could.“Could you be calm?” I asked her nervously as she climbed in beside me. “She’s the reason I lost Emily.”“If you don’t calm down, just know that I’m going to pull into a parking lot and stay there until you calm down. If you’re angry, you could ruin everything. Do you understand?” she said harshly. “Be careful! No one must know about the shooting. Just you and me. Clear?”The way Olivia was acting just pissed

Mike “Just calm down!” I heard Olivia’s angry voice. “Stop it! Get down from there” she yelled at me as she pulled me back.“You bitch! How could you?” I shouted at Carla after I came down after Kevin.“How could I do what? There’s nothing between us, so I can do what I want,” she replied nonchalantly.A box, which was definitely containing a necklace, jumped out at me on the nightstand next to me. I took it in my hand and opened it. It was a valuable necklace of genuine pearls.“You sold yourself for this? I can’t believe it. I trusted you too!” said I to him in disgust.“You traded me for another, so it’s my right to do what I want, isn’t it?” she asked me, smiling mockingly. She kissed Kevin, then got off the bed. She was completely naked. Although she had a sculpted body, she was nothing like Emily. Her body looked like that of a goddess. The texture of her skin was comparable to the smoothness of the most delicate rose petals. Her intoxicating scent....“Do you dream of what you

EMILYI still couldn’t believe everything we had experienced on the last day. It was all worth writing. I was sure it would make a wonderful book. A novel to write about my life story. It was unbelievable. Susan ruined my life, and she saved it. I was home because of her. Why had she sacrificed her life for us?“Why did you do that?” I finally asked her.“What did I do?” she asked me defiantly.“Why did you save me? You know you won’t have a quiet life with Kevin now.”“I won’t have a quiet life, anyway. My parents don’t want to see me and he’s with Carla. He’s sick of me. Besides, Carla’s willing to sacrifice even more than I have. She broke into the house of Kevin’s worst enemy just to get information for him,” she told me. “I also have pictures of her, Luke and other rivals of Kevin’s in various compromising situations and poses. When Kevin was fighting between life and death, she was partying with the rich guys and I was nursing him. But as soon as she came to her senses, she turn

She grabbed her torn dress and clutched it to her chest. She didn’t realize it was me next to her and not someone else. What had that bastard done to her?I tried to pick her up, but she pulled away. She was still in shock. She couldn’t realize I was there.“Baby, it’s me, Mike. You’re safe now.”She looked at me with wide eyes. When she realized I was indeed beside her, she released the wellspring of tears and threw herself into my arms.“We have to hurry. If Kevin comes back, it won’t be good for us,” Susan said from the doorway of the room.I picked Emily up and followed Susan. She knew how to sneak out of sight of Kevin’s bodyguards. The house was empty, so we went through quickly. We went down to the garage and got into a roomy station wagon. Susan was in front of the wheel and Emily and I climbed into the trun

I ran for the door, wanting to leave the room, but Kevin grabbed my arm and pulled me back. Eddy quickly came up beside him and put a hand on his shoulder. He glared at him, then turned back to me.“Stay here until I finish everything I have to say. Don’t you ever dare let me speak alone again. Besides, you’re not going anywhere. Here you’ll rot. This will be your grave,” he screamed.“I...” I was more afraid than ever, but not for myself but for what he was about to say.“I always thought you were his daughter. I took a DNA test to confirm it and that’s when I relieved myself.”“Then what do you want from me? I’m not the fruit of sin. I’m not your sister.”“You are not the fruit of sin, but you are the fruit of my childhood torment. I swore I would make you mine and give you the life I lived be

I don’t lie!” I replied curtly.“Emily, you’re mine and you’re mine forever, whether you like it,” he continued in a calm tone.“You can do whatever you want with me, but leave them alone. Don’t touch them, they don’t answer to me,” I replied just as dryly.“Wow! Little princess claws out! My dear, you are in no position to negotiate or threaten. I remind you that you are in my territory. One command and you’re dead,” he replied sadistically.“Kevin, I’m not scared of you and you know it,” I said fiercely.“You really don’t know how to lie. EMILYI was afraid, more afraid than ever. Kevin was so unpredictable. He proved to be more dangerous than anyone else. He came back from the dead and was ready to destroy us all. I didn’t know what would happen to me there. In the end, it didn’t matter what happened to me. All I cared about was the safety of the people I loved. He promised Mike’s release if I stood by him. I wanted peace for everyone. My life was meaningless without Mike. The closer I got to the meeting place, the harder my heart pounded. I could feel it not in my chest where it belonged, but it was rising into my throat in a big, painful lump that was sapping my strength. In front of Menfail Park, a black car with tinted windows waited for me, just as the message had said. I looked around before opening the back door and seeing that there were no familiar eyes, I quickly got in.To my surprise, there was only a driver in the car who didn’t even say hello. As soon as I got in, I got another text message:“This phone

MIKECouldn’t believe that this bastard has so many lives, like a damn cat. I hated him. I even came to hate him more than anything else in the world. What had I done wrong to want him to see me destroyed? He kidnapped my wife and my unborn child, even though I left and withdrew from his life. I left him everything, but it still wasn’t right. What else did he want? Emily was mine. I wouldn’t leave her to anyone. I was fighting for her, as I wasn’t willing to lose her, too. Mary caused me enough pain. Then, when I saw Emily lifeless, it was cruel.I knew for sure where he was hiding, and I wasn’t afraid of him or his goons. Rather than live a panic-stricken life, then fight with my life. I was doing it for the woman I loved and for myself. I owed myself, Mary, and Emily.I raced at top speed toward the house where the bastard was holed up. I felt my blood boiling and my heart pounding with the rage I felt. When I got there, I burst through the gate, oblivious to the guards running afte

I even felt like I heard him.“I should have taken Olivia up on her offer to stay at Frank’s,” I thought angrily to myself. At Olivia’s wedding, I felt like all that wound had healed, but I realized there was still a flame smoldering in the depths of my heart.Mike got to know me very well and realized right away that the past broke my peace. I feared for a second that I might be overcome with jealousy, but I soon realized that Mike was not that kind of man. To my relief, Mike realized he was the only one I loved, but that the wounds of the past still hurt. Still, he knew, or at least I hoped he knew, that no one and nothing had any place between us. I only wanted him in my life!I opened the door carefully, as I had the wedding night scene in my eyes and in my ears. I could hear, like a melody on repeat, Kevin’s words that I had heard when I

KEVINI wish I could have seen my idiot brother’s face when Eddy shot his girlfriend. Actually, his mistress was because she was still my wife.“Honey, please don’t get up. You’re still in a delicate state.” I hated being nagged, especially by Susan. She’d always been a nag who thought by throwing herself on my bed she’d have me in her clutches like a puppy. Except her plans didn’t coincide with mine, so I quickly chased her away. “You must be cautious, as you’re still weak. You’ve had a very serious accident and you haven’t fully recovered,” she continued, rousing me from my reverie.“Leave me! Get lost!” I yelled at her.“But ....” she tried to apologize in a trembling voice. I honestly had more important things to do than listen to her.“What don’t you get? I said leave!” I yelled at her again.“Kevin!” she said and walked closer to me. She tried to stroke my cheek, but I got so annoyed that I hit her across the face with all my strength. Emily“Thanks for everything, baby. I loved the concert so much and especially the dedication you gave me,” I told her flushed.“What? Were you still in a coma?” he asked, surprised.“I don’t know how to explain, but I could hear everything. I wanted to wake up, but something was drawing me into a distant, pure world, something dreamlike. It felt so good there, but I was sad about your suffering. I don’t know if it was all real or just dreams, but I felt present in two totally different worlds,” I tried to explain.Mike smiled gently. He struck my cheek, then lifted my left hand and kissed it. The engagement ring gleamed beautifully in the beating sunlight that streamed nonchalantly in through the large parlor window.“Never mind what it was. You’re here with me now and that’s the most important thing right now. I love you infinitely wonderful woman!” he told me.His daily care helped me recover faster than the doctors expected.
