Her shock was evident, and Maria’s eyes widened to the size of Texas.

“Oh, dear,” I frowned and looked at my dirty hand, “Looks like I missed a spot.”

With that, I wiped my hands on her clothing.

I stood my ground as she clenched her teeth towards me. I swore she would have said something, but surprisingly, she didn’t. She walked away, muttering something angrily.

Something about that told me that she wasn’t going to let it slide, but for now, I’ll celebrate my victory. I helped Maria clean up, as the poor girl was struggling to do so by herself since the other worker had left. When I was finished, I decided to take some dishes up to the stockroom on the top floor for her.

On my way up there, in that hallway that I had to admit was dead creepy, I heard sudden shouts. It came from a room from afar. The last door at the end, which was slightly opened, it seemed like two persons were arguing inside there. Cautiously, I walked up to the door and peeked in, only to note the two shocking ind

“That’s why she tried to kill me,” Nadia suddenly interjected, “I found out, and she tried to get rid of me.”I looked at Nadia as she said that yet something felt off. She was lying. The way she said it, it wasn’t as she would. I just knew somehow that it wasn’t true. I felt it. Then again, why would she lie?“Vladimir must have influenced her.”“And to be fair,” Nikolai interjected, “We all know that Rosalie wasn’t a smart girl.”Silence engulfed the room for a few moments.“Sir?” Maria’s sweet voice suddenly brought me to my attention.“Maria, take Miss Grey back to the room.” Sinister stated firmly.“Yes sir,” she smiled and took me by my slightly trembling arms out of the room. This wasn’t happening. I didn’t like feeling like this.“Miss, please have something to drink.” Maria offered as I sat on the edge of the bed in silence.“I’m fine.” Lies.“Miss Grey, please don’t do this to yourself.”I didn’t answer. I couldn’t. How could I stop this agony? How do I ease this guilt? Wil

My fear chewed me viciously, I had to get out. Without a second thought, I pushed myself off the bed and walked out of the room and out of the hall into Sinister’s room. He was asleep, shirtless on the bed, with an arm behind his head. The covers tousled gracefully low on his waist as he shifted slightly.Dear God.Was he naked?Taking a deep soft breath, I swallowed. I wasn’t going to scare myself to death back in that room. I didn’t want to be alone. Likewise, I hated the solitude. With a nervous flush, I walked around the bed and slipped myself in. I tried not to wake him up. He looked so peaceful while he was asleep, so harmless and less intimidating.I must be going mad, but I swore I saw a hint of a smile tug at the edge of his lips. No, I must be thinking too much. I was insane.Trying my best to shut my eyes, I snuggled into the sheets to keep myself warm. This man must have been a vampire or something because he slept with the AC at the lowest degree.“You’re here.” His soft

Okay, this was enough.I was too damn sick and tired of all this drama.“Is this the way you thank someone who saved your life, Nadia?” I asked angrily, “Is this your form of gratitude?”“Shut up and don’t try to lecture me. I asked you something, answer me.”I didn’t.“I swear to God, if Sin didn’t need you right now, I would have killed you already.”“Then do it, Nadia,” I scowled, “Just forget about Sinister and shoot me.”She clenched her teeth as anger washed across her features, “I’m just warning you, don’t cross your line with me. Whatever you heard, forget it, you don’t want to get on my bad side.”“You have a good side?” I scoffed.“Grey,” She growled, lowering the gun.“And that’s the problem with you people!” I hissed at her, “You treat people like shit and expect them to treat you with respect! It doesn’t work like that, Nadia. Admit it, admit how you hate not being able to live a normal life! You pretend to be perfect but you’re not! I can see it, I can see right through

In a swift fluid moment, I swung the door open to face my wonderful bastard.“Sinister!” I breathed achingly and threw my arms around him.“Becky,” he sounded a bit shocked as he pushed me in and shut the door, keeping an arm around me.I buried my face into his chest tightly.“Why the hell weren’t you answering the phone?” He asked in a soft but harsh tone.Pulling away slightly, I replied with a confused expression, “The phone?”“I’ve been trying to call your room phone. You weren’t answering.I was silent because, to God, I didn’t hear any phone sound.“You didn’t hear it?” He arched an eyebrow, “Becky? What were you doing all this time? Were you asleep?”“I wasn’t.”Sinister walked over to the sofa and sat, pinching the brink of his nose almost in frustration. I didn’t like this, I didn’t like the way he looked right now.“Are you mad at me?” My voice broke in that soft question. He snapped his face in my direction and frowned, “What do you think?”“Uhm, I don’t know.” I sighed ti

Rebecca came a few minutes late and to God, my time with her was the best I’ve had for months. She demanded to know where I had been, and I told her I was with Daniel, my brother. I wasn’t comfortable sharing the details of Sinister and his people with her. I would rather not get her involved.I didn’t know why I was feeling that way. All that happened so far, it was catching up to me. The worst part about it was that I couldn’t tell anyone about it. I couldn’t be confronted by anyone about it without putting their lives at risk. I don’t want that. Rebecca deserves her happiness without having to worry about me. We talked a lot about plenty of things, her new job, her new boyfriend, and everything in between. “So, you met him a few days after I was gone?” I asked, again, to be sure of every detail.“Hm, hm, and he has been the sweetest oh my God!” She beamed with joy as she grabbed my arm. “Beck, don’t you think it’s time you find someone? I mean, I’m not trying to push you or anyth

That man, he’s different.”“You need to breathe first.” I tried to calm her.“ I can’t calm down, Beck!” She scolded softly, “He has a gun in his jacket. At first, I thought he was an officer, or maybe he just had a license for the gun. But then I saw something really strange. Beck- I just don’t understand—““Understand what?”“He has a picture of you in his wallet.” Rebecca trembled.Fear perfumed poisonously within me. No, why would a man I don’t even know have that?Unless…Oh my God!Another Russian with a gun who might potentially want to kill me?I breathed painfully and swallowed the lump in my throat, “He’s in the Mafia.”“What?”“Sinister,” I breathlessly grabbed my phone, but there was no service still, “Give me your phone, Becca.”Within a second, she gave it to me.No signal.“We have to get out of here,” I panicked

  • Shadows of Deception    Fiance? (Sinister’s POV)

Sinister’s POV I should hate this girl. She's nothing but problems. And yet, I find it most difficult to stare away right now. Her dark hair tousled down her back and over her shoulder as she leaned against the leather interior of the limo. She pressed her head gently against it as her eyes grew wary and distant. She'd been peeling the dead skin off her fingertips subconsciously since we got in here. Were the heels really that high? I shouldn't have asked the lady for the best pair. I should have just gone with the most comfortable pair. It was my fault. But how was I to know she couldn't walk in them? How was I to know anything about her? The navy gown clung to her body effortlessly. If anything, she could easily get mistaken for an angel fallen upon the earth. God. I pushed the thought away. What the actual fuck was I saying? She was a fallen angel sure, one just like Lucifer at least. Fallen upon me to frustrate the living daylight out of me. Her face glowed under the moonligh

~^~ "Me being with you would have been dangerous, Becky. I couldn't live with myself if something happened to you because of my selfish decision." “James knew, didn't he? You were with him that day when you went after Vincelli." I strained my voice to even speak. With a pause, “Yes, but I couldn't get you involved anymore. Grey, you have this life ahead of you. It's a great life, why are you looking back?" “Because you're there." “Becky," he breathed, stunned at that, his eyes softening. “You have my heart. You’ll always do. I'm perplexed as to what you see in a monster like me but maybe that's why I'm so drawn to you. You see me as virtuously human and I feel otherwise and somehow or the other you see me as worthy and I could never understand your kindness. I love you, fuck, you make me so weak." Slipping my hand into his, I closed the space between us, pressing my body against his and my head against his chest. His heartbeat was fast and steady as he wrapped his free ha

~^~ "He was one of my closest friends. Shall I have this dance? For him?" James asks as he puts out his hand. Pleasantly, I danced with him and it almost felt as if he was trying to sober me back up before someone else asked for a dance. Dance after dance and my feet were getting sore. Many of Archer's friends seemed to somehow have 'taken a liking to me' as Archer said in a somewhat cautious manner when he pulled me aside but I assured him that they weren't my type. God even knows what my type was. Walking back to the bar, I had another drink, and because I was a "lady" and most importantly, Archer's long-lost little sister, I had to upkeep a decent reputation- wine- no beer for me. Also, I couldn't kick that one guy violently to smash his banana when he tried to slide his hand down the equator. “I’m not sure if you're trying to get drunk or sober:" A man said to me from the side. “Is both an option?" "Only if you're trying to kill yourself." He started with a soft short

*~*The weight of the world seemed to be crashing down upon me or rather tugging mercilessly at the strings that sewed together the broken pieces of my heart. The entire flight I kept to myself and the weeks that came as well.Everything felt painful and it wasn't even that time of the month. “Do you know, when it was your birthday while you were in the coma, he spent every single second of the day with you? He didn't even give a shit about work. Whatever that day was, he canceled all plans and stayed at your bedside for every second. He was in so much pain seeing you like that, Becky. I almost envied that- that brotherly affection. It was beyond me."Snapping back to her attention as I heard that I held back a tear from escaping, she was right. I was being so selfish right now. I'm grieving but it feels like I'm hurting everyone around me.“I’m sorry," I said softly trying to recollect myself and my thoughts. "Let's do something for him. I was looking for you. You said you'd come back two years ago and-""I did Becky, believe me, I did. My heart broke when I saw you in the hospital in that state I just didn't know what to do. I didn't get to you in time.""James," I said faintly, "Marc-""I know, but I keep telling myself that he's in a better place."In that second the back door near us bolted open and an awestruck Moe stood with his face paled as he saw James who released me slowly and faced him with kind eyes, "Jamie?"My voice dripping with agony brought his attention

Somehow it just felt right to go there.Walking into the airport, I went to my flight and sat at my specified seat. Taking a deep breath, shut my eyes ready for the flight to take off when I heard a familiar voice. “You forgot this."Looking up I saw Nadia arching her eyebrows while taking the seat next to me, giving me my phone."What are you doing here?" I frowned, shocked at her presence. Nadia inhaled deeply and tiredly made herself comfortable in the seat, "I honestly don't know why but somehow this trip seems to be important to you. Also, your company kind of grew on me."Smugly I smiled, “Aww, you mean you'd miss me."She rolled her eyes and asked, "So where exactly are we going'?"“I have no idea.""Becky, you can't be serious!" ~^~You never know what life is until near death hits you. And you'd never know what love is unless you lose- be it your ego, your vices, your hate, your time, or your love. That's the harsh reality of our burdened lives.I opened my eyes to feel the binding lights above me as my body drowned in the stiffening bed I rested on. A sudden chill ran across my body as I turned slightly to take note of the sun dying for the sky to breathe through the small window at the side. Where was I? Looking down at my body, I found myself decorated with hospital equipment for patients. Pushing away the oxygen mask from my face, I stumbled out the bed with an intense migraine. Why was I in a hospital? God, my head hurt. I pressed my hands against my temples as I moved across the room to the window.“Becky? Oh my God! Nurse!" "Because Becky is a dog you can just take for a walk to meet a notorious drug-lord slash killer, and send back." I smiled, “But don't worry, I'm going I'm going, no need to rush for my presence boys. It was a beautiful sight I had to admit."Isn't it lovely, Kitty?" The man began in a rough yet smooth voice, “You loved to come up here and look at the stars with me.
