Chapter 2
little-angel POVAs the eve of the Shadowboom Unveiling approached, my excitement mingled with a sense of worry. I could hardly contain my anticipation, but a nagging fear crept in, making me wonder if I could endure the wait any longer. The burning desire to discover my destined mate consumed me."Mom, did you hear that?" I asked, jolting awake as the whinnies of the horses pulling Full-moon's cart echoed through the house.Sky-pearl, my mother, stirred beside me. "Yes, it sounds like your father is back," she replied, her voice filled with sleepy confusion. We hurriedly stumbled out of bed and made our way to the front door, desperate to see Full-moon, my lumberjack father, after his long day of selling orisier wood in the neighboring villages."I'll put the horses in the stable," Full-moon grumbled, his face etched with a perpetual scowl, as he walked past us.I couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment. Was it too much to ask for a warm greeting from my father? Nevertheless, as Sky-pearl my mother opened the door, we both tried to hide our grievances and she asked him how the sales had gone."Hey honey, how did the sales go today? Any luck?""How do you think they went?" Full-moon snapped, slumping down on the worn-out sofa. "I'm tired, the prices were lousy, and the villagers barely paid attention. It's always the same." Looking directly at me, he said, "I regret that Sky-pearl, your mother, did not give me a boy instead of you, little-angel, a pathetic girl. I doubt I will be able to support our family for a long time." His words shattered me, leaving me broken and vulnerable.Tears welled up in my eyes as I confronted him, my voice trembling with emotion. "Why would you say something so hurtful? Am I not enough for you? Don't I deserve your love and support, regardless of my gender?"My mother, standing beside me, pleaded with him gently. "Please, don't say that again. Your words carry immense weight, and they deeply affect our little-angel. We need to stick together as a family and support one another through thick and thin."My father looked at her with contempt then looked away, still nervous.I sighed inwardly, realizing that his bad mood was not going to lift anytime soon. But I couldn't let his negativity dampen my spirits."Do you think the Shadowboom Unveiling will bring us some good luck, Father?" I asked, hoping to lighten the atmosphere. My father raised an eyebrow, his scowl momentarily fading. "Luck, eh? I don't believe in such things. But who knows? Maybe it will surprise us this time," he said casually. However, deep down, I knew he secretly hoped that Moongoddess would choose me a rich mate during the Shadowboom Unveiling scheduled the next day.Today was the Shadowboom Unveiling, an event that had all the young eighteen-year-old werewolves of our pack waited impatiently. As Sunshine, Sunrise and I walked through the village, we could feel the collective joy in the air. The townsfolk were buzzing with excitement, exchanging playful banter and teasing. It seemed like everyone had a stake in this ceremony, as if the outcome would somehow affect the whole village. We couldn't help but tease each other about who would be assigned as our mates."Nervous, Little-Angel?" Sunshine nudged me playfully. "I bet your mate will be the richest of them all."I laughed nervously, hoping deep down that my mate would indeed be wealthy enough to please my parents. But more importantly, I wanted him to be handsome, kind and above all humble. As the evening approached, we gathered around a massive wood fire, the flames flickering and dancing in the cool night air.I sat with my friends, Sunshine and Sunrise, who shared similar apprehensions about their future mates. Sunshine, always the optimistic one, said, "I hope my mate is someone who loves adventure just like me. I want to explore the world together, running wild under the moonlight!"Sunrise, on the other hand, was more practical. "I just want a mate who will be loyal and supportive," she said. "Someone who understands my dreams and will stand by my side through thick and thin.""I'm sure we'll each find our perfect match, guys. Just wait and see," Sunshine said with a reassuring smile. As we continued discussing our hopes and fears, the moment we had all been waiting for arrived. An elder, a strong and dignified figure, stepped forward, signaling the start of the ceremony. The village fell silent as he began to speak."Tonight, we gather around the sacred fire to witness the Unveiling of our destined mates," the elder declared, his voice carrying through the crowd. "May this fire represent the eternal flame of love and unity within our pack."As we awaited the moon goddess's unveiling, a sudden thunderclap pierced the air, signaling her magnificent presence. In a breathtaking display of splendor, she descended upon us, her ethereal aura captivating our senses, her radiance shone brightly in the darkness. The whispers of the crowd grew hushed as all eyes turned towards her.The moon goddess greeted us with her ethereal voice, "Greetings, my beloved pack. It is with heavy heart that I that I note the passing of your Alpha , Alpha Cyrius , However, I am here tonight to unveil the new Alpha that I have chosen for you all."The crowd listened intently, holding their breath, as whispers filled the air. Who would she choose to lead our pack?As the tension mounted, the moon goddess's gaze fell upon Sone-heart, and a collective gasp rippled through the pack. The moon goddess continued, "After careful consideration, I have chosen Stone-heart to be your new Alpha."I couldn't believe it. Stone-heart was the most arrogant and selfish wolf in our pack, and the thought of him being our leader made me sick. But everyone else around me erupted in applause, hailing the new Alpha.Stone-heart stood up from his seat, preening in his newfound power as if he was born to lead.I rolled my eyes nervously, wondering how our pack would fare under his rule. As he caught my gaze, he gave me a teasing smile, as if to say, "See what you're missing by pushing me away."Sone-heart approached the moon goddess, a smug smile playing on his lips. "Thank you, Moon Goddess," he said, his voice laced with pride. "I will lead our pack to greatness."The moon goddess placed her hand upon Sone-heart's shoulder, granting him the authority he coveted. The cheers and acclamation from the pack filled the clearing, celebrating this new era under his leadership.I rolled my eyes nervously, annoyed by his arrogance and the attention it garnered.I couldn't help but feel disappointed by the moon goddess's choice. But as she spoke, it became clear why she had chosen him."Stone-heart has proven himself valiant and courageous. He will lead this pack to success and glory." Moon goddess said.Despite my doubts, I knew that we had to give him a chance. For the sake of our pack, we all had to rally behind our new Alpha and support him in his leadership.I watched as the moon goddess began revealing the mates of the people . Some were overjoyed, smiling and embracing their newfound partners. Others, however, shed tears of disappointment as they realized they weren't matched with who they had hoped for. The air was filled with mixed emotions, but I couldn't tear my eyes away from the scene unfolding before me.Amongst the chaos, I noticed Sunshine, my closest friend and sister-like confidant, being rejected by her attribute mate. A pang of sorrow shot through my heart as I saw her tears fall freely. Trying to offer comfort, I took her trembling hands in mine and whispered, "It's going to be okay, Sunshine. You're stronger than this."Sunrise, her twin sister, knelt beside us, her soothing voice reaching our ears. "Don't worry, Sunshine. We'll find a way through this together." I admired the deep bond that radiated between them, and it gave me hope for my own situation. As the moon goddess finished her task, she began to depart . Desperation welled up within me, and I couldn't let her leave without an explanation. Gathering my courage, I called out to her, my voice quivering. "Wait! Please, Moon goddess, you forgot me!"To my surprise, she turned back towards me, curiosity glinting in her eyes. "You, little one? I thought I had completed my task. What can I do for you?"Her response filled me with both hope and confusion. "I'm still without a mate. Can you please help me find mine?" I pleaded, my voice barely above a whisper. The moon goddess regarded me with an enigmatic expression before uttering words that made little sense to me. "Seek the light that shines upon the darkest shadows, where knowledge and acceptance converge. There, where lifelines intertwine, you shall find the key that unlocks your destined union."Confusion clouded my mind, But before I have time to ask a question she leaves.I was trying to keep myself together after finding out that I didn't have a mate. I could feel everyone's eyes on me, pitying me. It didn't help that my parents were angry with me and rejected me as their child."Little-angel, how could you embarrass our family like this?" my mother said coldly."I didn't do anything wrong," I replied defensively."It's a shame that our pack has a member without a mate," my father added.Sunrise and Sunshine didn't say anything, but I could feel their distance and see their pitying looks. It felt like everyone had turned their backs on me.I went back home, feeling more alone than ever. But then, I saw Stone-heart and my parents sitting together, laughing and chatting. I couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy and sadness. Stone-heart had always loved me, but I never paid attention to him. And now, he was the alpha of the pack and had the power to make me his mate."Little-angel, come here," Stone-heart said as he noticed me.I approached them, feeling anxious and scared."I know we've never been close, but I've loved you for a long time, Little-angel," Stone-heart said, his eyes softening.I didn't know what to say, but I felt my heart racing. I knew that my parents would want me to accept his proposal, but I couldn't force myself to be with someone I didn't love."It's okay, Stone-heart. I need some time to think," I said, trying to sound confident.Once we were alond, my parents were overjoyed when they found out that Stone-heart, the powerful new Alpha, had decided he wanted to make me his mate. They couldn't understand why I didn't share their excitement."But Little-Angel, Stone-heart is everything a girl could desire!" my mother exclaimed, her eyes shining."He's strong, influential, and he loves you," my father added, a touch of disappointment in his voice.I looked at them with a heavy heart, trying to explain. "But father, mother, I don't love him. How can I agree to spend the rest of my life with someone I don't love?"My parents shook their heads in disbelief. "Love will come, Little-Angel," my mother insisted. "You can't pass up this opportunity for a brighter future."Feeling the weight of their expectations crushing me, I reluctantly gave in to the pressure from my parents. As night fell, my mother prepared me for the next day when I would become Stone-heart's mate. Deep down, though, doubts and unease churned within me like a storm. That night, as the moon illuminated the forest outside the window, a decision formed within me. I couldn't go through with this. I had to run away. Leave everything I knew behind to find my own happiness. With determination fueling my every action, I packed a bag with supplies, ensuring every movement was as silent as the night itself, so as not to disturb my slumbering parents. As I crept out of our room, my heart raced with anticipation and a mix of fear and excitement. In the first light of day, the guards were hot on my trail, their presence felt even through the dense foliage of the forest. Adrenaline surged through my veins as I pushed myself harder, my footsteps a chorus of determination. They were growing closer, their shouts echoing ominously through the trees.Just as they were on the brink of capturing me, my foot slipped over the edge of a hidden crevasse. Panic enveloped me as I tried to regain my balance, but it was too late. Darkness swallowed me as I tumbled into the depths, my consciousness slipping away.Chapter 3:little-angel POVI groaned as I slowly opened my eyes, only to find myself surrounded by towering houses and a swarm of people giving me strange looks. Confusion washed over me like a tidal wave. What on earth was happening? I couldn't comprehend why everyone was dressed in crazy costumes. It felt like I had fallen into a bizarre alternate reality. What pack had I fallen into?I walked hesitantly through the bustling street, unsure of where to go or what to do. People rushed past me, bumping into me without a care in the world.Another person dressed in a strange black dress bumped into me and I fell, hitting my head on the ground, which was weird, painted gray and quite hard, where had the true ground gone? As I stood up and tried to balance, another person bumped into me. " Get off the weird girl! You're blocking the way." She screamed as she walked through me.Humph ! I couldn't help but wonder why everyone was in such a hurry. I mean, why the rush? And what was with t
Chapter 4As I sat on the public bench, my stomach growled loudly. I looked around at the mouthwatering food stalls nearby, my eyes drawn to the tantalizing aromas. With hopeful anticipation, I approached the first food vendor and asked, "Excuse me, sir. Do you have anything to eat?"The vendor gave me a disdainful look and replied, "Sorry, kid. We're all sold out for today. Maybe try your luck somewhere else."Feeling a pang of disappointment, I moved on to the next vendor. "Hello, ma'am. Could I please have something to eat? I'm really hungry."But she simply shook her head and said, "I'm sorry, but we're closing up. Come back tomorrow."I went back to sit on the public bench, I couldn't understand why everyone was pushing me away like the plague. Was it because I was young? Or was it my disheveled appearance? My thoughts were interrupted by the sudden whistles and barking of a small dog , I watched the reckless canine dart dangerously between the passing four-wheeled vehicles. I wa
Chapter 5: I stood there, stunned and at a loss for words. The boy, approached me menacingly, and fear coursed through my veins.Just then, Sandy appeared with a well-dressed man and woman in tow. They must be her parents, as Sandy looked like a younger version of her mother and her father had a stern aura about him. Sandy quickly came to my defense.Sandy's eyes filled with a plea for understanding. "Christ, you need to calm down," she said, her voice steady despite Christ's threatening presence. "She's not here to harm us."Ah! So this boy was called Christ and he was her brother! Noted ! "Who the hell is she, Sandy?" Christ demanded, his gaze turning back to me."She's the girl who saved Coco," Sandy answered, indicating their dog who was sitting calmly by my side. "She risked her life to save him."Christ glared at me with disdain, clearly unimpressed. A man and woman who had entered with Sandy, presumably her parents, exchanged glances. The woman looked at me with a grateful s
Chapter 6:I was abruptly awakened by a loud knock on my bedroom door. Groggily, I stumbled out of bed, feeling disoriented and unsure of where I was. The events of the past few days seemed to jumble up in my mind, making it difficult to grasp reality. A sharp pang of pain shot through me as I remembered my parents, but before I could fully process my emotions, I heard the butler's voice, demanding to be let in." Miss, open the door at once !" In a rush, I hurried towards the door, my heart pounding with anxiety. I flung it open, revealing James standing there with a disappointed expression on his face. His reprimanding words stung as they cut through the early morning silence."You won't last long in this house if you keep sleeping so late, Miss," he scolded sternly."Gosh, I'm really sorry," I mumbled, guilt and frustration mingling in my voice. "I promise I'll fix my sleeping habits."Reluctantly, James instructed me to join Willow, the housemaid, in the laundry room."Willow wil
Stunned by the venomous words that spilled from Christopher's lips, I couldn't help but draw a comparison between him and Stone-heart—a cold and heartless individual. But despite his unpleasant demeanor, I found Christopher strangely attractive, even more so than Stone-heart. Lost in my musings, my beloved white dog Coco interrupted my thoughts with a series of urgent barks. He tugged at my work uniform, his fangs gently grazing against the fabric."Heeey Coco," I greeted, Overwhelmed with the love I felt for him, I crouched down to meet his level. His fangs grazed against my work uniform as if urging me to follow him outside."How are you doing, buddy?" I asked, looking into his bright, happy eyes.Coco responded with an eager wag of his tail, as if saying, "I'm doing great!" His bright eyes filled with happiness. Before I could reach out to pet him, James, arrived on the scene. He swiftly scooped up Coco, cradling him in his arms, and gestured for me to follow him. "Come on," he said,
The next day, I was in the midst of my housekeeping duties when James the butler approached me, his voice laced with a mixture of urgency and hesitation. "Little-angel, could you please do me a favor and climb the ladder to clean that painting on the wall?" he asked.I hesitated for a moment, feeling a hint of apprehension flutter in my stomach. "Um, sure, James. I'll give it a shot," I replied, trying to sound more confident than I felt. I grabbed a ladder and gingerly climbed up, clutching tightly onto my small bucket filled with soapy water and a sponge. As I made my way up, fear coursed through my veins. One wrong move, and I could come crashing down, making an even bigger mess than before. I let out a small groan, caught between my determination to do a good job and my uneasiness with the height. Suddenly, I heard footsteps approaching, and my heart skipped a beat.It was Christopher, striding down the hall toward me with his usual air of authority. I couldn't help but feel a mix
Willow's eyes immediately landed on the mud-covered dress of Mrs. Miller, and her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "Little-Angel, why is Mrs. Miller's dress covered in mud?" she asked, her voice laced with concern."I... I didn't mean to," I stammered, my voice trembling. "It was an accident. I'm so sorry!"Willow's expression grew more incredulous. "You expect me to believe this was an accident?" she snapped, her tone cutting through me."It really was! I swear!" I pleaded, tears welling up in my eyes.A mischievous smile danced on Willow's lips as she bent down and began to sweet-talk Coco, the fluffy white dog who had become attached to the soiled dress. "Come on, Coco, let go," she cooed, trying to coax the dog away. But Coco resisted, holding onto the dress with unwavering loyalty. Panic surged through me; Coco's determination only added to my worry. "Please, Willow," I begged, my voice filled with desperation. "Don't tell anyone about this. I'll do anything."Willow's eyes narrow
Sandy leaned in closer, as if about to divulge a juicy secret. "But just between us, I can't stand her."My heart sank, as if someone had snatched the breath out of my lungs. I struggled to conceal my confusion, not wanting Sandy to know how Christopher's happiness with Daisy was crushing my own dreams.Sandy, sensing my inner turmoil, reached out and patted my hand sympathetically. "I know it's tough, but trust me, I have my reasons to dislike Daisy. She's never been nice to me."An idea suddenly sparked in my mind, causing a sly grin to spread across my face. "Well, Sandy, if you do it, I'll also play my part of pranks on her," I confessed, hoping to blend into Sandy's mischievous world. Her eyes widened in surprise, followed by an impish giggle that filled the air. "Oh, you little troublemaker! I like you even more now!" we both laughed, momentarily forgetting our worries. As the conversation steered towards Christopher, I couldn't help but reminisce about our first encounter. I de

50Little-angel POVThinking quickly, Avery rushed over and attempted to salvage the dessert, only to find it was beyond saving. Frustration etched across her face, she turned to me, anger evident in her eyes."How could you have made such a mistake? How could you leave the dessert outside the fridge?" she exclaimed, her voice filled with disappointment."But... But... I put in the fridge." I stuttered confused . "How is that possible? You didn't leave the dessert out of the fridge, did you?" Avery exploded in anger.I was taken aback by Avery's sudden anger, feeling confused and hurt. "I... I'm sure I put it in the fridge before I joined you in the dining room," I stammered, desperately trying to defend myself.Avery's frustration grew, and she couldn't understand how the dessert ended up back in the same spot she had left it. "So, what? Did it magically find its way out? Is that what you're saying?" she scoffed, her tone filled with disbelief.Feeling accused and unsure how to exp
49Little angel POVWhen Avery returned to the kitchen, her expression changed. Frustration lined her face as she surveyed the lack of progress. "Little-angel, what's going on here?" she asked sternly. "We don't have much time, and we can't afford to make mistakes. Do you really want us to be fired?"I quickly realized my mistake and apologized, feeling a pang of guilt. "I'm sorry, Avery. I got distracted. It won't happen again," I promised.Avery sighed, her frustration easing slightly. "Listen, I've been working in this house for many years, and believe me, there have been situations between Mr. and Ms. Miller that were worse and more embarrassing than what you've experienced with Mr. Oliver and Mr. Christopher," she said, her voice filled with wisdom. "You need to pull yourself together. We can't let our personal troubles affect our work."Her words hit me like a punch to the gut, and I couldn't help but nod, determined to do better. With renewed focus and determination, we quickly
48Little-angel POV.At that precise moment, there was a knock on the door, and I quickly jumped from the bed, eager to see who it was. James stood at the entrance, his face stern and disapproving. "What are you doing here?" he scolded me. "Avery is almost done, and you're still in bed!" I tried to explain, "I have a small headache, James. I was just resting to recover."He shook his head, clearly unimpressed. "That's not the point. Mr. Christopher is receiving a guest, and he insisted that you be available for service. I highly doubt he will understand your headache excuse." He said then turned and leave.Feeling a mix of frustration and exhaustion, I let out an exasperated sigh. Sandy squeezed my hand in support as I made the decision to leave her alone in my room and join Avery in the kitchen. As I made my way there, I couldn't help but wonder who this famous guest of Christopher's could be. The curiosity gnawed at me.Entering the kitchen, I found Avery busy with her tasks. She l
47Little-angel POVAs I stood there in my dress, the door suddenly swung open. I immediately recognized Sandy's face, and it was clear that she was troubled. She hurried in and with an exasperated sigh she casually zipped up the back of my dress, struggling to find the right words. "I can't believe the plan failed," she finally muttered. " I just don't get it! How did the plan fail? I talk to Christopher, and he is still furious. But don't worry, he'll get over it, let's just give him some time."Confused, I questioned her, "But Sandy, how did you even manage to face Christopher directly after everything? How did you just look into his eyes?" I asked curious. "I mean, it's quite embarrassing, considering you're the one who came up with this ridiculous prank. Honestly, I knew it was going to turn into a disaster, but I followed your lead because I trusted you.Sandy, now visibly irritated, snapped back at me, "Stop placing all the blame on me just because it didn't work out! You're no
46Little-angel POV I felt my heart pounding harder and harder, the sound echoing in my ears."I... I..." I stuttered, my mind racing to find the right words. But before I could gather my thoughts, Christopher, with an air of arrogance, interjected, "Don't worry, Oliver. I'll handle this." He crossed his feet and settled comfortably in the chair, a smug smile playing on his lips. My embarrassment intensified, knowing that Christopher was about to take control of the situation."Little-angel here has decided not to leave with you," Christopher declared, his tone dripping with superiority. Oliver, still trying to process the information, responded, "I already knew that. What does it have to do with you?" Frustration etched itself on Oliver's face, his words laced with a hint of irritation.Christopher turned to me, surprise evident in his eyes. "When did you tell me about this change of mind? And why?" he inquired, his voice sharp with curiosity. My stomach churned, and beads of sweat
45Little-angel POVAs we anxiously waited for Christopher's return, I found myself fidgeting nervously in my seat in the secluded garden where Sandy and I were hiding. Sandy, on the other hand, sat calmly, a sly smile playing on her lips as she glanced at me.Minutes felt like hours, and finally, Christopher's car pulled through the gate, indicating his arrival. My heart raced with anticipation. Would the plan we had concocted work?Sandy couldn't contain her excitement, her eyes gleaming with mischief. "He's here, Angie, he's finally here! Just wait for him to go to his room, and then you follow him."But doubts lingered in my mind, weighing heavily on my conscience. "Sandy, I'm starting to think this is getting out of hand. We should really consider coming clean."Sandy locked eyes with me, her expression softening. "Please, just trust me, alright? We've come this far, and I promise everything will work out."Her words held a glimmer of hope, and though reluctant, I nodded, willing
44Little angel POV As I stepped into the hallway, I found myself questioning where I found the courage to assume such a big lie. But then, I remembered how disappointed Christopher had seemed when I thought he was begging me, and fear crept in. What if he had just said those words to save face and not appear weak in front of me? The consequences of that lie began to weigh heavily on my mind, but I quickly pushed those thoughts aside. Nothing significant would come out of it anyway. He said he wasn't serious when he was supposedly begging me, so there was no need to make a big deal out of it. It was all going too far.Taking a deep breath, I wiped away my tears, determined to find solace and support in Sandy. I made my way to her room without bothering to knock, my emotions still running high. As I entered, I found her wrapped in a cozy blanket, fully engrossed in her favorite werewolf series, "Moonlight's Embrace." The room was dimly lit, the soft glow of the TV casting flickering s
