Chapter 6: Home

Amari POV:

"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Amari" Susie the nurse sings as she comes into my room with a cupcake with a candle on top .

"Thank you , Susie" taking the cupcake I make a wish 

"Your finally leaving us after 7 years. Oh I'm going to miss you my little schizo" she squeezes me tight 

"Yeah yeah" rolling my eye's I pull away from the hug 

"Well you get packing I'll see you at the front desk at 10am" I nod my head and she leaves me to be.

I don't know I have mixed feelings about this place . I mean I'm going to miss all the people in here but I will not miss the amount of medication and injections I had to endure. I no longer depend on the injections which means that I only take my prescribed meds. Maybe 1 or 2 pills a day to control my anxiety but that's not that bad .

I packed my stuff even though it only took me five minutes I mean I only have a phone and the clothes I first came here wearing which isn't much

Looking at the watch it's 8:55. Aghhh so much time to pass . Bella left a long time ago and I haven't exactly made any friends cause people have been afraid of me since my killing spree day's. Which wasn't my fault just putting it out there .

I am not my condition. My condition does not define me.

Sighing I lay on my bed staring at the ceiling in absolute silence something I'm not used too cause my brain always has something to say .

I want to go home and take a shower with hot water cause I have endured showering in lukewarm water for 7 years and I'm done. I have had it like hell all they have to do is pay the electricity bill .

"What got you all frustrated" looking up I see it's Doctor Katherine 

"Uhm nothing"I say as she sits on the edge of my bed playing with the hem of my blanket

"Is something wrong" I ask her , sitting up straight

"No ...it's just I really hope you've made progress over the past years cause when you leave these doors there's going to be a lot of triggers and I need you to fight them. Most importantly pull yourself together, okay" she comes close to squeeze my shoulder 

"I'm going to try my level of best " and that is not a lie 

"Good cause I never want to see you back here , okay, unless your here to tell me your married and pregnant or , just any good news." she smiles sweetly and I chuckle

"That's not happening any time soon though" I say tucking my hair behind my ears

"Well of course, I'm talking futuristically " she chuckles 

"I'm going to miss you" and my big girl act finally crumbles and I hug her 

"I'm going to miss you too, sweetie" she brushes my hair away from my face

"You be good , okay" she says while cupping my face , I nod and she kisses my forehead. I truly am going to miss her . She's truly been the mom I needed in this place. Glancing at me one more time ,she stands to leave . Looking at the clock it's 9:30am. I am in no rush to be home , I mean I haven't spoken to my parents in 7 years . It's going to be really awkward but they'll get used to it . They have no choice but to get used to me cause at the end of the day ,they didn't raise me . I was raised by nurses and doctors like a lab rat. 

Looking at the clock again it's 9:50am. Getting up and grabbing my stuff I start making my way to the front desk , going pass the cafeteria and the game room. I have a sad smile on my face because I'm really going to miss the memories bad and good .

"Hey bitch" ,looking up I see it's Bella 

"Ahhhhhh , you came" I run towards her 

"Of course I wouldn't miss it for the world" she says. Bella has dyed her hair black and now has tattoos.

"You look like a badass" I say pulling away from the hug

"What about you " I twirl around

"For someone who has been caged , you sure as hell look good Amari"

"Oh this " and we both chuckle , looking behind her I freeze

"Hi honey", mom and dad stand by the front desk anxiously. Looking like new born parents when they come to pick up a baby from a orphanage

"Hi" I say coldly. My mom comes forward to hug me and I take a step back. Frowning she looks at me

"You need time , I understand" tears welled up in her eyes

"Yeah" I say quietly

"Well uhm let's get going" my dad says clearing his throat

"Can Bella sleepover " I ask

"Uhm" mom turns to look at dad and he nods

"Yeah ,sure honey" turning around I grab Bella's hand . We head towards the car , giggling and laughing. It's been awhile since I've smelled fresh air well beside the smell of gas and that but it's beautiful. We climb into the car and dad starts driving

"Happy birthday munchkin" my dad says looking straight ahead

"Happy birthday honey" my mom says turning around to face me and handingme a box

"What's this" I say looking at her

"Open it dumbass" Bella nudges me with her elbow

"Thanks mom" I say forcing a smile . I open the box and it's a new cellphone

"We figured that you lost your cellphone since you haven't answered our messages" yeah sure lost... more like left on delivered. I just start awkwardly laughing I mean what can I say

"Oh honey ,Jason is at home waiting for you"...Jason like my childhood best friend Jason?

"I'm sorry what" I yell almost making dad crash the car

"You weren't supposed to say anything Elizabeth" my dad says holding the steering wheel

"Oh my bad , I'm sorry. I'm just soo excited" , the car ride goes quiet and my mom turns around to face the front again .

10 minutes go by and we eventually drive into the drive way , like promised Jason stands on my doorstep holding a bouquet of flowers. We all exit the car but Bella and I walk slower than my parents. They open the door and they greet Jason. He stands there awkwardly fixing his shirt and checking his breath

"Is that Jason" Bella whispers to me

"Sadly yes" I roll my eye's. He hasn't really judged much just grew into his body I guess 

"Is he like your...."

"No his my ex guy best friend. I don't even know why his here" we finally reach the doorstep and we stop in front of Jason 

"Well I'm going to head inside" Bella says hastily walking inside and I glare at her

"Hey , Amari" his voice has gotten a lot deeper over the years.

"Hi , Jason" I coldly say and he clears his throat

"Happy birthday" he hands me the flowers and I take them

"Thanks"

"Well uhm we have school on Monday...do you maybe wanna ride with me" he scratches the back of his hand putting his hands in he's pocket

"I don-"

"She would love too" my mom comes out of nowhere cutting me off and I put on a fake smile

"Yeah" I say grinding my teeth and he just smiles back

"Well bye I put my number on your phone so uhm you can message me" I watch him retreat into his car and I wave goodbye. Like hell I'll message him. I walk into the kitchen throwing the flowers into the trash

"Hey , what's wrong with you" my mom says picking the flowers out of the trash

"I don't like them" I shrug

"But why they are so beautiful" she says smiling and taking them out of the trash

"Well you can have them then" I pick up an apple and bite into it whilzt walking out of the kitchen 

"Come Bella I need you to help me redecorate my room" I start walking up the stairs

"No need Jason has already picked it out for you and it's beautiful" looking at my dad  I freeze.

"What the fuck" I hastily rush up the stairs  barging into my room. Looking around my mouth drops. This fucker does not know me and it shows.

Pink and white is the aesthetic here . Pink comforter , pink pillows , pink desk ,pink carpet ,white walls , white chair and white .

"Wow" Bella breathes out

"Tell me about it" I roll my eyes walking in

"His head over heels about you" she chuckles as I flop onto my new bed 

"Aghhh fuck I hate him" I groan into my new pillow

"Don't be too hard on him" I just roll my eye's at her statement.

I get up and head into my bathroom to take a quick shower .

"Hey , Amari you have a message " Bella shouts from the room

"What does it say" I wrap the towel around me and I dry my hair off

"Uhm it says Happy birthday" looking up I turn to face her

"Does it say unknown number" and she nods

"Oh my gosh , I've been getting that message for the past 7 years it's getting weird" I walk towards my dressing table

"Do you think it's the same person we went to voicemail with last time " she chuckles staring at my phone screen

"Who actually knows" looking at my drawers I have no clothes

"Unbelievable" I close the drawer harshly

"What's wrong " Bella's head shoots up

"They didn't get me any clothes" I huff out

"Well I mean they didn't know whether you'd be fat or skinny sooo" she shrugs . I go to her and I take my cellphone

"What are you doing"

"I'm texting Jason to come pick us up I need to go to the mall "

"And with what money" she says raising an eyebrow

"My mom and dad left my credit card on the desk here so I'm using it "

"Are you sure"

"Yeah I mean why would they leave it here if I can't use it " I continue to text Jason

"Okay done , he said he'll be here in the next 10 minutes " I place the phone down

"Uhm Amari what are you going to wear" she tries to hold back a chuckle

"Exactly what I'm wearing right now " I smirk

"No" she bursts out laughing

"I'm being dead serious "

"I dare you " she challenges me. Jokes on her I love a challenge

10 minutes go by and Jason texted me to come out . Climbing out my bedroom window I walk towards him

"What the hell are you wearing" he shouts

"You renovated my room but didn't get me any clothes dumbass", he scowls at himself. Getting in the car I sit in the front and Bella sits at the back

"You can't go in like that " he says starting the car and pulling out of the driveway

"And why not", his jaw clenches at that 

"Maybe cause I don't want anyone seeing you vulnerable" he tightens his grip on the wheel . I look at him and I scoff  you see this is why I hate him . He tries soo hard to act like his my boyfriend but he doesn't get... it no matter how hard he tries I'll never like him.

We eventually pull up to the Mall and he turns to face me

"Can I give you my shirt "

"Sure whatever," he starts taking off his shirt and I have to say he has a nice six pack

"Damn" Bella whispers out and I turn to her. She just chuckles. He hands me his shirt and he continues to stare

"Well turn around" I raise my eyebrows at him

"Oh shit ,sorry" he turns around and I change into his shirt

"All done " he turns back and smiles

"Your beautiful, honestly" he says admiring me

"Thanks buddy" I awkwardly hit his shoulder and I exit the vehicle. There's one thing I didn't think over . I am not wearing any underwear and because of that a gash of wind cane out of nowhere blowing the shirt up

"Damn pretty lady" some crackhead shouts over to me and I swear at myself . Bella and I walk into the mall and we earn ourselves looks from a few people 

"What the fuck are they staring at" I whisper to Bella

"You" she chuckles back

"What do you mean" and she rolls her eyes

"You are beautiful....like model gorgeous"

"That's a bit far fetched but thank you"

We walk into Victoria secret first and I start picking out some underwear

"Girl I really hope your not picking out those granny panties" Bella quizzes looking down at the underwear in my hand and I frown because I like these they look comfortable 

"What do you mean their cute" she snatches them away from me

"Bitch if you look like us , we don't do cute , we do sexy " she hands me a pair of black lacey underwear

"I feel like that's abit too much" and she rolls her eye's

"Okay then I tried" she leaves to go to another isle and I contemplate whether I should or not. Fuck it I pick up the black lace and I put it into my basket . Choosing a few other colors like purple, pink and red .I head towards the bra section and a nice sparkly lingerie catches my eyes .

"Oh my gosh get it " Bella shouts from behind me and I jump up startled

"Should I " I ask snickering 

"Girl yes", she goes to look for my size . She hands it to me and I smile . This is soo exciting. We go towards the counter and the male cashier smiles 

"Hi ladies" the cute guy says. Weird for a guy to be working here but we don't judge we respect the hard work

"Hi" I hand him my basket and he starts scanning each item

"The total is 182 Euros" I had him my card. He swipes it and he hands me my shopping bag

"Enjoy the rest of your day "

"Thank you" I turn to leave and he stops me

" Hey uhm can I perhaps take you out" he says running his hand through his hair . Squinting to see his name badge I look back up at him .

"See you around , Antonio" I smile and I walk out

"Ouuu, that was low-key badass" Bella shrieks grabbing me and I chuckle. The outiside world isn't so bad so far. It just reminds me of the bigger version of the facility 

We walk towards H&M and I head towards the dress section.

"Ouuu this is cute " I say holding a skin tight red dress with a slit on the side

"It is" Bella says and I put it in my basket 

I got about 10 dresses , 12 tops and 5 pairs of jeans in my basket now. Exhausted I sit on one of the chairs

"I got you these pajama's" looking I see she's holding super cute one's

"I literally forgot, thank you " I put them in my basket and we go towards the checkout

"Hi Ladies" the lady says

"Hi" I hand her the clothes. She scans and she packages them

"That will be 202 Euros" I hand her my card and she swipes it . She hands me the bag and the card. I thank her and we walk out of the store. Bella and I head back into the parking lot. Opening the doors , Jason sits up

"Jeez , what took soo long "

"Well I had to make sure I got clothes" I hand Bella the bags so she can put them in the backseat with her.

"Look what she got " turning around we see that Bella has my pink lace in her hand shaking it around. Grabbing it from her I stuff it back in the bag. Jason looks at me and he shifts in his seat .

" What " I raise my eyebrow at him

"Uhm nothing" he turns to face the front , fixing his jean.

He pulls out the parking lot and we head back home .

Pulling into the driveway I thank him. We grab the bags and we enter laughing . Mom stands stands by the staircase with a frown on her face 

"Uhm is there something wrong" I quiz

"Honey I know your not used to being home but since you still live under this roof you will tell us when you leave. You don't just come and go as you please "she says crossing her arms

"Jeez okay sorry mom" I start going up the staircase

"I see you saw your credit card " I look back down the staircase to face her 

"Uhm yeah , thank you " 

"No problem " I head up the stairs case with Bella following me and we barge into my room dropping the bags . We look around and there is a teddy bear made up of red roses sitting on my desk. Walking towards it I grab the note
