Twenty

The first thing Chloe noticed when she finally managed to climb out of slumber's warm embrace was that she ached all over and yet she was warm and it was so very quiet. She wasn’t a stranger to feeling stiff and sore when she woke in the morning but being warm and surrounded by a calm silence? That was very new.

Nordic blue eyes opened slowly, fighting against the weight of exhaustion to focus on the world around them. What the blonde was met with was a pile of duvet that resembled a dark blue cloud. For a moment, Chloe's brain struggled to register that the duvet was unfamiliar. It was thick and warm which was far from what she was used to. It didn’t feel old or worn and the sheets smelt as if they had gone through the laundry in the past twenty-four hours.

This wasn't the den nor was it the cabin so, where was she?

It only took a few moments for the events of the previous day to come back to Chloe and when they did, she shot up with a gasp, eyes dancing wildly around the room as
