Cole:

Emma. I think deeply, trying to figure out why her name sounds so familiar to me. But Rachel’s stagy voice is so annoying.

“...We have the glass broken on the door, the dishes broken on the floor, and the blood splattered on the counter. There is a note that makes it like a suicide but the hand writing is rushed with a bit of blood droplets on it. And if we take a look at the body hanging from the fan, there is no chair anywhere around. So how could the dead hang himself? Besides, there’s hair on his clothes that does not belong to him. All of these mean he was murdered by someone.”

I don’t like the superior and scornful way Rachel looks at Emma. Both of them are humans, weak and mediocre. She’s no better than Emma.

“Well then Emma, what’s your deduction?” Detective Bates asks.

My group are waiting to see her make a mess of herself, because as enforcer trainees, we should be more experienced than her. But I cast my gaze on her, realizing that I’m not sure whether I want her to be right or not.

“A profiler does not only profile people, but also profile data. All the details should be treated as a whole.” She says with her eyes as bright as usual. “Let’s take a look at the broken glass first. Most of the pieces are outside the house, which indicates that the glass was broken from the inside of the house.”

Everyone opens the folder to check it.

“Second, the only indication of another person is the supposed hair strand found on the body. It actually means nothing because of the infinite possibilities. ”

“How do you explain the water on the floor beneath the deceased’s legs?” I challenge her.

She surprisingly looks at me. I know what she’s wondering. This is a key clue that my group didn’t even notice. I didn’t point it out at first for using it to test whether my people have herd mentality. And damn, they do have.

“If he committed suicide from that point of height, he must have stood on something solid, right?”

I nod at her question, encouraging her to go on.

“And ice, which means frozen water, is solid.”

Rachel’s face is red with anger.

She looks around, not stopping there: “I would say the deceased stood on the ice to commit suicide, hoping all the water would have dried by the time he was found. The suicide note was just used to mislead the police because he didn't mention any specific killer.”

She pauses for a while.

“He’s a lonely old man living in that house for ten years without family and friends. He needed someone to notice him, even an imaginary murderer.”

Silent. None of my group are able to argue with this conclusion.

And I just can’t take my eyes off her.

“Bravo.” Detective Bates claps, “We have been giving this case to interns for the past ten years and no one has managed to solve it. This case has not been in the records for public because we wanted to use it for teaching. You impressed me, Emma.”

“Thank you, sir.”

She’s still calm but the blush on her cheeks reveals her shyness. I never really care for human issues so I wouldn’t put too much effort. I start to regret that now.

“OK, let’s move to the next session.” Detective Bates collects all the folders and when he flips mine over, his eyes become piercing. “I guess some of you are hiding your talents. But we won’t give you the chance to do that. You work with the skills you have.” He points some guys, including Rachel. “You guys will be on case administration.”

Rachel looks been wronged and raises her hand. “Excuse me sir, can I switch over to combat training?”

I almost have respect for her confidence. How can she behave like she’s entitled?

Detective Bates doesn’t answer directly: “How many of you have combat skills?”

My group and Emma raise hands. Yeah, she must have exercise habit or her body shape won’t be so hot.

Detective Bates turns to Rachel: “You don’t have, so no. Now who has experience with coding?”

Three people raise their hands and one of them is Gryphon.

“Nice. Coders are hard to come by. You guys head towards the wall of screens behind me. And you guys--” He points at Emma and my group, “-- go to the training court in the next room, and make a pair with anyone you like. ”

Gryphon waits till Emma gets up and mumbles out a goodbye. I frown. When did they get to know each other?

“Hey, the sweet-tooth girl is impressive.” Avery whispers to me. “What do humans call mating? Dating, huh?”

“Marriage.” I throw a cold glance at him. “Be my pair?”

Avery whistles with an easy smile. “Why not?”

After ten minutes --

“Woooh!” Avery dodges from my fist. “Why don’t you pair with Andre?”

“I like you better.” I grin with my teeth clinched. My wolf roars in my body, attempting to let off steam, and anger.

“I don’t feel it that way.” Avery sees my wolf peek and gives it all he has as well.

We get so caught up in our fight, even not realizing the rest of the interns has stopped to watch us.

I don’t mind at all until I feel Emma’s eyes on me. As dodging from Avery’s attack, I turn and lock gazes with her, which hushes my irritable wolf magically. It confuses me so I just stay in place until I see she gasps while Avery’s fist hits on my face.

Cole:As soon as I felt something wrong in the air, I raced towards her room. When the earth started to shake my wolf pushed me even faster and then I threw myself over her.“Cole” she says as she begins to shiver so I rub my hands on her arms “I’m here”The ground then stops shaking and Em is practically frozen now and barely moving. I lift her from her best-friend who looks at her in concern and place her flat on the ground. Her body is so cold to the touch and my wolf is panicking and a small groan comes out.“Is she okay? Did something happen to her?” she places her hand against Em’s forehead and pulls back “Shit she is ice… do I need to hold her hand like yesterday?”I nod my head knowing I should do something but my body can’t move. I never even care for my pack, my first instinct was Em but she is my mate they would understand.Lei grabs Em’s hand and starts rubbing it and then Skye comes flying through the door with Sam behind him “Everyone okay?” he asks but his gaze is fixed

Cole: In a matter of minutes my life changed. The hope that I held onto has finally became a reality, at times I thought that I would never see her again. And then she turned out to be the one thing that I was avoiding. The person that I thought was making me betray my Silver turned out to be my Silver. What an absolute clusterfuck! I slam the stuff off the table. ‘I can’t do this now’ rings in my ears as I picture her running away from me and my wolf eats at me to chase her. Skye rushes into the room and pauses “Cole?” he calls out. I look at him knowing that he is my best friend, family and brother. He pulls me away from the broken shit on the floor “It will be okay, just give her some time. She is still in shock that her life took a complete 180 degree turn” “She is strong, I don’t think that her finding out that she is a supernatural is affecting as much as the fact that betrayed her. I betrayed my mate and she wants nothing to do with me” “I don’t think she wants anything t

Emma: We are back in that medical room and my mind is spinning, the last time that I was here… Cole had Gryphon remove my memories. He allowed him to tamper with my mind. I let out a growl of frustration and it seems to be heightened by what’s inside of me. ‘You know I have a name right’ the voice says distracting from wanting to attack all the people in this room and letting Lei have free reign to burn it all down. ‘Wow that’s dark’ the voice continues. ‘Yeah well I know monsters are created not born’ I say back ‘and what should I call you?’ ‘Moon Goddess’ and I laugh. Lei looks out at me weirdly. I shrug my shoulders “I have a voice in my head now” “Come again” she screeches out. I roll my eyes at her “There is a voice in my head that says that she is a Goddess” at that everyone in the room looks at me and start speaking at once. “Did you just say goddess?” “This is so insane” “Damn spitfire”

Emma: I remember now… they kept on erasing my memories and I thought that I was going crazy. I look at Cole and I touch my lips. I kissed him first and he removed that. I ignore the intense voice insisting that he is what I need but I shove him away from me “Don’t touch me” and I move closer to Lei. Lei looks at me “Can someone please explain what the hell is happening? Did you do this to us?” She points her hand at Gryphon and fire shoots out of her finger and it barely misses his ear. “ARGH” she jumps up waving her hand as the fire starts to spread “Help, I’m on fucking fire” “You’re a fire elemental” Gryphon holds his hand to his ear and I think that this might not really be happening… maybe I am dreaming. “Put it out. Put it out” she keeps on screaming but it does not look like she is actually getting harmed. I am so dreaming, wow it seems so real. ‘You are not dreaming girl, she is so on fire’ I hear and look around but ev

My wolf enraged that he can’t get to Emma and keeps growling at anyone else that comes close.I shake my head as everyone has come to a standstill as the smoke clears from the area. There is a silver and red shield over both the girls and I can barely see them. I hear a scream and turn to see that uncle Aiden had taken a piece of flesh out of the dark witch. We joined forces with the Jewel coven and some of them are working on the spell to contain the witch, while others cast a spell on the dorms so that the rest of the humans sleeps through the ensuing chaos about to take place. Some of wolves up ahead starts to chase something and that triggers my senses to zone in, I hear something huge and heavy treading through the forest. I shift and start chasing, I can only see flashes of something black and it is moving very fast. Then a scream pierces the forest and light shoots into the sky… a witch just died. We move in that direction until we come across an open field and a hooded figure is dancing around a mutilated body on the ground. I can barely make out the face but I know that it is a female. “Come on’ welcome to my party”
