39. Mae

Late evening.

It was starting to get darker now. I stood with my hands akimbo and watched almost all the men leave the field through the gate. Rhea was one of the last few to leave.

"See you tomorrow, Mae." She smiled at me when she was about to leave but stopped."Hopefully."

Hopefully? What did she mean hopefully?

"K4! Come over here!" I heard the commander but looked behind me to see who he was calling out to before eventually realizing I was K4.

I jogged over to where he sat. He was on his phone for the next five minutes while I stood in front of him. The field was empty as everyone had now left and it was just me and him.

Soon, darkness took over the field and some bright lights automatically came on and took over the place. I became tired of standing and watching him use his phone so I decided to remind him of my presence.

"Uhm...are we going to begin the training anytime soon?" I asked him and watched as he slowly took his eyes off the phone to look at me.
