Sitting before the dressing, I stared at myself. Rue was working on my hair while I still contemplated on what Alistair had said to me earlier.

When I returned, I was relieved to know that I didn’t go past curfew this time and that whatever punishment be had for me, he was going to mete it out on me. Alistair had told Rue to inform me that I was to get ready as I would be heading for a family dinner with him, which came as I surprise.

I was taken aback by the new change of plans as I had earlier assumed that we would be heading for a ball and it was then and there that I also realized that I had overlooked something else . It was the fact that’s though I had stayed with him for as long as I could remember, I never bothered to ask if he had a family.
