Cattleya’s POV
“Huh?”
He smiled, “Have we met before, Cattleya?”
My lips quivered in fear, swallowed hardly as I replied, “No, I don’t think we have met before, J–Jaxon.”
He sat on his long black couch, spreading his legs, and directed his gaze at me for a second.
Then he leaned his back and closed his eyes, seemingly yearning for a moment of peace.
I stood there, watching him intently, but my mind was uncertain about what to do next.
I can't let him ignore me this time; I have to do something crazy.
I carefully took off my heels one at a time.
Next, I took a deep breath and sat down on his lap, putting myself at ease right away.
Then I gasped when I smelled his manly perfume, which took me away.
As his piercing, mystifying gaze locked with me, his face shifted from bewilderment to surprise.
He leaned back a little, resisting the urge to touch me. Then, in a gentle voice, he asked me, "What are you doing, Ms. Sullivan?"
“Uhm…”
“Is this how you pay me?” he asked, arching his eyebrow.
Catt, pls, say something, don’t just stare at him like that!
I thought he would be rough with me, but he held my face with one hand and touched it softly.
Oh, crap, I'm going to die!
Okay, one kiss is enough for me. But this time, I'll keep him interested.
He pulled me so close to him that it was hard for me to breathe, and then, to my surprise, he dominantly claimed my lips.
His kiss was full of power and control.
I could feel his soft lips on mine, and I kissed him back because I wanted this to happen; it was all part of my plan.
I kissed him deeper, and his tongue went into my mouth. Then, he was taken aback by how I returned the kiss, but he soon melted into a contented sigh.
Just then, we heard a loud explosion outside his VIP room.
Fear gripped me, and I frantically tried to push him away but he reacted so quickly that gripped my waist and scooped me without worry.
"You don't want to die here, won't you?" he asked, breathing softly.
“No,” I whispered as I tried to pull away from him.
Jaxon release me with a frown written on his face, “What—”
I tiptoed and kissed him on the lips, “If you want to finish what we started, you gotta find me.”
I smiled playfully and before he could react, I already ran away barefoot.
***
Everyone is running down the hall at the same speed as me. I could hear them yelling out of fear.
They are scared to death and running for their lives. I joined the crowd to hide from Jaxon.
Then, as I walked out the door, I sighed in relief and rubbed my face in anger because I had really left my purse in Jaxon's room.
"F**k!"
Next, I hopped in a cab to head home without even thinking straight.
When I stepped out of the car, a smiling guard greeted me and said, "Good evening, Ms. Cattleya."
The guard’s smile vanished when he saw me not wearing any shoes.
“Are you alright, Ms. Cattleya?”
"I don't have cash; please pay the taxi driver. Thank you." I said as I passed him and walked inside the gate, like my whole spirit was separating from my body.
My mom scanned me from head to toe, her disapproval evident in how her eyes lingered on my curvy short dress.
"Why are you dressed like that? You went to a party? How could you?!"
I glanced at her, a knot of frustration tightening in my stomach.
"Trust me, Mom. I have my reasons," I said, the words heavy with unspoken emotions.
She scoffed in disbelief. She didn't say a single word anymore; she just let me walk upstairs, and then she returned to her room with a muffled sob escaping after her.
My heart ached for her. Communicating with Mom had always been difficult, the distance creating a chasm between us. We only saw each other three times a year, fleeting visits in London before they'd return to Italy.
Growing up, I'd been a grandma's girl, spending every summer with her in the countryside. The thought of leaving her side at twelve had been unbearable. So, my parents made the difficult choice of letting me stay with her.

The next day,
My stomach growls, instantly followed by a throbbing pain behind my eyes.
Ugh, this was not how I wanted to start the day.
I pushed myself out of bed and dragged myself to the bathroom, splashing water on my face and brushing my teeth in a wimpy try to feel human again.
My phone buzzed on the nightstand, Vianne's cheerful voice cutting through the dull ache in my head. "Hi, Ms. Catt!" she exclaimed. "Good morning. I called to let you know that the condo was ready for you to move in today. What do you think?"
I forced a smile and said, "Alright,"
"Uh, and also! Patrick is coming to get you," Vianne continued excitedly.
“What?” I asked in disbelief.
Vianne laughed, "I told him to help you today since I have the day off. And your dashing prince is more than happy to lend you a hand."
I rolled my eyes and sighed, "Dashing prince, my foot."
“Oh, Ms. Catt! Give Sir Patrick a chance, he’s been pursuing you for a year now…”
“Bye, Vianne. Enjoy your day off, okay?” I said in a sarcastic voice.
Then I ended the call and walked downstairs with a heavy face.
I sat in the dining area and the maid prepared the milk and bread for me.
I smiled at her and said, “Thank you. Uhm, where’s mom?”
The maid scratched the back of her head as she said, “Oh I forgot to tell you, your parents told me today that they’re going for a business trip. They told me to take care of you while they’re away.”
I scoffed and whispered to myself, “They couldn’t even wait for me to wake up?”
And suddenly the guard walked in the kitchen and said, “Ms. Catt, someone’s here for you.”
“Oh, that must be Patrick.” I said as I stood up and walked outside.
Surprisingly, I saw Jaxon Moretti standing in the doorway.
He wasn't just the cool guy from the VIP room; he was a natural force that was both dangerous and captivating.
His eyes were so intense that they sent a spark through my body and held my attention.
I clenched my teeth and bit my lower lip in anger b
ecause I shouldn't have looked at him like he was a good guy! He's the cruel Mafia!
In a deep husky voice, he uttered, "FOUND YOU."
Cattleya’s POVMy heart skipped a beat as I heard his voice. "You're here?" I asked softly. He smirked, "You ask me to find you, Cattleya Sullivan..." That's when I realized he'd already found me in my own damn house. I thought he'd come to my new condo, but now there's no turning back. By the time he found me here, my plan had already failed. He smiled at me as he walked closer. But I felt glued to the spot, unable to move, and my heart was beating so fast that it almost leaped out of my chest. Finally, I forced myself to grab his hand and take him to my room. Clamping my palm over his mouth, I whispered, "I don't want anyone else to see you, especially Patrick." "And who is Patrick?" he asked, his voice clouded with confusion and amusement."None of your business." I moved away from him and opened the door. Then, I glanced at him and said, "Please, stay here. I need to talk to Patrick."I couldn't believe I had let this dangerous criminal roam around in my room and into my life
Cattleya’s POVI smiled and shook my head at him. "I think you shouldn't answer that," I replied. Then, I walked right past him as I went into his house. The room was dark and cozy, just like him. I glanced back at him when he followed me inside. I let out a gasp as his hand reached my shoulder, and my back scraped against his chest. He turned me around to face him. I could hardly breathe because he was so close. Finally, I asked him the question that made him frown: "So you run the Inferno Nightclub, right? Does the name Ariella ring a bell?"Jaxon's frown deepened, his eyes narrowing as he studied my face. "The name sounds familiar," he finally replied. "I think I've heard it before. Why do you ask?” He stepped forward and I stepped back when he was so close to me that it was hard for me to breathe properly. “Are you looking for a missing woman? I apologize, I don't keep women in my vault."Softly scowling, my heart hurt because I thought he knew Ariella, or maybe he didn't k
Cattleya’s POVBang! A gunshot reverberated across the room in an instant. It gave me chills to think that someone might shoot me and I'd die. I felt like I could pass out at any time. When I turned around, I saw the man, bloodily, lying on the floor with his eyes open. Jaxon covered my eyes with his palm. "Don't stare at him."I stared at Jaxon in horror, my hands trembling, but somehow I managed to stay calm. He took me outside and called someone on his phone. "I have a job for you," he said, glancing at me.He walked back inside and continued talking. I still don't know what I've gotten myself into. It felt like I put myself in danger with the most dangerous man. He'd killed someone right in front of me without even flinching. He stood there, staring at the dead body like it was nothing to him. When he came back, he said, "We need to get out of here. No one should see you." I gasped softly. "But what about the...""Don't worry about him," he cut in. "My men will clean him up.
Cattleya's POVI stared at him intently, my gaze tenacious.Only he could command such undivided attention from me.Leaning forward, I plastered on a sweet, seductive smile and whispered, "No, I'm not."He sighed softly, clearly exerting self-control. "Alright then, it seems like you're persistent.""I am," I replied firmly.Suddenly, my phone rang, jolting me from our intimate moment.Patrick's name flashed across the screen. Why was he calling now?"Aren't you going to answer that?" Jaxon asked, his gaze fixed on the road.I shook my head, silencing my phone. "It's not important," I said, clearing my throat and trying to refocus. "So, where are we going now?"He nodded, his hand tightening on the steering wheel. "Well, I'm taking you home. You need a good night's sleep and to stop thinking about me."Confusion washed over me. "I thought you were going to help me find my sister's killer?""I don't know if I have to help you, Cattleya Sullivan," Jaxon said, his tone flat. "I don't hav
Cattleya’s POV She laughed, a mocking sound that grated on my nerves. "Guess I don't need to repeat myself, Cattleya. See you around."With a provocative sway of her hips, she turned and walked away. Her laughter echoed behind me, a taunting melody that sent a surge of anger through my veins.I stormed into the elevator, my mind racing. Upon reaching my condo, I slammed the door shut, the echo amplifying my frustration. I sank into the soft cushions of the red velvet sofa, my breath coming in ragged gasps."One step at a time," I muttered, my voice low and determined.I cracked my knuckles and opened my laptop, eager to delve into the world of Jaxon Moretti. His online persona was meticulously crafted, a pristine image of success and power—no scandals, no controversies—just a carefully curated facade. My phone rang, interrupting my investigation. It was Vianne. "Hey," I answered, my tone neutral."Miss Catt, we have dinner with Mr. Spencer tonight to discuss the Michelangelo Pieta
Cattleya’s POVI gasped for breath, my chest heaving as I struggled to inhale. Jaxon's hands gently massaged my upper back, his soothing murmurs a stark contrast to the panic clawing at my insides. "We need to get you to a doctor," he said to his driver, his voice firm.Minutes later, we arrived at Dr. Lamberto's. Jaxon cradled me in his arms, his touch both tender and protective. His concern was evident, but a cold dread nibbled at me. Why did I feel safe in his embrace?I managed a weak smile. "I'm fine," I lied, my voice barely a whisper. His eyes held a depth of worry I couldn't ignore. 'You're anything but fine,' he said, his tone gentle yet insistent, his hand tightening around mine. The doctor emerged from his house, his brow furrowed in concern as he took in the situation. His wife stood beside him, her face etched with worry. Despite his confusion, it was clear he recognized Jaxon's urgency.Jaxon carefully carried me inside, placing me gently on the living room couch.
Cattleya’s POVI glanced at Jaxon, my heart pounding. I was in serious trouble now and had no idea what to say to my parents.Their expressions were a mix of confusion and shock. Then, Patrick stormed in and lunged at Jaxon, ready to punch him.But in a surprising turn of events, Jaxon, with lightning speed, caught Patrick's fist and twisted his arm, turning the tables in the blink of an eye.Patrick howled in pain, demanding, "Let go of me, you idiot!"I grabbed Jaxon's hand and pleaded, "Jaxon, please let him go."Jaxon pushes Patrick away.My parents stared at us with frowning eyebrows. My mom asked, "What the hell is going on, Catt? Are you dating this man? Do we know this man?" I know why my mom asked this kind of question; if I had to deny Jaxon in front of them, she would have been pleased to arrange a marriage for me with Patrick. "Mom... this is Jaxon Moretti—" My breath caught in my throat as I stole a glance at Jaxon, who seemed to await my following words. "My boyfriend
Cattleya’s POVI was stunned. I couldn't find the words. Maybe my sister's 40th death day was way more important to think than to think what other people would say.My mom sighed, "I'm sorry, Catt… I got carried away… I didn't mean to hurt you."I nodded and looked away. She picked up her black purse and left my condo.I sat on the couch, thinking about my happy memories with my twin sister. Now, they are all gone. I can only think about it, but it’s difficult to think about it—it only brings me pain. Suddenly, my phone rang. It was Vianne, my secretary. I answered her call. "Hey..." "It's been days since you've been to the office, boss. Are you okay?" she asked."I'm fine," I replied, scratching the back of my neck. "Did you move everything to my new office? The art, the gallery, everything I wanted? And did you talk to Mr. Spencer? What's the news?"She cleared her throat. "Actually, there's a problem. He doesn't want to talk to me. He wants to talk to you. As soon as he heard I w
Cattleya’s POV"Are you ready?" I asked, and then he held my hand tightly. He nodded nervously. I laughed, "Jaxon, this is not so you." "I'm just nervous, babe," he replied with a soft sigh.Thankfully, I had previously told them about their father, who had been away for many years and even showed them a photo of Jaxon. So, by the time they met him, they already knew who he was.Jaxon looked incredibly nervous as we arrived at the safe house. He seemed on the verge of running away. "What if they don't like me? What if they can't accept me?" he fretted."Have they seen your face before?" I asked calmly. He stood at the doorway, a mixture of excitement and apprehension evident on his face. "No, not yet. But I've already seen them. Gosh, they look so cute! They look just like me—""Hey! I'm their mother too," I teased, "You can't take all the credit!"Jaxon blushed. I wanted to laugh but gently knocked on the door with a smile. He sighed softly. "What do I do now? Will they be upset t
Cattleya’s POVI ducked down to cover my head. Looking around, I saw everyone had gone wild, fighting for survival as if their lives depended on it. Terror gripped me as I watched my husband battling fiercely, risking his own life."J--Jaxon!" He indeed chose me, and now he had to fight all those people trying to kill him. Within minutes, Vlad and his men arrived to help Jaxon in the battle. My eyes widened as I saw Vlad grab one of them and viciously crack their neck, and then a cruel smile graced his lips. He continued in this manner, dispatching each of them with chilling efficiency.I stepped back, searching for an exit, only to realize I had forgotten something. When I turned around, I saw Elise standing behind me, her eyes wide with shock. She hissed, "Don't you dare.." I scoffed, then walked towards her, grabbing her hand tightly and dragging her towards me. She struggled against me, but even though my body felt battered and bruised, I wouldn't let her go."Let go of me, bit
Cattleya’s POV"Oh, Cattleya, you are such a fool. How could you believe that I took your twins?" I heard Elise's voice echoing through the empty building.I never thought I would find myself in another life-threatening situation. My heart pounded in my chest, and then I took a deep breath, tried to steady myself, and looked up to see her. Elise stood at the bottom of the stairs, a vision in a crimson velvet dress, identical to the one I had worn on the night I chose revenge.A chilling smile played on her lips. She looked like a predator, poised and ready to strike. She turned around, a crowing glint in her eyes. "Do you like my gown? Oh, I almost forgot… it's quite identical to the one you wore the last time, but I think this one is better."I stared at her, my gaze unwavering. Giving her the death stare wouldn't achieve anything. I needed to think, to find a way to escape this deadly game, or perhaps even fight for my life. She walked towards me, stopping a few steps away. "But yo
Cattleya’s POVThe rain had finally stopped, and I was starting to feel a little peckish. I headed downstairs, planning to grab a snack in the kitchen. But as I approached, I heard a loud crash. My heart lurched. Three figures, masked and menacing, stood frozen in the doorway.Panic rushed through me. I reacted instinctively, snatching a heavy vase from the counter and hurling it at them. The vase shattered against the wall, glass raining down. Then, like a ghost, Jaxon appeared. His gun barked three times, and the intruders crumpled to the floor."Ow!" I hissed, wincing as a sharp pain shot through my foot. Jaxon asked, "Are you hurt?" "I'd stepped on a shard of glass...." Jaxon rushed towards me, scooping me up in his arms. "We need to go," he growled, carrying me out of the house. Gunfire erupted behind us. It wasn't just three men. It was an ambush! He threw me into the car, buckling me in before sliding behind the wheel. "They found us," he said, his voice grim."I know,"
Cattleya’s POVHe put me above the table and pulled himself closer to me. He kissed my lips, then my cheek, and finally my forehead, staring into my eyes with such longing. He breathed softly and whispered, "You know how much I've waited for this…"I gasped and asked, "What do you mean?"He just smiled at me and continued. He kissed my earlobe, then down my neck, showering me with tender kisses all over my body. It sent a tingling sensation through me that I craved so badly. Then he took off his gray T-shirt. I gasped as I stared at his muscular body. Damn, what a body! I lay my back on the table, and he leaned in, kissing my lips again. He pulled me so close that our mouths and lips smashed together, driven by the longing we felt for each other. Then he caressed my neck down to my chest, making me almost moan aloud. He put his hand on my lips and said, "Moan out loud, baby..."He continued what he was doing, caressing my breasts more and more. Finally, unable to contain himself any l
Cattleya’s POVI awoke to the rhythmic drumming of heavy rain against the windowpane. Never had I imagined life could feel this peaceful, this utterly serene. I couldn't believe the man I'd yearned for, longed for with every fiber of my being, was sitting there, watching me sleep. I blinked slowly, a yawn escaping my lips, and murmured, "Did I sleep too long?"Jaxon smiled, the curve of his lips a breathtaking sight, and then he replied, "You passed out."I nodded, my heart pounding against my ribs. And I sat up in bed; the world still felt surreal, a dream I feared waking from. My gaze darted away, unable to bear the intensity of his gaze and the unspoken emotions swirling between us. I just couldn't help but sigh in relief. Then he said, "I… I only know you're my wife because my investigator proved it to me. The photos on the screen, everything about it, prove that you're my wife."My eyes widened. If this was all it was, if his feelings weren't genuine if he only recognized me
Cattleya’s POV"Catt, you should sleep, and we will face it tomorrow, okay?" Vlad said, leading me to my room. I couldn't help but hug him, saying, "Thank you for helping me."He was a little stunned when I hugged him. He tapped my shoulder, "Everything will be fine. I'm sure of it.""Thanks, Vlad," I said, kissing his cheek and locking the door. I only did that so that he would think my mind wasn't in a storm and that I would fall asleep tonight without thinking about anything. I took a deep breath and glanced at the window. I needed to know what really happened to Jaxon. I couldn't just leave him there with a group of people who betrayed him.I knew Vlad was working on it, but I had to take action before it was too late.I slowly opened the window, and the wind greeted me. I placed my hands on the railing and slowly climbed down without making any noise. Then I bit my lower lip when I saw Vlad talking to someone on the phone in the living room. I tried so hard not to be noticed by
Cattleya's POVMr. Salvatore glared at me as if he'd seen a ghost, then immediately pretended like he didn't know me, "Who the hell are you?"I chuckled softly. "Oh, you're just like your daughter. She pretended she didn't know me too. Alright, let me present myself again. My name is Cattleya Sullivan. The woman who died three years ago."Suddenly, Elise interjected, "It's Dylan's birthday, and I don't want you to ruin my son's birthday..." then she glanced at Jaxon. "How could you bring this woman here to cause some chaos?"Jaxon ignored her.And amid the crowd, I heard Grace's voice shriek. My first thought was that she'd escaped the mental hospital, drunk and disheveled. "Cattleya! Oh my god, it's been a long time! Y—You're alive! I thought you were dead?!" Then she laughed at her own joke. "Oh my god, maybe I was just seeing things. Are you a ghost?"And that's when Jaxon interrupted her, "Grace, do you know her?"Anthony arrived to stop Grace from talking. "Grace, what the hell a
Cattleya’s POV“What?! I didn't do anything wrong! She strangled me to death, Jaxon! This woman hurt me! You can ask your son! He saw everything!" Elise said while pointing a finger at me.She really wanted Jaxon to believe her, but I guess I really know my husband the most. By looking at it, he doesn't believe a single word that Elise just said."Did I just warn you not to hurt my employee? She's my new secretary, for the love of God, Elise. You always make this so complicated. And please, don’t drag Dylan into this. Don’t be so childish…." Then she shook her head and said one more time, "Jaxon—""Stop this, Elise. Get out of Cattleya's room now. I'll deal with you later," Jaxon said, opening the door wider.Elise walked out, her feet thumping against the floor. She looked furious, but here I am, my heart so flattered that Jaxon didn't believe Elise. I am so proud of my husband. Oh, damn, there he is, staring at me. Jaxon took a step closer and checked my arms and neck. My heart wa
