We were now in a black fancy car that was electric. It was not a Telsa, I knew how they looked. But I did know that it was an electric car.

I kept glancing at Chris, trying to wrap my head around what had happened not too long ago. Why did he pull away when I tried to kiss him? I know I was not being delusional, he did pull away.

When he noticed that I kept looking at him, he chuckled lightly and asked, “Is something wrong? Do I have something in my hair?” He tried to touch it but I gestured for him to stop.

“No, no, you’re good.”

“Then what is going on? You keep staring at me weirdly…” He smiled, confusion plastering on his face.

Should I bring it up? I was contemplating it because what if it triggered him and we ended up going to the event mad at each other? So to avoid it, I just shrugged it off. “It’s nothing,” I replied.

“Hmm,” He mumbled as he chuckled once more, peeling his eyes from on me and looking out the window at the passing buildings.

They didn’t know. None of them knew who they were applauding for. They were literally clapping for the devil. Her walk to the standing mic was elegant and confident. Her smile was as sharp as a knife and her dress was stunning. She had not looked in our direction yet but I had a strong feeling that she already knew that we were here. When the applause stopped, I kept staring at her. The police chief? Working with the FBI? What kind of twisted and sick game was this? I must have been sleeping and all this was just a huge nightmare. When I felt Chris’s gaze on me, I looked back at him. “Are you okay?” He asked lowly as Fallon gave her speech about justice and other things that made me so confused as to how all of this was possible. Did she have a twin? Was the person on the stage right now just a lookalike?“You look like you have seen a ghost,” He chuckled the words out. I broke eye contact with him and looked back at the women on the stage, trying to see if I was not hallucinatin

Fallon chuckled, a sound that sent chills down my spine. “Let’s just say that I have my ways of finding things out. You should know better than to underestimate me, Linda.”“I can’t believe how dumb you are, you really told your husband. Do you really think that he would look at you the same anymore?” She continued, and my mind played when I had tried to kiss him and he had pulled away. I backed away further, feeling the cold sink pressing against my back. Panic surged through me as I realized the heaviness of the situation. I had not only to pout myself but put Chris in danger by revealing too much. “I don’t understand. There is no way that you could have known.” I shook my head slowly, still trying to understand. “Are you spying on me?” That was the only explanation that I could come up with and a valid one that I would not even put past her. She smirked. “Yes, I am spying on you,” She replied with a firm and confident tone. “What are you going to do about it? Oh, yeah, not a dam

My mind raced with conflicting thoughts and emotions. On one hand, the idea of being free from Fallon's grip was tempting. To return to a normal life, to put all of this behind me…it was almost too good to be true. But on the other hand, I could not shake the feeling that making another deal with her would only drag me deeper into her web of lies and manipulation. So what was I going to do? Trust her and make the deal? Or just stick to the same deal that I already had with her?I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves. “What…what is it that you want me to do?” I asked, my voice a bit low. Her smile widened a glint of triumph in her eyes. “There’s a man, a powerful and rich man, who’s been causing me a great deal of trouble. This is a bit personal because he hurt me and my family, even though he does not know that. I want you to take care of him for me.” My blood ran cold at her words. I had already crossed a line by taking lives at her behest, but to do it again…I was not

“I was so worried about you,” Chris murmured, his voice laced with relief. “When you didn’t come back, I thought something terrible had happened.” I leaned into his embrace as he held me in his arms once again, seeking solace in his warmth. “I’m sorry, I came to the bathroom and then I saw her.” I did not even have to say her name, I knew that Chris would know who I was talking about. “Are you sure that you’re okay and that she did not do a thing to you?” I shook my head, breaking the embrace. “I’m fine, I promise you.” I chuckled lightly as I put some of the rogue strands of my hair behind my ears. “Did she say anything? You were in here for a while.” My mind played Fallon’s words and I felt a bit nauseous. I could not stop thinking of the deal that she had offered me. It seemed so good but at the same time, what I had to do to get that deal sealed sickened me. “She didn’t say much. She did tell me that she had a bug on my phone and that I should not in any way remove it. She h

With trembling hands, I flipped through the documents, my heart pounding as I tried to chew on mentally what had just happened. Wait…hold on. So that meant that that was not an accident. That had been planned. That guy had purposely allowed me to bump into me. Who knew how long he must have been waiting for me?And how in the world did he know that I was going to come for a run? Or even use this direction. Sh*t…Fallon. How could I be so forgetful? The bug that she had on my phone. She obviously had heard something that I may have said to Chris or one of the staff at the mansion before leaving that made her say that I was going for a run. Or maybe, my rapid breathing and she could also have a tracker on there too. Damn, this made me feel a bit unsafe. But the only thing that was giving me solace at that moment was the fact that I knew that she did not want to harm me, she only needed my help. I decided to head into a small coffee shop that was not far from where I was standing. I

As Chris continued to banter lightly, my mind raced with strategies to erase the security footage without raising any red flags. I could not afford for him to stumble upon any evidence that would lead back to the mysterious folder that I had gotten in a very weird way. “You should go and shower, you smell like a sewer,” I joked, and he rolled his eye playfully, pulling me in for a hug that gave me no chance to escape. “But that’s what you like, don’t you?” He went along with the joke and I could not help but chuckle freely. Then I felt something poking me. I pulled away and gave him a look as he smirked. “Not happening, you better go and shower, young man.” He whined like a little child, “Come on, please. You have already woken him up.” He nodded at his boner. I scoffed faintly before laughing lightly. “I did not wake anyone up. Your guy down there should be accountable for his own actions.” I shrugged as I escaped his embrace. “Plus, you have not been going to work or doing anyt

  • Secrets, Seduction, & Serenity   The Security Room

With a renewed determination, I set out to find a way to access the security room without raising any suspicions. I knew I had to tread carefully, but I was willing to take the risk if it meant Chris not finding out about the deal that Fallon had offered me. I did not know if he was done with his shower yet but I did know that he was going to be stuck in that room to do some work after the bathroom. So I knew that I had some time. I proceeded to leave the hallway, heading on the little mission that I had found for myself. I could feel the anxiety but the thing was that it was now getting normal for me. You see, for the past few days, I had been swamped with anxiety and fear. Over and over. So the thing was my body was getting kind of used to it at this point. I exited the huge house and I approached the security building that was found in another building not far from the residential area. I tried to keep my movements casual as if I belonged there. I knew that appearing too nervo

I was back in the mansion in no time. Chris was not in our room anymore but was rather in the living room. I stopped by and said, “Still doing the work that you have been putting off all because you wanted to be a good husband?” “I am a good husband,” He replied, humor in his voice. I could not help but chuckle in response. “Of course, you are. You’re perfect,” I said as I closed the distance between him and me, planting a kiss on his forehead. I knew him to be perfect. And when I say perfect, I was not talking about the dictionary meaning of that. I felt like in his own way, he was perfect. I was glad that I met him and wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Fallon only wanted to come between us. She had already done enough by making me so many disgusting things. Now, what she wanted to do was break up my marriage by planting lies and deceit. And even though I was tempted to believe. Or tempted to want to find out, that did not mean that I would. I knew that it would not be righ

Linda’s POVWe managed to get out of the burning room, and I swear I think I got a few burns but the adrenaline drowned the pain out. We were headed out and had no idea where the exit was due to how much smoke and fire was assaulting us from almost everywhere. The pinching pain in my belly was growing and as much as I tried to brush it off, it was getting harder to do with each step that I took.Suddenly, the roof caved in and fell to the ground causing us to be separated by angry flames. I was stuck on the other side and Chris and the others were away from me.Fear filled me and I took a few careful steps away from the raging fire. “Help!” I exclaimed.“Keep calm, Linda. We will find a way to get to you, but for now, I would recommend that you keep moving.” He pointed towards the ceiling. When I looked up, I saw that the fire was eating it up, it could fall at any second. “Okay!” I said loudly, so I could be heard above all the commotion. When I turned around to start moving, I was

Linda’s POVI had never been so scared in my life, the room held a tension that I could not describe. It felt like a nightmare, a real one.It felt like I was hallucinating all of this, but deep down, I knew that I was not. This was real, and it was something that I could not escape from. “Please, think about the baby,” I begged Mr. Kingston, tears flowing from my eyes and snot running down my nose.“Did you think of the baby before you and your friends decided to f*ici up my life?” He asked, dark humor dancing in his eyes.“Light them up,” he said, walking away. In seconds he was out of the room. Kirby flashed me a sad look before her features hardened again. She then walked out, the doctor guy following her.I sniffled and then sobbed out even more. I was beginning to smell gasoline, the smell was overwhelming. Sh*t, they were going to burn us up. My vision got blurred for a few seconds before I blinked the tears away, making it clear again. The door opened and I saw Kirby and th

My heart was thumping in my chest and more tears threatened to spill from my eyes due to fear.“You better hope she answers, we are on a tight schedule,” Kirby warned me in a hard tone. I was praying for that too. “Call her again, maybe her phone is on Do Not Disturb,” I tried to find an explanation.“Hmm,” She mumbled in response before deciding to make the call again. This time, Fallon answers on the third ring.I let out a breath that I did not know I was holding. Kirby brought the phone close to me and put it on speakerphone. “This better be important, because I’m very busy right now,” Fallon said, it sounded like she was on a busy street because I could hear the sound of cars and people being people in the background. “It is,” I replied. “Fallon, I need your help; Chris and I have been kidnapped. The like went quiet for a few seconds and then she broke the silence. “Linda?” “Yes, Fallon, please…hur

Linda’s POVBeing bound was not a nice experience, the ropes were so tight that every time I would try to move, they would pinch my skin. But I had made my decision, I wanted to come out of here alive. I wanted my baby to come out of here alive, so I was going to do everything I was told to do no matter how messed up it would be.Kirby and the guy who I thought was a doctor soon walked out of the room, leaving me with the guy who was not too far from me.I knew it was a man because of his build but I could not tell who he was. He was wearing old and ragged clothes and seemed to be unconscious because his head was bent over in a weak way.“Are you okay?” I asked, attempting to see if he was awake even though I felt he was not. There was no reply. So I sighed and then glanced around the room, looking to see if I could find a way of escape, but it seemed like the only way to get out here was through the door. There were two windows in the room but both of them had iron bars that did not

Linda’s POVThe car soon came to a stop, it had been a long ride. “Take her inside,” Kirby commanded and the Doctor did as he was asked. He opened the door and got down before gesturing that I do the same. I did not want to be hurt and did not want my baby to be hurt either so I did as he told me. I got down from the car and glanced around. It was now dark but the lights from on the property were impressively bright. Acres of land stretched from both sides that I looked at, and a huge stood not too far from me. It looked like a castle. It was stunning but it had a dark energy that caused my heart to skip a beat. I already knew who was behind this. I mean, I had my suspicions at first but they had now been confirmed. The thought of Chris entered my mind and I felt a heaviness that I could not ignore. Why did they have me tell him that I was on a street that we were miles away from? Had it been a way to get him alone so they could harm him? Oh my gosh, I did not know what I would do

Chris’s POVKidnapped? The word rang in my ear over and over, and I could barely hear a thing after she had said that. The car behind mine honked loudly and I was pulled out of my trance. “Clink Street? You said you’re being held at Clink Street?” I needed to make sure that I had heard her right. “Yes…” Her voice broke before a shudder followed shortly after. Then the call dropped. I tried to call but there was no answer. So I tried again; again and again. And with the cars honking behind me as I was parked at the traffic light, blocking their way, I knew that I had to put it all aside for only a few seconds. My mind raced as I tried to make sense of what had just happened. Lind, my wife, was kidnapped. The thought was incomprehensible, surreal. But I could not afford to dwell on it. I had to act, I had to act fast. With a deep breath, I refocused on the present. The light that was was still green, so I finally drove and ignored the road rage that I was getting as I pulled to the

Linda’s POVMy heart skipped a beat, a cold fear gripping me as I realized something was terribly wrong. Panic surged within me, but I tried to keep my voice steady. “What do you mean, you lied?” I demanded, my voice trembling despite my efforts to remain calm. Dr. Adam’s smile faded, replaced by a chilling expression that sent shivers down my spine. “You, Linda,” He said softly, his ice blue eyes locking onto mine with unsettling intensity, “You’re not going to another room as you already can tell, you’re going to a little place called ‘Pay Back’.” I immediately jumped out of the wheelchair and tried to run for my life but I fell to the hard ground. We were in the parking place, basement level. “Help!” I screamed at the top of my lungs but it was like there was not even a soul there. As I hit the ground, pain shot through my body, but fear propelled me to my feet again. Adrenaline surged through my veins as I fought to escape, but Dr. Adam was quick to react. Linda’s POVI could barely speak, the pain overwhelming me as I doubled over on the bathroom floor. Every fiber of my being screamed with agony, and I feared for the safety of my unborn child. I already knew what it was, what was causing the pain. This was not my first rodeo, it was not the first time that it had happened. Aunt Maze and William rushed into the room, their expressions filled with alarm as they saw me writhing in pain. “What’s going on?” Aunt Maze exclaimed, her voice tinged with worry. I struggled to find the words amidst the agony that consumed me. “It’s the bullet…it’s moving and must be hitting one of my organs,” I managed to gasp out, tears stinging my eyes as another wave of pain washed over me. Fallon’s eyes widened with realization. “We need to get her to the hospital, now,” She said urgently, her voice plastered with panic. With her support, I managed to rise to my feet, the pain still stabbing at my abdomen with each step. Aunt Maze and William sprang int

Linda’s POVMy heart skipped a beat at the revelation, the gravity of the situation sinking in. The Kingstons had vanished without a trace, the police had no way of knowing where they were. I wanted to ask how that was even possible. But I already knew the answer to that. Power, money, and influence. They had found a way to disappear because of who they were. “What do you mean disappeared?” Chris demanded, his voice smeared with urgency. “How could a prison transport vehicle just f*cking disappear?” Sergeant Thompson’s tone remained solemn. “We are still trying to ascertain the details, but it appears to have been a deliberate act. We suspect foul play.” “Of course, there was,” I heard Fallon say under her breath before letting out a string of curses. The car we were in was more of a van and we could all fit in easily. My mind raced with so many possibilities, each one more terrifying than the last. Had all of this been orchestrated from the start? Was he planning revenge right n
